The road is a little steep and bumpy at the first bend so we recommend an SUV or truck for added comfort, especially during rainy months. Our primary housekeeper drives a little VW bug and makes it without trouble. Keep it slow and steady in a low gear for best results. There’s a circle driveway for easy pull-through when exiting. Keep an eye out for wildlife on the way up; the mountain is home to many furry friends! Arriving at night? No problem- we have a well-lit path lining the driveway and up to the front entrance. Contactless check-in is flexible anytime after 4PM. Check-out is at 10AM. We comply with and exceed all COVID-19 Airbnb sanitizing regulations and take extra measures to sanitize high touch areas and ALL bedding between each guest. It is a one lane half paved half gravel path to the home. There is no need for 4x4. It is about a 7 minute drive up the mountain to the cabin. There is plenty of wild life, so put your windows down and see what you can find and hear on this fun and exciting drive. Our 4 bedroom 4 bathroom cabin is 3 floors, basement, main floor and top floor. There are 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the main floor and 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom on the top floor. The basement/game room also has a full bathroom. There are 3 decks on the property. A large deck facing the back where our large 7 person hot tub sits. The hot tub has jets, water fall, and even a blue tooth stereo system. This area is screened in and also has a table and sitting area. The side deck has a small seating area with bistro lights and a BBQ grill. There are stairs that lead down to the bottom floor where you find our fire pit, hammocks and cornhole. The final deck is private off of the master bedroom. Guest access With the exception of 3 closets and our crawlspaces, the entire home is at your disposal.

Please note: There is a Dancing Tree Festival which is held every other year during the last weekend of June. On alternating years, the Boogie Festival takes place around the same time. These long-standing community events have been part of the area even before the cabin was built, and while we can’t control the behavior of attendees, we’re happy to provide information or guidance to guests booking during those weekends so they can plan accordingly.

The main level has a large great room with a upgraded kitchen featuring granite counter tops, stainless appliances, wine cooler and a high bar with stools. The dining area has a large custom made Cherry wood table with seating for 8 guests.  The main level great room has soft leather furniture positioned around a massive gas log stone fireplace with a 60 inch TV with satellite. The master bedroom is on the main level in this cabin with a rustic walnut king size bed, TV with satellite and double doors leading to the main level open deck with hot tub. The master bath has over-sized tile shower and a large jetted garden tub.  The main level also offers a beautiful Outdoor Living Space adjacent to the large partial covered wrap around porch.The Outdoor Living Space has a gorgeous stone wood burning fireplace with a dining area (perfect for enjoying your meals with a mountain view!), two cozy couches and a 48 inch flat screen TV. This is the perfect place to enjoy the pristine mountain views in a luxurious setting. The partially covered deck has Amish crafted double glider and rockers, a large hot tub, a gas grill perfect for assisting you with evening meals. Soak in the hot tub as you take in the gorgeous vista until the sun sets, then count the stars until the sun rises over the mountains! A main level hot tub is a unique find!  The upper level has two bedrooms with king beds in each room and standard shower bathroom with granite countertops in between. This magnificent property greets you with its beautiful exterior design with timber and stone columns. Five Star Lodge has large deck wrapping around the front of the cabin, facing the view on the main level and game room level. The main level deck has a beautiful outdoor entertaining area with a large stone wood burning fireplace, TV, outdoor seating all conveniently screened in for added comfort. The deck transitions to offer more outdoor seating in open air, as well as a gas grill and an outdoor hanging bed. This unique custom built hanging bed is perfect for enjoying the mountain views! Inside this level is the jaw-dropping kitchen and dining/living space. This open concept kitchen is truly a work of art and a chef’s paradise with an amazing amount of space surrounded by custom designed cabinets, tons of counter space, two dishwashers and the largest island you have seen! The chef won't miss a minute of the game either, since the kitchen has its own TV installed above the stainless-steel refrigerator. If you can tear yourself away from this dream kitchen, this space flows into the great room with its soaring ceilings and all glass front facing the view, this makes for a picturesque place to enjoy meals at the table or lounge in the living room. The living space has comfy seating around the large stone fireplace with a TV atop the log mantel. The farmhouse style dining table has seating for 8 and the kitchen island seats 8 guests. Downstairs on the lower level you'll find a game room with beautiful stained concrete floors featuring a pool table, shuffleboard, arcade game, wet bar with seating