Our lake house is a tranquil space on Long Lake, a 2,860-acre all-sports lake less than ten minutes from Traverse City. We invite you to enjoy our 3,300 square foot home just steps from the 84 feet of private lake frontage. The shallow, sandy-bottom area in the lake surrounding the dock is perfect for kids to splash and play. Relax and enjoy the spectacular sunsets at the seating area at the end of the 80-foot dock, from either the upper or lower deck, or from the patio/fire pit area. The space As you walk in the front door, you are met by gorgeous views of Long Lake out the back of the house through the expansive windows in the main floor living room. This level is open concept with a kitchen, dining, and living room all with magnificent views. The kitchen has cookware, a coffee maker (Keurig K-Duo), a crock pot, and everything you need to cook for your crew. The living room has a smart TV, two couches, and built-in bookcases around a cozy stone gas fireplace. The dining table seats 8-10 with three counter-height chairs at the kitchen peninsula. Sliding glass doors lead to a large deck featuring dining, and casual seating, and a propane grill. Also on the main floor is a large kitchen pantry and laundry room. Past the laundry room, you enter a garage that has been transformed into a rec room complete with ping-pong, foosball, air hockey, and other games. A second fridge and casual seating complete this entertainment space. The private main floor primary bedroom has a king bed, a spacious en suite bathroom with a shower and a separate jetted tub, and a sliding door to the large deck, with spectacular views of the lake. The other main floor bedroom is a bunkroom, with two twin-over-full bunk beds. There is a full bath in the hallway just outside the bunkroom that has a tub/shower. Upstairs there are three bedrooms; each with a queen bed. Two of the bedrooms have a beautiful view of the lake and closets. The bathroom in the hall is a tidy ¾ bathroom with a shower, single sink, and linen cupboard for storage. Downstairs in the walk-out basement is a second living room with a sectional couch with a pull-out queen-size bed. There is another smart television with internet connection and a game table. The downstairs half bath also has a sauna with a rinse-off shower. Walk out through the basement slider to a large partly shaded deck steps from the dock. There is also a new flagstone patio with a fire pit, perfect for gathering in the evenings for sunsets, stories, and s’mores. Our clean, rustic, 3 bedroom, 2 bath cottage can comfortably accommodate up to a maximum of 6 guests & is on the water. TC has plenty of shopping, eating and wineries for you to enjoy or you can just lay on our 80 ft dock and catch some rays or take a swim in the crystal clear water. Please note that we purchase a Short Term Rental certificate from Long Lake Township each year: Certificate STR22-001194 The space Our family has enjoyed this very simple, rustic, tasteful and cozy cottage for more than 80 years. We can comfortably accommodate a maximum of 6 guests. Beautiful and crystal clear Long Lake is only 50 feet from the porch door so do bring your bathing suit and sunblock. Guest access Enjoy our entire family cottage, but please treat it with care so we can continue to share it. Lake & Beach Area: There’s a sandy beach area perfect for kids to dig, build sandcastles, or relax by the water. Dyer Lake has a mostly sandy bottom, but we’re required to maintain a natural “live edge,” so water access is limited to the dock or beside the beach area. If you’d like a larger swimming beach, there are several beautiful options within a 10-minute drive. Trash & Maintenance: Trash and recycling are picked up on Fridays. If you don’t mind, please bring both bins to the road Thursday evening and return them after pickup. Rarely, we may perform necessary maintenance during your stay—with notice, of course. A Few Final Notes: This is a Northern Michigan lakefront home, so you may encounter some of our local critters (bugs, wildlife, etc.). Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay.  Quiet location on a wooded lot just steps away from Bass Lake.  The Ohio cabin is only 6 miles from Traverse City, close to wineries, outdoor activities, bike trails and other vacation opportunities.  There is a private dock for watching the lake wildlife, or launching your kayaks or canoe.  The Ohio cabin is perfect for couples of a family with two bedrooms and one bathroom that are nicely appointed.  There is a private fire pit too.

