All guests booking a stay between November-May should anticipate the possibility of tire cables/chains being required to travel to Big Bear. It is the guest's responsibility to check road conditions and the weather forecast before driving up the mountain. REMOVAL OF TRASH There is a single trash bin for weekly municipal trash pick-up service. You are welcome to use that, assuming it is not already full. Guests are responsible for taking any trash that doesn't fit to one of the city's trash dump sites at the end of each stay. This is an easy drop-off where you just toss the trash in a dumpster and let them know you stayed at an Airbnb nearby. CLEANING SERVICES Our cabin is fastidiously cleaned after each stay by our fabulous, trusted cleaner who knows our home inside and out; this enables us to provide the same amazing experience for all our guests! FIREPLACE: We do not provide firewood, but prior guests may have left unused firewood, so please check first. Firewood is easy to find in town at DIY, Vons, Stater Bros, etc., all of which are about 8 min from the house. Guests agree to only use wood and not to overload the stove. Never use Duraflame or similar synthetic logs. Never place hot ashes on the ground, in the snow, or anywhere besides the metal ash can provided. HOT TUB: The hot tub will need to be set at the desired temperature (it is set to 98 degrees for your stay). The hot tub heats at a rate of 6 degrees per hour (plan accordingly). Please keep spa cover closed and locked when not in use. BARBECUE: The propane BBQ grill should only be used outdoors. Keep children at least three feet away from the grill area. Never leave your grill unattended. Always make sure your gas grill lid is open before lighting it. Do not move the grill. Propane tanks are filled as needed or when reported empty by guests. If you find the propane tank runs out during your stay, there should be a full one to replace it. Please tell us that you have done so, so that we can refill the empty for the next guests. BUNK BEDS: Parents should supervise children while climbing on the bunk beds and assess their own child’s ability to safely climb up and down the ladder and/or sleep on the top bunk. Children of any age should not jump off of the top bunk to avoid injury. By allowing your children to play/climb on the bunk bed, you assume all risk for this activity. STAIRS There are two sets of stairs inside the house (to the loft and bottom floor). If you have young children that can't be trusted around stairs, please monitor them closely and/or bring your own baby gates, as we do not provide them. Any injuries incurred are the sole responsibility of the guests. THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT BIG BEAR IN THE WINTER * You are required to carry tire chains in your vehicle when traveling in mountain communities in the state of California from November through April. * All guests understand that during the winter there may be potential slip and fall hazards on the property due to the ice. All guests must use caution. * Snow Removal for the street is a city/county plowing service. * Guests responsibility: the decks, grill, and/or hot tub may be snowed in depending on how much snow any given storm produces. Shoveling may be required to gain access. A snow shovel will be provided at the home. * If > 4" of snow falls, the parking pad will be plowed and the front steps down to the front door will be cleared, but we can make no guarantees for the timing, especially if it was a large storm. Some shoveling may be required of the guest. * Vehicles are to be parked in designated parking areas on property only. Parking on the road is not permitted when snow is present. Any illegally parked cars are subject to towing; applicable fines/towing fees are the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner. * Maximum parking for 3 cars * Sledding on the property is NOT recommended. Adjoining the kitchen is the dining area with ample seating as well as a spacious family room with a large screen TV and piano for entertaining. There is a loveseat and pull-out queen sleeper sofa bed that can accommodate extra guests.   As you go up one of two staircases, you will discover a large recreation room with leather sofas, a game table, a large screen TV, a pool table and an electronic game station that will keep the kids busy for hours. One of the owners is a very gifted artist and has put her "personal" touch with 90% of the "bear" paintings on the walls through out the lodge being hand painted. The other owner is a very skilled wood craftsman that added a very woodsy/rustic atmosphere to lodge. Between both of them, our visitors will thoroughly enjoy their Bear Hug Lodge!! Guest access No need to drive. The lodge is walking distance the a great snow play area-Big Bear Snow Play for the winter and Speedway Formula 1 go-karting the rest of the year. They also have Rope courses. Free Shuttle bus stop is walking distance from the lodge. Catch the trolley bus for free to Bear Lake Village and restaurants. Avoid the worries of over indulging and driving. As we stated before, you can rent 4 wheel drive vehicles or take guided tours both on and off road. It is in close proximity (less than a mile) to Snow Summit and the shops on Moonridge, and is equipped with a Level 2 EV charger. The home also has Wi-Fi, a hot tub, a ping pong table and outdoor seating area for warmer nights, and a cozy fireplace for winter. The space The space is perfect for a large family and/or friend gathering. As you enter the house, you'll be greeted by high