How does the free trial work, and when am I charged?

Last reviewed Oct 7, 2026 by Jeremy Werden

Short answer

The BNBCalc Calculator and Markets plans each start with a 7-day free trial, once per account. Nothing is charged until it ends at 11:59 PM in your time zone, 7 days after you start. Then you're charged for the plan you picked at checkout, which is the full yearly price unless you switched to monthly.

What happens when you start

The Calculator and BNBCalc Markets both come with a 7-day free trial. When you start one, checkout shows Total due today: $0. Your card is saved, nothing is charged, and you get everything in the plan right away.

You'll need a debit or credit card, or Apple Pay or Google Pay, since checkout inside the app won't accept a prepaid card for a free trial.

When the trial ends and you're charged

The trial ends at 11:59 PM in your own time zone, 7 days after the day you started, and it's never shorter than 7 full days. So if you start on a Tuesday afternoon, the trial runs until 11:59 PM the following Tuesday, and that's when your first charge goes through.

To see your exact end date, open Settings → Billing. During the trial it reads "Calculator trial active. Ends [date]" (or the same for Markets). Make sure to note that date when you start, because it's the one that decides whether you're charged.

How much the first charge is

The first charge is the full price of the plan and billing period you picked at checkout. Keep in mind that checkout has yearly billing selected by default, so unless you switched to monthly, the first charge is the whole year up front: $199 for the Calculator or $399 for Markets. On monthly billing it's $30 for the Calculator or $79 for Markets. What's the difference between monthly and annual billing? explains both options in full.

Canceling during the trial

You can cancel at any point in the trial and you won't be charged. Go to Settings → Billing → Manage subscription → Cancel current plan. You keep access until the trial's end date, and the Billing page confirms "Your trial won't renew and you won't be charged."

Switching a Calculator trial to Markets

If you started on the Calculator and want to try Markets, you don't need a second trial. Click Try Markets Free in the navbar, or Switch Trial on the Billing page, then confirm with Switch to Markets Trial. It costs $0 today, and your trial keeps going.

When the trial ends, you're charged the Markets price for the billing period you picked: $399 a year or $79 a month. How do I change or upgrade my plan? covers the other plan changes.

If you were charged and didn't mean to be

It happens, and you're covered. BNBCalc refunds any Calculator or Markets charge in full if you ask within 14 days of it, including the first charge after a trial. What is BNBCalc's refund policy? explains how to ask.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a card to start the BNBCalc free trial?

Yes. Checkout saves a debit or credit card, or Apple Pay or Google Pay, but doesn't charge it during the trial. Your first charge comes when the trial ends, unless you cancel before then.

Can I start a second BNBCalc free trial?

No. Each account gets one free trial. Once you've used it, the upgrade window shows "You've already used your free trial" and checkout charges you straight away.
