Welcome to Burton House, Palm Springs! Our 1958 oasis is located on a large, private, corner lot with stunning mountain views. Original features include the "woggle" ceiling and fireplace, and Pecky Cypress paneling. Interior by Laura Kirar, featuring custom furniture, lighting and beds, and important mid-Century furnishings. Project was published in "Interiors" magazine and featured in a Modernism Week tour. Bath products by Ortigia, Sicilia. The space The house was built in 1958, but we didn't want to furnish it with period furniture, as we felt it would be too formal. Instead we opted for more relaxed and glamorous 1970s pieces, while making sure the color scheme and fabrics reflected the natural materials in the house-- cork flooring, wood paneling-- and respecting the indoor/outdoor flow. Guest access The property is yours! We maintain a couple of locked closets for our extensive caftan collection, but otherwise, use everything, open all the drawers, explore the garage! We have lots of pool floats, extra vintage glassware and serveware. It is further expected that noise created at the home will not be audible beyond the property line. Quiet time is between 8pm and 8am. All bookings made during Coachella, Stagecoach or other festivals will require a $500 refundable deposit. This deposit will be returned to you after you check out assuming there’s no damage or broken rules during your stay. If you choose to cancel your reservation prior to checking in, the $500 deposit will not be refunded. The remaining balance of the reservation will follow our cancellation policy. During the summer the thermostat may be locked at a certain temp range and not able to go lower than that range. This is due to the extreme temperatures in the desert. We can’t allow thermostats to be set below this range or we risk the AC unit freezing entirely, and not working during your stay.
