What are the best Airbnb markets outside the US in 2026? Well, when I ranked the markets BNBCalc tracks abroad by what a typical listing earned over the 12 months to September 2026, converted to US dollars, the Turks and Caicos Islands came out on top at $184,271. Mykonos, Greece was next at $138,481, then Ibiza, Spain at $110,646 and Fira, on Santorini, at $108,040.

Those figures show what listings earn, though, which isn't the same as what they return. BNBCalc only has home values for US markets, so outside the US it ranks markets by annual revenue instead of gross yield, and that means a list like this can't tell you whether a house pays for itself. To keep the comparison fair, I only ranked markets with a full year of data, kept the larger half by active listings, and converted every currency at BNBCalc's own exchange rates on October 18, 2026.

From there, I'll walk you through the top 20, how the big cities and the countries compare, and what to check before you buy a rental abroad.

What Are the Best Airbnb Markets Outside the US by Annual Revenue?

Outside the US, BNBCalc Markets ranks each country's markets by annual revenue, since gross yield is a US-only figure, and everyone can see the first 10 markets in a country's ranking. You can also browse every country's list on BNBCalc's public ranking pages, no account needed.

However, those rankings stay inside one country, so to compare markets across borders, I converted every one to US dollars and ranked them together. These are the top 20 of the 867 markets I ranked, and the revenue is for a typical listing, meaning all bedroom counts at BNBCalc's average performance tier, the figure a market page's Annual Rev card shows by default.

Each row is one market, ranked on the dollar column, while the next column shows the same figure in the currency BNBCalc keeps that market in. The list leans hard toward islands. Apart from London, Paris and Barcelona, every market here is an island, a stretch of coast or a mountain town, and Saint-Martin and Sint Maarten are named for the French and Dutch sides of the same island.

So how did Mykonos and Ibiza come second and third when they booked only 35% of the nights their hosts left open? Well, guests paid a lot per night there, and a typical listing's average daily rate came to about $698 in Mykonos and $720 in Ibiza.

Pill bar chart from BNBCalc market data: a typical listing in Turks and Caicos earned $184.3K over 12 months to Sept 2026, ahead of Mykonos $138.5K, Ibiza $110.6K and Fira $108.0K

How Did I Convert the Revenue to US Dollars?

BNBCalc stores each market's figures in its own currency, so a Mykonos listing's year comes in euros and a Tokyo listing's in yen. To rank them together, I converted every market at BNBCalc's own exchange rates on October 18, 2026, the same table a market page's Currency menu uses when you switch it to US dollars.

For Mykonos, that works out as €123,193 × 1.1241 dollars per euro = $138,481. Those rates were within half a percent of the European Central Bank's reference rates for October 16 on every currency the bank quotes, too.

Exchange rates change every day, of course, so keep in mind that a close pair of rows can swap places when they do. For example, Canmore, priced in Canadian dollars, sits just $400 ahead of Paris Rive Gauche, priced in euros, so a 1% rise in the euro against the dollar would be enough to put Paris ahead.

Which Markets Made the List?

Of the markets BNBCalc tracks outside the US, I first kept the 1,729 that have a full 12 months of data to September 2026 and a currency BNBCalc converts. That second test only rules out El Salvador, whose markets BNBCalc keeps in a currency it doesn't convert. I also left out US territories such as Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, which BNBCalc lists as countries of their own.

Then, as in our ranking of US cities by gross yield, I kept the larger half of those by active listings, as the ranking pages count them, because in a smaller market a few strong listings can push the average up on their own.

That left 867 markets in 98 countries.

A BNBCalc market is a named area with a boundary, too. So it can be a whole island group like Turks and Caicos, a stretch of coast like the Amalfi Coast, or one part of a city, which is why Paris shows up four times in the top 20. Some reach well past the place they're named for, like BNBCalc's Fira market, which takes in much of Santorini rather than the town alone.

Which Big Cities Outside the US Earn the Most on Airbnb?

London leads the big cities. It's fifth overall, with Paris and Barcelona close behind in the top 20, and these are some of the other best-known cities, sorted by what a typical listing brought in.

MarketCountryTypical listing's annual revenue (US$)In the market's currencyRank of 867
LondonUnited Kingdom$105,125GBP 78,9285

CancunMexico$26,612MXN 491,412431
Mexico CityMexico$23,929MXN 441,853500

The last column shows where each city sits among the 867 markets I ranked. London, Paris, Barcelona, Rome, Tokyo and Amsterdam all land inside the top 40, whereas Lisbon comes in 117th, Cancun sits almost exactly in the middle of the list, and Mexico City sits below it.

Still, part of the gap between the cities and the island markets comes down to the size of the homes, because a typical listing mixes studios with big villas. If you compare two-bedrooms only, the cities move up: a typical two-bedroom earned $118,570 in Paris Rive Droite and $117,900 in London, second and third behind Turks and Caicos at $145,688.

