It is a completely fenced property (gates are removed in the winter) where you can let medium size dogs roam. It's great room allows people in kitchen still be a part of the group and see the TV during food preparation (not isolated rooms). More about the cabin: Our kitchen is fully equipped (except for food) and has a large island for food preparation/serving. WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS - The mountain areas receive severe winter weather especially in between the months of October- April. This may make driving conditions difficult and dangerous and access to our house an issue for those not prepared. The highway and side streets are plowed upon county availability so be prepared to have travel restrictions. Access to the home is moderately steep so a snow-capable vehicle is strictly recommended to get to the house during those times. A 4x4 vehicle with high clearance and snow tires and possibly chains is ideal for snowy and icy conditions. All-wheel drive vehicles are ok if the snow is not deep. Cal Trans requires the use of chains on vehicles during storms so be prepared and consider the conditions and your risk level or contact to host to move or cancel your booking. SNOW REMOVAL: Snow removal of the driveway and access to the front door are upon the host's availability with their vendors. The cabin is situated across three floors, and there are three secure baby gates provided for your tiny humans or pups. In addition, the house is fully equipped with baby gear, including a Pack n' Play, a highchair, changing table, baby bathtub, baby carrier hiking backpack, baby monitor/camera, baby dishware, outlet plug protectors, and table corner protectors. The roads leading up to Big Bear Lake are very windy and can be snowy and icy during the winter season. Vehicles without 4WD and/or smaller vehicles are required to carry chains even if it isn’t snowing during your drive in the winter months. If you have 4WD and mud/snow-rated tires, you may still be required to carry chains with you. Please check road conditions and CalTrans chains requirements before leaving. Other things to note Hot water in winter: We keep our water heater at a family-safe temperature (120°F) to help prevent little ones from getting burned. Since this is a mountain cabin and the system is not tankless, in freezing winter weather it can work best to space out showers rather than doing several back-to-back, so the heater has time to fully recover. 	 Outdoor furniture cushions (winter): To keep cushions dry and in good shape during rain/snow season, we don’t leave them outside in winter. They’re out all summer. If you choose to use them during your stay and rain is expected (or starts), we’d really appreciate your help bringing them in: small cushions in the large deck storage bin, and larger cushions under the two living room sofas. Outdoor fire feature: The fire feature is available for your enjoyment. Propane is the guest’s responsibility. A tank may be on-site, but it may not always be full on arrival. If it’s empty, message us. We can often help coordinate a refill or delivery, and it’s sometimes possible to have propane delivered within about an hour (subject to local vendor availability).