ceilings and a large open concept living room and kitchen, with a formal dining room in the distance. Each of the four bedrooms is situated on the ground floor, together with 2.5 bathrooms. The main bedroom at the end of the hallway has a king bed and an en suite bathroom with a soaking tub and separate standing shower. Two bedrooms have one queen bed each, and one bedroom has two twin beds with two twin trundle beds (i.e. 4 twin beds in total). One of the bedrooms with a queen bed also has a modern ladder desk for those who are looking to work remotely. The loft area has a pull-out queen bed and full bathroom. We have converted our large garage into a game room complete with air hockey table, shuffleboard, basketball, arcade games, ski-ball, sit down racing, and more. It is essentially a full-on arcade: feel free to unleash the kids in here! They will absolutely love it. In the front of the home is a private outdoor area with a mural, jacuzzi, and fire-pit area. In the back of the home is a spacious fenced in backyard. We have plenty of outdoor games for you to take outside, weather permitting! Situated on a quiet street (White Mountain Road), our large house offers great views of the mountains and ski resorts. It's 4 miles from Big Bear Lake, 3.5 miles from Snow Summit and 12 houses away from hiking trails and sledding areas in the National Forest. It is extremely convenient to restaurants, shops, the airport, main roads, and of course, the slopes! The home is stocked incredibly well; we have a minimum of two bed sets (per bed), numerous bath and beach towels for the jacuzzi, as well as hand and makeup towels. The kitchen is stocked with high quality appliances and everything you’d need to cook a full Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner. We provide soap, conditioner, and body wash in each shower. We don’t want you to have to bring anything but clothes and food, so you can pack minimally and let us handle the rest. PARKING: We have a concrete driveway that is able to fit up to 6 small sedans, or 4 large SUV’s (tandem parking). BEDROOMS: There are four bedrooms-- the master bedroom is upstairs, and the remaining three are downstairs. The rooms are as follows: Bedroom 1 – King Bed, The master bedroom would not be complete without a brand new King sized bed, fireplace, and awesome views of the mountain. Bedroom 2 - King Bed, This bedroom does have an ensuite bathroom as well as mountain views and direct deck access. Bedroom 3 – Queen Bed, Private corner bedroom with deck access and mountain views. Bedroom 4 – 2 Bunk Beds (Full sized). This room accommodates up to 4 adults. Each individual bed is a Full, for a total of 4 beds (2 bunks). The custom bed frames are gorgeous and very Big Bear-style. This room also has direct access to the fenced front yard where you’ll find the jacuzzi and fire-pit. LIVING ROOM: For some, the focal point of the family room is the fireplace and for others it's the 85-inch top of the line Sony TV. The fireplace is gas and is very easy to turn on/ off. You won’t need to deal with firewood. The TV has Spectrum Cable with HD channels. We also have free high-speed Spectrum Internet up to 800 Mbps download. We have a pool table in the main room, large couch that seats 8, a dining table that seats 8, and barstools at the kitchen island that seat an additional 4, plus benches. FAMILY ROOM (DOWNSTAIRS): The downstairs family room has games, a couch, another huge TV, and is a great secondary place to lounge and hang out. GAME ROOM (GARAGE): The most fun room of the house. Our garage is now the hot spot of the home! We’ve got games for the whole family. Ping Pong, Pool, Dual Ski Ball, Air Hockey, Pop a Shot Basketball, Darts, Bar Shuffleboard, Ms. PacMan, Big Buck Hunter, Foosball, and Car Racing w/ over 50 pre built games. KITCHEN: Our brand new kitchen is large with a ton of counter space. Making large family dinners has never been more convenient. We have a double Island as well as Double Sinks. It has a stainless steel fridge with an ice-maker, oven, stove, microwave, dishwasher and a double sink with a garbage disposal. The kitchen cabinets include dishes, glasses, coffee mugs, silverware, and wine glasses. There are a large variety of pots and pans, frying pans, cooking utensils, mixing bowls, bake ware, can opener, corkscrew, cooking and steak knives. There is a toaster, blender, Keurig 2.0 coffee maker, K-Cup holder/dispenser that we keep full with a variety of pods, a regular coffee pot and filters. We have plenty of dishes, plates and two drawers full of tableware to accommodate large groups. A spice rack and a full spice cabinet contain both common and unique spices for your cooking needs. Just off the kitchen is our bar with seating for 4, as well as a large dining table with seating for up to 8, with additional seating in the living room, and large deck. The Upstairs is great for family gatherings and is the perfect place to watch the game. Our 85 inch TV can be seen from the whole room! OUTDOORS: The back yard is accessible from the downstairs deck, gate, and through the jacuzzi and fire-pit area. It is completely fenced in with a gate to the front yard, making it a very dog friendly outdoor area for your pet to safely explore. We have corn hole as well as horseshoe set up for additional family fun! The front yard is also completely private and has a jacuzzi, mural, fire-pit, and plenty of seating. The deck off the living room also offers extra seating and breathtaking views. OUTDOOR CAMERAS: We have an outdoor camera to watch the home when no one is there.
