You rarely see anyone on our secluded cove. You can swim, fish, paddleboard, kayak or tie up your boat. House is only 5 minutes from the marina and comes with paddleboards and kayaks and has a fire pit. Large, open kitchen, family room/ entertainment room, ping pong table, and jetted tub. Close to hiking, fine dining, and VIR. The space This is the perfect spot to get away from it all. Our home is peaceful, quiet, and has plenty of distance from any neighbors. In fact, there's a good chance you won't even see anyone around the home or on the lake. Our home is on a very quiet cove and Mayo Lake itself has little to no boat traffic, even in the summer. We are only 15 minutes from Hyco Lake, and Mayo Lake has a much more private feel than Hyco Lake. This beautiful home has lots of windows and incredible views of the lake. The floor plan is open and you will be greeted with beautiful pine floors as you enter. The views are amazing! In our cove there are often Snowy White Egrets, Blue Herons, jumping fish, turtles, and sometimes Bald Eagles and Beavers. The fishing on our dock is fantastic. You can catch Crappie and Bass. The night sky is incredible and you'll love looking for shooting stars at night. Our home comes with 3 paddleboards and 2 kayaks for your use. We also have several different sizes of life jackets. Our cove is an absolutely beautiful place to explore by paddleboard or kayak. (And by the way, if you haven't tried paddleboarding, it is incredibly fun! You can stand, sit, or kneel. You feel like you are on top of the water!) Our dock is the perfect place to lay in the sun and enjoy the serene beauty or jump in the lake and go for a swim. We keep several noodles and floaties at the house with an electric pump. There is a ladder that makes it easy to get in and out of the lake. There is room to tie up your boat and/or jet skis. The marina is only 5 minutes away (by boat or car)! There is a large deck in the back of the house overlooking the lake with a large table and 8 chairs. There is also a propane grill for cooking out. The backyard has a fire pit with string lights to roast your hotdogs and marshmallows or you can just enjoy the fire with the gorgeous lake as a backdrop. We keep plenty of firewood at the home for our guests. The home has 3 floors: Loft Level - King Bed, closet, and bathroom with a large jetted tub. This bedroom is open and has incredibly gorgeous lake views. This bedroom has a desk with incredible views of the lake while you work. The natural light that floods in through the window is perfect for getting work done. Main Floor - This floor has a large, open spacious kitchen and living room with a wall full of windows to view the lake. The windows are so high that you can even view the stars at night from the inside. The dining table can seat 6 - 8 people. The kitchen has a small, yet cozy electric fireplace. The bedroom on this floor has a King Bed and a smart TV. There is a full bathroom on the main floor as well, right across the hall from the bedroom. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to cook delicious meals with plenty of counter space. There is also a laundry room on this floor and a supply of beach towels for guests to use. Downstairs - This is the room for family gatherings and fun! This room has a large Flat Screen Smart TV. After a long day at the lake, you'll love watching movies on the new leather, reclining couches. There is also a ping pong table in this room. The bedroom on this level has two queen beds and there is a large full bath on this level as well. We also have an assortment of life jackets for our guests to use as well as soaps and shampoos. Within minutes you can be dining at one of the amazing restaurants in the area. Brookland Eats is a family favorite with fresh fish, hamburgers, BBQ, and awesome desserts. American Hero has great Philly Cheese-Steak and Fries, and Clarksville Station Steak House or Old Country Club Steak House is great for the perfect steak. If you decide to leave your lake-side paradise, Mayo Lake Park (5 minutes away) has beautiful walking trails, bands, movies, and playgrounds. Virginia International Raceway (VIR) is only 30 minutes away as is Orange County Speedway and South Boston Motor Speedway. Roxboro and South Boston also have great antique shops. If you're looking to just stay one night, message me and I'll work it out if possible. We now have Starlink Internet and we usually have a great signal. Game room downstairs for guests to enjoy with ping pong, pool and foosball table. The kitchen is nicely stocked with both a drip coffee maker and a Keurig coffee maker. There is Wi-Fi with a smart TV. A canoe and two kayaks are available for use. The space A special home to come to if your want to unplug and unwind. This is a perfect place for families or friends to bond away from daily pressure. A wall of windows face the lake for a beautiful view. Guest access The guests have access to whole home. The main floor is accessible off the deck and has eight steps up to door. There is a metal spiral staircase from the main floor to the loft bedroom and down into walkout basement/ game room. The home also includes two kayaks and a canoe, these are available for use at your own risk. Other things to note Listing is about 6 miles to Roxboro and available shopping. There are several unique shops in "uptown" Roxboro. A movie theatre, Palace Pointe, with bowling and roller skating are located about 15 minutes away. There is a hiking and wildlife education at the nearby Mayo Lake Park. A wonderful restaurant is located in Roxboro, Brooklyn Eats.

