Revenue percentile
Also called percentile, nearby revenue range, P50, P10 to P90. Last reviewed Oct 21, 2026 by Jeremy Werden
A revenue percentile shows where a revenue figure ranks among a property's comps: at the 70th percentile, about 70% of them earn less. In a BNBCalc analysis, the How your revenue estimate works window shows a nearby revenue range from P10 to P90, and the analysis's owner sees where its revenue figure ranks.
Where does BNBCalc show revenue percentiles?
In a property analysis, in two places:
- The nearby revenue range. Click How it's calculated under the revenue figure to open How your revenue estimate works. Its Nearby revenue range table lists the 10th, 25th, 50th, 70th and 90th percentiles (P10 to P90) of the revenue of all your comps, not only the ones you've selected, with P50, the median, highlighted.
- Your own revenue figure. If you own the analysis, the line under the Annual Revenue field shows where the figure ranks, such as "40th revenue percentile", and switching on Manual revenue input lets you type your own number to see where it would land. It's worked out against every comp with revenue, whatever your filters, and runs from 1 to 100.
Each comp counts at its Revenue (Potential) where BNBCalc has one, or its revenue over the past 12 months otherwise.
How do I read a revenue percentile?
The percentile tells you how many comps earn less than a figure. Say you type in $50,000 and BNBCalc shows the 40th percentile: about 40% of the nearby comps earn less than that, and about 60% earn more.
BNBCalc's default estimate, the median of the top-earning half of the comps, usually sits between the P70 and P90 marks, because it benchmarks what the home earns when it's set up properly: priced with software, open year-round and well managed. P50, by contrast, shows what the typical comp earns, however it's run. So the default estimate is the baseline to build your plan on, and the rest of the range shows where the other homes nearby land.
