Our easy access and proximity to the highway does result in some road noise that some guests may notice. The driveway is asphalt and accessible year round. Although, during winter weather, it is recommended to arrive in a vehicle that has 4x4 or is equipped with snow chains. When we have winter weather in the forecast, I do my best to communicate with guests to ensure proper preparation and have a safe and easy arrival.

Enter to the views of the mountains, surrounded by leather seating in the great room dominated by a stunning wood burning fireplace. The chef's kitchen has plentiful granite countertops and is fully stocked. The prep sink makes for easy clean up! The West wing has a king suite, with smart TV, deck access and a private bath. The East wing has a King bed with smart TV and a private door to the full bathroom. This bath has a tiled shower, granite counters, and also opens to the hallway.  The upper level features a spacious gaming loft with pool table and a wet bar. There is seating for others to spread out. The bedroom suite has a tiled shower and a beautiful, wooden vessel sink. There is a queen bed plus a daybed in this bedroom.  On the lower level, you'll find three proper bedrooms and a nook with built in twin over twin bunks. The West king suite has a shower, double jacuzzi tub, and double granite vanities. The East has another king bed with smart TV and a bedroom with a queen and two twin beds. They share a bathroom with a tiled shower and wooden counters with bowl vessels. The second great room offers deck access, plus a foosball and air hockey table.  - All BRMR homes offer well stocked kitchens with all utensils needed to cook meals. There is also a "starter set" of paper products at the house: a roll of toilet paper per bath, a couple garbage bags, a small vial of dishwashing liquid, a few tablets of dishwasher detergent, some laundry pods, a roll of paper towels, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and some makeup remover cloths. There are enough of these items for one night, or maybe two.  - Towels and linens will be provided for you. - AWD or 4WD vehicles are required November-April.  - Firewood may be purchased with a week's notice. Our lodge is nestled in the trees, where you can hear the cool mountain wind blow and the birds chirp. We have 2 smaller bedrooms, 1 bath and 1 loft with a day bed and pull out trundle upstairs. Downstairs in the basement, we have a 1200 SQ ft gameroom, with a 65" tv and sitting area, ping pong area, pool table area, and laundry area. We have a queen pull out sofa available in the gameroom. From the gameroom, you can access the patio and hot tub with a view of the grounds below. Our lot is approx. 7.5 acres, mostly wooded. We have a small creek and spring-fed pond (not for swimming) on the grounds. There is not another house in sight from our deck. It's wonderful! :) We have parking available in the front of the house for 2-3 cars, which is a flat gravel area. There is additional parking available in a driveway to the right of the house; however that driveway is a bit steep. Other things to note We provide a "starter-pack" of basic supplies, such as toilet paper, paper towels, dish detergent, trash bags, and handsoap. However, we are unable to restock the cabin often enough to keep up with the ongoing toilet paper/supply needs of 14 people over the course of an entire stay. We hope you understand! The good news is that our cabin is only a 5-minute drive from a Family Dollar store where you will find an ample supply of these items! We are about 15 minutes from a full-size grocery store.

The space So I've decided what I'm gonna do now So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains Where the spirits go now Over the hills where the spirits fly, oh, I really don't know - Misty Mountain Hop, Led Zeppelin   You and your loved ones are welcome at Misty Mountain Hop! This one-of-a-kind mountain home is more than a place to stay; it's an experience. As you pull up the paved driveway and unload, you’ll immediately see the welcoming entrance to the home. There’s a cobblestone patio waiting for you with a stone wood burning fireplace and Adirondack chairs around the outside, along with more seating.  Enter the home with just two steps up from the parking area. From the two-story entry, you’ll be able to see the kitchen and the dining areas along with the spacious living room. To your right are two dining tables. One seats 6-8 people and has a gas burning fireplace behind it, and the other seats 8 people and has a Juliet balcony behind it with an iron wrought two-seat table & chairs. There’s also 4 leather high-seating chairs at the kitchen bar counter.  A few steps beyond the dining areas will lead you into the sumptuously appointed gourmet kitchen. The chefs in your group will love preparing tasty dishes here! Custom cabinets, Corian counters, stainless steel appliances including a 6-burner gas range with pot filler, and a butler’s pantry with a sink, and pass-through window into the main kitchen.  