The space is a blend of form and function where small spaces serve their purpose and everything has its place. You'll find the open floor plan, modern amenities and vast outdoor space make 500 sq. ft. feel pretty big. The cabin was built with sustainability & inclusivity in mind - you will find the lower level of the cabin is universally accessible and there are many environmentally friendly features to be found throughout. We hope it is a place you can come to slow down, rejuvenate, connect with nature and make some memories! ***IMPORTANT items to note: #1: THERE IS NO LAKE ACCESS ON CABIN PROPERTY. You will have to drive about 5 miles to the Bass Lake Public Boat launch area. There is a beach and a sand bar where families and dogs can swim. The dock and lake frontage within cabin view is not owned by us, we ask that you please stay on the cabin property during your stay. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - CABIN OVERVIEW: BEDROOM 1: Full sized bed w/ bathroom & closet attached. Please note that this is the only bathroom in the cabin and it is a shower only, no tub. We have stocked a clothes steamer & blowdryer + hair straightener in the top shelf of the closet for guest use. There is a tv in this bedroom and streaming services such as Netflix & Hulu are preloaded. There are games & books stocked on the bedroom shelves. LOFT: King sized bed - you will have to climb the ladder to get up to this & the ceiling height is not quite tall enough to stand. A king sized bed makes this space super comfy! BATHROOM: You will find plenty of amenities including hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. During the cold months, make sure to utilize the heated floor feature :) and make sure to test out the light up mirror! There are white towels stocked for bathing/hot tub use. You will also find makeup towels, & extra toilet paper if needed. Please use the dark gray towels (in laundry room) for dogs/mud. *** Additional eco-friendly toilet paper is on top shelf in bathroom. KITCHEN: Stocked with all the necessary essentials you'll need to make and serve a full meal as well as seasonings, spices and cooking oil. Please note that the pans are stainless steel and when pre-heated with a tad bit of olive oil they are nonstick. Our most common questions regarding the kitchen are about the coffee maker. The coffee maker uses K-cups. All appliances stainless steel and include a dishwasher, electric range & refrigerator (this is a smaller fridge but plenty big enough for your week / weekend stay! You'll find the dishwasher to the right of the sink and eco-friendly dish tabs stocked in the laundry area in a labeled glass container to use as needed. *** Please note that the cabin runs on well water - you can find more info about this in the "Important to Note" section below. LAUNDRY & MUD ROOM: The laundry area comes stocked with powdered tide (in labeled glass container) and eco-friendly dryer balls as an alternative to dryer sheets - please use these as needed. On the laundry room shelves you will find the first aid kit and lint rollers. Also in the laundry room are doggy waste bags and dark gray dog towels. *** We ask that you please clean up after your pet! There are also other dogs in the area so we ask that you keep your pet on a leash outside. OUTSIDE: The cabin has two screened in porches - both have cushioned couches/chairs to sit and relax. We consider the front deck to be more of a sun deck and the the back to be more of a private deck for relaxing in or out of your private hot tub (open year-round) overlooking the lake - on a clear night be sure to look up, you can see the stars! Also off the back deck is a secluded wooded area that is one of our favorite spots for evening bonfires, roasting s'mores, grilling on the park grill, eating at the picnic table or relaxing on the hammock. You'll also find a private outdoor shower where you can easily wash yourself or your pets off after being in the lake or hot tub. There is a large storage bin with outdoor games, yoga mats and extra towels next to the hot tub/shower. *** Tip: Be sure to plug in the string lights on the back deck for some great evening ambiance. CARPORT/GARAGE AREA: The carport has enough space to cover one car. It has side walls that shield from rain and snow. This space is also where you will find both the trash and recycling bins - please recycle when possible! *** We just added an electric vehicle charger so that those traveling by EV can charge for free - please use as needed ☺ LOCATION: Our most common question is about the home's proximity to Downtown Traverse City - It is about 15 minutes to downtown TC and Grand Traverse Bay where you will find all of the best restaurants, shopping and beaches. The cabin is about 10 minutes to Grand Traverse Mall area where you will find all the necessities for groceries, etc. The cabin overlooks Bass lake which is a small, spring-fed, 343 acre, all sports lake which offers a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. There are five islands on the lake, each one making it more unique - also makes for a fun kayak or SUP adventure! Bass lake also has a small public beach and boat launch within a 10 minute drive from the cabin. Here you can jut in kayaks and SUP's and take your family, friends or dogs for a swim. ***Please keep in mind there is no lake access on the cabin property. To access the lake you will need to visit the public landing. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Whether you are looking for a secluded getaway to reconnect with nature, an adventure, or simply a place to relax & unwind with modern comforts, The Nook Up North invites you to do just that! IMPORTANT TO NOTE: - The loft is not tall enough to stand up in and you have to climb a ladder to access it. - There is no kept trail to the lake from the cabin. There is a public landing within driving distance to take dogs for a swim. The cabin overlooks bass lake which can be seen from the back door, deck, hot tub & fire pit areas. The lake is more visible in the fall/winter months when the leaves have fallen. ♥ We love animals and strongly believe your fur friends should be able to travel with you! We have stocked dog bowls for food and water (washed between stays) at the cabin as well as dog towels and dog waste bags so that they can feel right at home too!

