Internet is, of course, an amenity and subject to service provider outages (and guests "troubleshooting" it), especially with the havoc the sand and salt wreak on cabling and facilities, no more so than any other home on the beach though, and likely better since its close in and new construction!  No smoking please, but feel free to eat lots of shrimp, bask in the warm sun, and have a great time!  Since we have a higher proportion of guests recently who are new to vacation homes, I wanted to mention a few things that may be new to guests who normally stay in hotels or resorts rather than a private home so they are not surprised. As with most beach homes in the area, the local mgt co provide what they call a "starter supply" of soaps, toilet paper, and paper towels, etc. Enough for the first night to get you going! Please plan to bring or purchase additional supplies, and any cleaning or pantry supplies you may need, or to make a quick run to the store (or have it delivered!). You will want to bring beach towels, toys, or beach chairs as well. Because mgt cos will not generally support them, grills are not provided, except where specifically noted, though they are sometimes inherited from prior guests: your mileage may vary on this, and we usually assess and then go snag a small charcoal kettle when we come down ourselves. Also of note: at many locations, you may find the bunk beds (and certain other beds) are not fully made--instead a bedding pack is provided. This is a common practice for the local management companies, which is both green (if the bedding is not used, it doesn't have to be laundered) AND more sanitary--housekeeping does not have to crawl on the bunks and so on to make the beds. Also also... all our homes have drip coffee makers and most now have Keurigs as well.   That’s it! We think you’ll haver a great stay in our home. Welcome to The Barnacle in Gulf Shores. This is a single family home perfectly located close to all the amenities! Conveniently located just two blocks from the beach and walkable distance to shops, markets, restaurants, State Park, The Hangout and all the action! It's a one- of-a-kind property barn on the beach. With its bright and vibrant boutique hotel style interior makes it a perfect background for all those selfies. Looking for something unique and fun? This is it! The space Main Floor: Opens to the livingroom that has a wall mounted TV and an electric fireplace.S Two bedrooms with king size beds, small dining room, guest bath and the galley kitchen fully stocked and equipped with standard appliances. Out the front porch is a porch swing and a picnic table for more seating. Third Floor: Up the spiral staircase is the landing. A small family room with a TV, multiple seating and a sofa with a pullout bed for two. The primary bedroom with a king size bed is attached to the bunk room with four twin size beds and the second bathroom. Out the terrace from the landing has four Adirondack chairs and a firepit. First Floor: Houses the half bath and the washer and dryer. Along with all the beach necessities you might want to use. From beach chairs, beach umbrellas, pool floaties, ice cooler and beach cart. We've got you covered! Guest access guests will have access to entire home minus two storage areas in the basement area. Other things to note This house has stairs including a spiral staircase. Please be careful on and around stair case and monitor children and pets at all times. House was built in 1980 and does have some spaces that are tight and a little unusual. The bunk room is connected to and shares bathroom with primary bedroom on the top floor. The laundry/utility area has lower beams please be careful while in that area. - No Lift (must be able to climb stairs) - Quirks of an Older Home ( light switches are in odd locations, tight spaces in some areas) - Bunk Room is attached to the Primary Bedroom - Low Beams in the First Floor - Not Fenced -we have a camera on the front entry of the property -on occasion we have swarms of insects in Gulf Shores this can include but not limited to Cicadas, Alates, etc we will not offer refunds for insect swarms please be aware of this and keep windows and doors closed and additional lights off during these periods