Heron Landing: Quiet Cove on Lake Mayo

Incredible, Authentic Log Cabin. Private, peaceful, and lake-front on beautiful Mayo Lake outside of Roxboro, North Carolina. The grounds are 11 wooded acres with great wildlife, fishing, swimming, boating, and floating. The cabin is dog friendly (advanced permission; pet fees are added.) A free, public boat landing is conveniently located with a full network of parks, playgrounds, and walking trails. Canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards can be rented there affordably during the summer weeks! The space Cornerstone Cabin is an extraordinary cabin. We used three 100 year old square log cabins to build it. The old cabins were tagged, disassembled, moved to the lake, and reassembled into one house under current building codes, with all the modern comforts of home. The lake house sits on 11 secluded, forested acres with no other houses in sight. It has magnificent craftmanship, and all the wood was either from old dwellings or custom-milled for the house. The tin roof makes the rain's pitter-patter so soothing. Another unique feature is that it has a full 2nd story. Most cabins constructed with old square logs are 1.5 stories with a loft or knee walls upstairs. Cornerstone has lots of windows & 7 ceiling fans throughout the house so you can throw open the windows & enjoy the fresh air & wildlife sounds. For your sleeping comfort, there are hand-made wooden shutters throughout the house to darken the rooms. Cornerstone cabin has 4 bedrooms. Upstairs are 3 spacious bedrooms, 2 of which (queen & twin in each) have cathedral ceilings with exposed rafters. It's awesome to wake up slowly in the morning on vacation & gaze at the rugged old square logs, the old-timey chinking, & beautiful rafters (notched together the old-fashion way). The 3rd bedroom is also spacious & has 2 twin beds. The upstairs bath has full tub and shower. Starting from the ground up, there is stacked-stone foundation, chimney, & fireplace; then 3' X 9' floor joists for the 1st floor (exceeds any building codes, so the house is solid as a rock). The downstairs has custom-milled beams & includes one bedroom (king), bathroom with shower, stack washer/dryer, fully-equipped kitchen, indoor seating for 12 with dining room table (6), bar (2), & game table (4), internet & WiFi, & family room with satellite HD-TV, oversized fireplace, & sturdy antique staircase built in 1820. Opening from both family room and downstairs bedroom is a 10' x 20' aromatic cedar screened porch with ceiling fans and dining table for 6. The space The cabin is located on the private side of the lake with no access to the main lake, which means you can enjoy the lake without jet ski or boat traffic/interference. If you have a boat larger than a Jon Boat, you will have to launch it from the public boat launch located at Mayo Lake Park (5 miles). Our property is also located approximately 35 miles from the new Caesar's Casino in Danville, VA, 25 miles from VIR, 50 miles from RDU/RTP, and 65 miles from Raleigh. Guest access Guests have access to the entire log cabin, except for any locked rooms or storage. They also have free use of the floating dock and Pontoon Barge for swimming, fishing, or launching personal water crafts. Other things to note Children must be supervised at all times. The Barn and the area surrounding the Barn is absolutely off limits due the equipment and harmful pesticides. NO Pets or Animals allowed. Please do not ruin your vacation or getaway by trying to sneak your pet into our home. The space This beautifully renovated single bedroom apartment is located in historic "Uptown Roxboro" and is a modern, but cozy apartment located right near the courthouse. It boasts stainless steel appliances, walk-in tiled shower, washer and dryer, split wall units for heating and air (one in the living room area and one in the bedroom and are remote controlled) and a nice comfy queen bed. A drip coffee maker is provided, but you'll need to bring your own coffee. TVs are located in the living room area and in the bedroom. There is a flight of stairs to the apartment and pets are NOT allowed. Guest access Guests will access the building with a keycode and will have access to the common areas and all of the apartment. Other things to note This charming apartment is located within walking distance to local restaurants, breweries and shopping. The Shoppes at Hall's Way offer numerous stores and there are shops located on Main Street that offer a quaint shopping excursion or take a short walk to the Person County Museum, library or catch a show at the Kirby Theatre. If that's not your cup of tea, take advantage of a 'girls day' at the uptown salons which offer fantastic hair stylists, but also manicures, pedicures and facials. Also, during certain times of the year, Uptown Roxboro hosts many events to attend, such as, "Personality", Rox 'n' Roll Car shows (which are held throughout the summer), Jingle on Main in December and miscellaneous craft shows throughout the year. If you have more guests show up than the number of guests on the rental agreement, please let us know ASAP to arrange for additional payment. 6. The house, decks, grill, fire pit, and yard are available for you to enjoy during your stay. Please do not leave grill or fire pit unattended. Please clean the grill after using. 7. There is plenty parking available in the driveway and on cement parking area. PLEASE keep vehicles on the cement and graveled areas ONLY. Don’t drive or park or turn around in any of the grass/yard areas. 8. PLEASE do not drive any vehicle on trails. 9. Motorized Recreation Vehicles ARE NOT PERMITTED. (Including ATV, 4-wheeler, dirt bike, etc.) 10. CHILDREN should NEVER wonder the property without adult supervision. 11. Children should NEVER be around the dock, pond, or river without adult supervision. 12. A $250 fee will be charged for not adhering to the above house rules. 13. We do have game cameras throughout the property and on the roads. There are no cameras in or on the house.

Huge oak trees cover the property allowing for cooling shade and breezes. The space The Next Door was originally designed as a "mother-in-law suite" and as such is self contained. It has its own heat and AC system, all electric. Approximately 550 square feet, it utilizes pocket doors to conserve space. Original wood floors compliment the living room and bedroom. The compact kitchen includes everything you need. Guest access Allie and I live in the main house at 234 and the apartment connects through an enclosed breezeway. Our laundry facilities are located in that area and at this time are not accessible to guests. Everything in the apartment is available for guests to enjoy.