This charming cottage on Silver Lake is the perfect vacation destination! Our cottage sleeps 6 with 2 queen bedrooms & queen sleeper sofa in the sun room. Silver Lake is a beautiful 600 acre lake that offers boating, kayaking, fishing, skiing, swimming! Or stay where you are to relax by the water on the *private dock - grill, fire pit & sandy frontage close by. Our cottage is always kept pet free, keeping the house and yard extra clean for our guests! *Dock guaranteed Memorial Day - Labor Day. The space The cottage has a fully stocked kitchen, full bathroom, washer/dryer, dining area, & bonus room with amazing views of the water. We provide linens, bath towels (wash cloths not included) kitchen necessities, etc. Located just 7 miles to downtown Traverse City, it's a quick drive in for shopping, dining, and sightseeing. *Due to a short warm weather season, dock & waterfront are guaranteed open and available from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. It's possible they will be available before &/or after these dates, but not guaranteed. Other things to note * We provide enough toilet paper, paper towel, garbage bags & dish soap to get your trip started; additional supplies can be purchased at one of several grocery stores close by * The cottage has well water. Relax. Put Your Feet Up. Enjoy The View. This older, 2-bedroom cottage overlooks Dyer Lake with its beautiful sunset skies. Save $$ on not boarding your pups. Plenty of wood for the fire pit down by the lake. 2 Kayaks. 1 Canoe. 1 SUP. Pedal Boat. Bass/Bluegill fishing. Propane Grill on deck. Human swimming not recommended. Fenced-in area for the dogs. Fully equipped. Huge Smart TV. Detached garage. 7 miles to downtown TC and/or Interlochen. The space The 'Cozy' was built in the 50’s; now remodeled and winterized. Located on a well-maintained gravel, country lane The bay window and deck look out over Dyer Lake with wonderful sunsets/skies most every night. Dog-friendly neighbors. Swimming is not advised as the 40 acre lake is shallow with a mucky bottom. When the dogs jump in the lake, I’ve a hose to rinse them off, with lots of towels, shampoo, etc. An open living/dining room/kitchen. Microwave/Convention Oven, large toaster oven, Air Fryer, NuWave Induction Burner with a Wok. 3-burner electric stove (pan has to be placed on burner for it to begin to heat up). Coffee/Filters. Bean Grinder. Teas. Creamers. Keurig and a large coffee pot. Condiments, spices, S’more ingredients, etc. Paper plates available. 55” TV in living room. A Lakeside bedroom with a Queen bed including a SmartTV and another East facing bedroom with a full bed. The bathroom has a tub and endless hot water. Well water, with a water softener and filtered water available. Apartment washer/dryer on site. Linens and lots of towels provided. Fully Air Conditioned. New furnace and whole house AC. A two-burner Infrared gas grill is on the deck, along with a round dining table/seating, umbrella, along with gravity loungers. The fire pit, down by the beach area, has a bench/chairs with plenty of firewood. The kayaks/SUP/Peddle Boat are stored on the beach area. Life jackets are stored in a trunk in the dog pen. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is 30 miles Northwest (home of Cherry Republic). Moomer’s Ice Cream is five miles away, across the street from Fresh Coast, a wonderful deli. For hiking and swimming nearby, Timber Shores has dog-friendly trails (a short drive past Moomer’s Ice Cream, 3 miles from the Cottage), Fern Lake is a close distance from the parking lot and Long Lake is a little further. Both lakes have sandy bottoms and offer wonderful, uncrowded swimming. Early mornings and evenings, you’ll hear the Loons flying over Dyer Lake. The Blue Heron or Sand Hill Cranes usually show up in the cattails. Bald Eagle flies over and fishes in Dyer Lake often. Maps, brochures and things to do will be included with the House Manual. Smoking outside, please. Oh, and no burning candles inside the house. Thanks! Guest access Guests will have access to the two-car garage, fast Internet, Cable TV, and all house amenities. Other things to note When checking in, most folks find parking down by the cottage, in front of the dog pen, works well. Before your arrival, the cottage will have been throughly cleaned and disinfected. We will have extra cleaning supplies available to you during your stay.