To the left of the entry, you’ll find a corridor to a spacious half bath. Across the way and around the corner is a coat closet. A few steps down, the room opens up into the gracious living room. Vaulted ceilings and several windows create an open and airy feeling. Leather furnishings are arranged around a large TV and a gas fireplace, and there is a little table at the back of the room for board games as well as a wet bar with mini fridge and sink.  Off the living room is a three-season sunroom. Screened windows abound letting in ample natural light, and a selection of furniture is arranged around a gas fireplace. This is a wonderful room to relax with a good book and open the windows to enjoy the cool mountain breezes.  The top floor of the home is ideal for an entire family. In a semi-private nook you’ll find a daybed with twin trundle and its own TV with xBox One, as well as a shelf full of books for all ages. A small bedroom across the way offers a twin-over-full bunk bed set. And the enormous master suite offers a King bed with TV, sitting area with gas fireplace, and private bathroom with a soaking tub under a skylight, double glass basin-style vanities, a tiled shower with rain head and body sprayers, and a huge walk-in closet.  Downstairs you’ll find a huge game room with a pool table, TV with PlayStation4, and leather furnishings, as well as doors to the lower level deck which has a picnic table and a set of Adirondack chairs. Across from the game room is a wine cellar, which includes three wine refrigerators as well as a microwave and sink, and a half bath.   Down the hall is the first of three bedroom suites. This room offers a King bed, TV, and a queen-sized fold-out couch, as well as a private bathroom with a tiled shower. Around the corner are two more suites; one offers a King bed and TV and its bath has a tub/shower combination and the second has two Queen beds, TV, and a bath with tub/shower.  You may be asking by now, “Where is the sixth bedroom?” Around the corner from the kitchen, you’ll find that this spectacular house continues with more wonderful spaces! Off the hallway behind the kitchen you’ll find the garage, with one bay available to park in (inside access only) as well as a foosball table, ping pong table, and set of cornhole boards. Up a flight of stairs at the end of the hall is an entire separate single-room apartment which features a cozy kitchenette, a sitting area with a TV and Xbox One and sleeper sofa, and a King bed and daybed/trundle. There is also a full bath with shower in this apartment.  The back yard here is a great space to gather and make lasting memories. The outdoor kitchen built into the deck features granite counters and built-in fridge, Egg grill, and gas grill. There’s an 8-person table as well as a seating area with a heater. A couple steps down from the deck is a firepit area with Adirondacks around it, perfect for a night of S’mores and storytelling.  With all that this spectacular home offers, you may not ever want to leave. Beautifully vaulted ceilings, a log-lined great staircase, gas fireplace with HDTV mounted above, and cozy couches & easy chairs provide plenty of space for everyone. There’s room for the entire group to enjoy meals together, between the picnic-style table with Captains chairs and long bench-style seating as well as five leather stools at the oversized kitchen island. And those meals everyone enjoys will be a snap to prepare in the open, airy kitchen offering expansive granite countertops, stainless steel appliances including a French door refrigerator with icemaker and a gas range.  Head upstairs or a friendly game of pool or foosball in the open loft. The gas fireplace and TV create a welcoming ambience for an evening of fun. There’s also a table where you can enjoy card and board games, as well as an overstuffed easy chair to catch up on your favorite book (or catch a nap, we won’t judge!)  The outside offers as much as the interior here at Sweet Serenity. Upstairs the sleeping accommodation is designed to be suitable for a family with multiple kids, as you’ll find a second King suite with private bath with shower and separate tub, as well as two more spaces that share a half bathroom. During quiet hours (10PM – 8AM), all outdoor noise should be kept to a minimum. - Rental guests have access to the grounds around the lake house, all hiking trails, and may fish in the lake. Guests are not permitted inside the lake house or on its patio. ATVs are not permitted on the hiking trails.  Additional notes: - This home allows up to 2 mature dogs. Next to the Watauga River, guests can enjoy the idyllic setting outside or spend time in the newly renovated inside. The main level offers dining in the formal room, with additional seating in the breakfast table and the counter. There is a gorgeous kitchen with matte steel appliances and granite counters, both Keurig and drip coffee, and easy access to the dining or living rooms. Near the front entrance is a half bath for convenience. Off the living area is the primary bedroom with a king bed and Roku TV. Off the living area is the primary bedroom with a king bed and Roku TV. The attached full bathroom has a custom tiled shower with stone vanity counters.  Head upstairs and you'll find two wings, each with two bedrooms and a shared bath between them in the hallway.