Even so, a big-city number doesn't mean you can rent a home there all year. In Greater London, for example, the Deregulation Act 2015 says that using residential premises as "temporary sleeping accommodation" doesn't involve a "material change of use" for up to ninety nights in a calendar year. That exception also needs whoever provides it to be liable for the home's council tax. So make sure to check what that means for the home you'd buy before you count on a full year of bookings.

Barcelona is another city where you'll want to read BNBCalc's Barcelona regulation guide before you make an offer.

Which Countries Have the Highest-Earning Airbnb Markets?

BNBCalc's public country rankings list every market in a country by annual revenue. To compare countries, I took the median of each country's markets with a full year of data, for the 59 countries with at least five of them, and then added each country's highest market on my list. Since these medians are in US dollars and leave out markets with less than a year of data, they can differ from the median on a country's own ranking page.

RankCountryMedian market's typical revenue (US$)Highest market on the list
1Bahamas$65,049Nassau (33rd)
2United Kingdom$39,653London (5th)
3Australia$38,700Whitsunday (10th)
4Switzerland$36,779Interlaken (17th)
5Japan$35,720Tokyo (25th)
6Austria$35,268Mayrhofen (124th)
7Belgium$34,422Bruges (154th)
8Ireland$34,419Dublin (116th)
9Netherlands$33,717Oostburg (24th)
10Slovenia$31,760Ljubljana (222nd)

The Bahamas is the surprise. It only qualifies with five markets, and Nassau, its middle one, is the only one big enough to make my list.

The median tells you how a country's middle market does, while the last column shows its best one on my list. Greece shows the difference, since it has the second-highest market, Mykonos, and still ranks 12th, with its median market at $27,304. Some of the countries where BNBCalc tracks the most markets sit lower on this measure, too, with Spain 14th, Italy 22nd, France 27th and Mexico 30th. You can see every market behind those medians on BNBCalc's country rankings, such as the one for Spain, where Ibiza leads.

Is High Airbnb Revenue Enough to Buy a Rental Abroad?

Not on its own. The first thing a revenue ranking leaves out is what the home costs, and without home values outside the US, there's no gross yield to fall back on. So a market that earns twice as much can still be the worse buy if its homes cost three times as much.

The ranking also leaves out everything that comes off the top, starting with Airbnb's cut. The revenue here is gross, cleaning fees included, before Airbnb's service fee, where most hosts on its single fee pay 15.5% and hosts with listings in Brazil and Mexico pay 16%, as of October 2026. Then come your running costs, local taxes and the exchange rate, since if you borrow in dollars and earn in euros, every move in the rate changes your cash flow.

How Do You Check One Property Abroad Before You Buy?

For one property, the quickest check is the BNBCalc Calculator. Outside the US, nothing is prefilled, so you'll enter the bedrooms, bathrooms, guests and purchase price yourself, in one of nine currencies. From there, it pulls up to 50 comparable listings nearby to estimate the revenue, and then it takes your costs and your loan through to cash flow and cash-on-cash return.

Even so, check the rules before you trust that number, since they can stop a deal no matter what the revenue says. Make sure an owner who doesn't live in the home can legally rent the whole place out short term in the area you'd buy in. BNBCalc's regulation guides cover several markets on this list, such as Ibiza, so they're a good place to start.

So, What Are the Best Airbnb Markets Outside the US in 2026?

By what a typical listing earned over the 12 months to September 2026, they're Turks and Caicos, Mykonos, Ibiza, Fira on Santorini and London, the top five of the 867 markets outside the US I ranked on BNBCalc's data. Each one cleared $100,000 in US dollars, and at the country level, the Bahamas, the United Kingdom and Australia lead on their median market.

To build your own shortlist, open the country in BNBCalc Markets, sort by revenue for the bedroom count you'd buy, and then run one address through the BNBCalc Calculator.

A list like this shows you where guests pay the most for a stay, and that's a fair place to start looking. Whether a home in one of those places is worth owning, though, depends on what you pay for it, what the local rules let you do with it, and which currency your loan is in.

BNBCalc's market data puts the Bahamas first, with its median market's typical listing earning $65,049 over the 12 months to September 2026, ahead of the United Kingdom at $39,653 and Australia at $38,700. That ranking only counts the 59 countries with at least five markets that have a full year of data. Yes. BNBCalc Markets covers about 2,400 markets in 157 countries, and roughly four in five of them are outside the US. Every market shows what its listings earn, their occupancy and their nightly rates, and a market page can show its money figures in nine currencies, plus the market's own. Outside the US, Markets ranks each country's markets by annual revenue, since gross yield needs home values that BNBCalc only has for the US.