for 4, a stone gas log fireplace with a TV. This is a great entertaining space for after dinner drinks, a friendly game of pool or just enjoying each other’s company. The other two bedrooms are  on this level as well. One bed room has a king size bed, TV and its own bathroom. The other bedroom has unique built-in log bunk beds, with each bunk being a Queen size. This bunk room has log slab steps and rough sawn lumber for added touches of rustic luxury. The second full bath on this level is just outside the bunk room. The bunk room offers a TV as well. Outside the game room, you'll find the deck which boasts the hot tub! The mountain views are easily visible from the hot tub and the deck also offers seating for after-hot tub snacks! A: The nearest hospital is Blue Ridge Medical Center, roughly 13 minutes away. Q: How are the road conditions in the winter? A: The local community maintains the roads so that they can be easily accessed with a 4-wheel-drive vehicle. We have also seen plenty of Honda Civics do just fine! Q: What type of security system do you have in place? A: We use smart locks that change codes with every guest who stays at our cabin. We also have security cameras on the grounds. HOUSE RULES: To keep our cabin cozy for everyone: - No paints, glitter, or stain-causing materials - No street parking (driveway fits 4–5 cars) - No loud outdoor music past 10 PM Guest access Guests have full, private access to the entire cabin and the surrounding grounds. One of our favorite features is the direct access to the Benton MacKaye Trail, located just a short, scenic walk from your front door. Arrival & Parking: > Our cabin is perched at the top of the ridge for the best views, accessible via a private mountain road. While the road is well-maintained and accessible by all vehicle types, we recommend an SUV or truck for the easiest climb. During winter months, 4WD is strongly encouraged. The gravel driveway comfortably fits up to 5 medium-sized vehicles. Other things to note TVs There is a smart TV in every bedroom and both living rooms. We have many streaming services available such as Disney, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc. We do not pay for these services so you will need to use your own login. Privacy The mountain has houses sprinkled throughout, with plenty of space between for maximum privacy. We have neighbors to our left and right who are rarely home. None of our neighbors homes impede your privacy in the backyard. Views The best views over the Blue Ridge Mountains in the summer are from the main deck; of course, the most dramatic views are in the Fall! CAUTION Please be careful in the backyard. We have a fence for safety but in the event someone goes over that fence, the mountain is steep and full of sharps sticks and trees. ATTENTION To ensure our cabin stays beautiful and comfortable for all guests, we kindly ask that you do not bring items like paints, glitter, or anything that could potentially stain or damage the furniture. Rental agreement must be signed within 48 hours of booking. Pool Heating FAQs: Pool heat is available October–May for $150/day and June–September for $100/day, with a target temperature of 82–85°F, as long as air temperatures remain above 35°F. A few important details to be aware of: **Pool heat must be requested at least 48 hours prior to arrival so it’s ready for your stay. **The pool must be heated for the entire reservation. We’re unable to heat for select days, as the heater must be turned on prior to arrival and it takes approximately 24 hours to bring the pool up to temperature. For this reason, pool heat is charged per night for the full stay, even if you plan to swim only on certain days. **This is a heated pool, not a hot tub (though we do have a hot tub if you’re looking for truly hot water). Winter Weather Note (Please Read Carefully): **During winter, the pool is equipped with freeze protection. When air temperatures drop below 35°F, the heater automatically shuts off and the pool will cool. The longer the heater is off, the more the water temperature will drop—and the longer it will take to reheat once temperatures rise again. The pool will not begin heating again until the air temperature rises above 35°F, and in colder conditions it may take most or all of the day to reach the target temperature. In these conditions, the pool will not maintain the target temperature of 82–85°F. As a result, there may be only a short window of comfortable swimming, even though the full heating fee still applies. **Pool heating during colder months is highly weather dependent, and in some cases, heating the pool during this time may simply not be worthwhile. **In our experience, a heated pool in winter is usually more of a novelty for kids—our own kids will happily jump in even on chilly days. While 85°F sounds warm, that temperature refers to the water and is often not as warm as it sounds, especially once you’re out of the pool. When air temperatures are below 50°F, most adults tend to prefer the hot tub, which provides a much more comfortable and enjoyable experience. Pool is professionally cleaned weekly, Guests will have access to skimmer and robot vacuum for additional cleaning. Guest access You will have exclusive use of the entire cabin and all decks/porches and POOL. You will access the cabin via smart lock on the front door (code is emailed 2 days prior to check-in).
