The space The check-in time is 4 PM . The check-out time is 11 AM. At the CHECKOUT we are asking guests to: 1) Turn air conditioning/heating OFF 2) Switch ON all inside ceiling fans 3) Open all windows, interior and kitchen/porch doors if it is not raining. The CreekHouse is an easily accessible vacation destination, Located just 3 miles north of the quaint town of Bakersville. You will be greeted by songbirds and sounds of rushing water. Once you arrive, you won't want to leave, so be certain to get your supplies beforehand. After spending some time at the water, you may want to relax on the large screened-in porch or in the screened-in gazebo, walk through the woods or spend quiet time in prayerful meditation in the boulder garden. We got you covered for rain or shine with inside/outside games, books for every age, coloring books and color pencils, stargazer telescope and books about star watching, bird watching and local activities, flower press to create memories of the local fauna and lots of toys for every age. The CreekHouse includes all the comforts such as central air, fiber optic internet, WiFi, two flat screen TVs with YoutubeTV channels, DVD players and lots of wonderful DVD's, TV and DVD player in the master bedroom too, ceiling fans in each room. Master bedroom with private bath, walk-in closet and fireplace. Washer and dryer, ceramic tile floors and all the comforts of a home. The bedrooms are separated by the kitchen and living room for extra privacy. Fully equipped kitchen is waiting for your masterpiece. In the fall season you can take advantage of the apples and black walnuts on the property. But being at the CreekHouse it's about connecting with nature and being outside. You might start your day with coffee on the screen porch or you might want to cook breakfast out on the grill that is located on the multi level deck. You may then wish to take your breakfast platter to the screened gazebo down by the water to enjoy listening to the sounds of nature while you eat. Or you might want to walk around the pond and watch the dragonflies and frogs scattering. around. In the evening, you can watch in delight as the lightning bugs put on a show that will take you back to your childhood memories of capturing them in a bottle. Staying at the CreekHouse is certain to be a vacation you will always remember. Hurricane Helene caused damage to our landscaping and the stairs leading down to the creek was ripped off. The little “beach” we had washed away. We will try to create a way down to the creek from the gazebo area in the future, and hopefully our little beach will build up in a few months. A heat pump central air and a full-house generator ensure comfort and resilience. Enjoy hiking the trails & taking in the beautiful scenery of the surrounding Pisgah National Forest with easy access at Carvers Gap for day or section hiking on the Appalachian Trail. In the valley on the Tennessee side is the popular Roan Mountain State Park. The space The cottage has two bedrooms and one bathroom. It has an indoor gas fireplace and a lovely front porch for sitting and viewing the beautiful mountain valley. It is in a remote location and is 7 miles driving distance (less than 1 mile as the crow flies) from the top of Roan Mountain. Guest access Full cottage. Other things to note Other attractions nearby include numerous trout streams in the area; rafting and tubing on the Toe (Estatoe) River with outfitters in nearby Loafers Glory; Grandfather Mountain, Lake James, and Mt. Mitchell state parks; the Blue Ridge Parkway; Linville Falls; and Crabtree Falls. The town of Bakersville, home to the annual NC Rhododendron Festival the third week of June, is 5 miles away. Spruce Pine, the largest town in Mitchell County, hosts the annual NC Mineral & Gem Festival in August. It is 14 miles away. Home to the Parkway Playhouse Theater, the town of Burnsville is about 20 miles away.

Relax with the whole family in this peaceful old (but new) farmhouse! Spring has arrived in the mountains! The phrase “The Mountains are Calling” is never truer than in the spring! Our home offers a peaceful, relaxing home for you to enjoy with your family, friends or your special someone. The large deck offers the perfect spot for morning coffee while watching the deer or cattle in the farm across the way. If you’ve never done that, you are in for a treat! Oh, and sometimes you see wild turkeys The space There is nothing like being in the mountains! Nestled between the quaint town of Bakersville and the Roan mountains I have fallen head over heals in love with sitting on the back deck watching the deer. That is if I’m not out hiking, tubing or antiquing. Yet, when I’m inside I feel like I’m away from the hustle and bustle of the world in this comfortably decorated home. Peaceful and tranquil both come to mind as you wander through the house. I love to hang out int the kitchen with the coffee and cocktail bar…it’s hard to believe this used to be an old farmhouse! Guest access There is plenty of space..three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. An ample size kitchen with a comfortable dining room that flows into the living room all for the convenience of your visit. Having total access to inside and outside of the home (except for the basement) and an old barn on the property. Everything about the house is there for your convenience. Other things to note Have you always wanted to stay in the country or mountains but like the convenience and comfort of the city? This home is within the city limits of Bakersville, yet feels like you are in the country. There are cows that you can watch while enjoying coffee on the spacious deck. And nope, no cow smell! While it is a old but new farmhouse it feels more like a spacious bungalow.

The space Living room, kitchenette and bathroom on main floor. Bedroom and deck on lower level accessible by opening the hatch and descending the ladder or by using the exterior stairs. Window unit AC upstairs. It’s usually cool in the downstairs but you can leave the ladder hatch open and the AC will cool both floors. Space heaters up and down are more than adequate to keep it warm even in the winter. Guest access Feel free to roam the entire property. There are many spots to sit beside the creek. When ripe in late summer you may pick fruit from the orchard. We have apples, peaches, pears and grapes. The blueberries are beside the garage but sorry, they all go for Nannette’s famous blueberry jamb. Other things to note Have a motorcycle? Ride it here or trailer it. There’s space to park your trailer by the garage and to keep your bike inside. Gene will be glad to tell you the best places to ride or even lead! Any style is welcome. Gene has a Harley, a Valkyrie and a Hornet (Honda 919 sport bike) and lives to ride! Like crafts? Nannette has a huge craft room beside the garage. She will share and demonstrate.
