We are across the street from Thomson Beach, which has public swimming and picnic areas. A short walk or bike ride brings you to Bay View Park and the Municipal Small Boat Harbor. Beach bungalow get away

Bring the whole family to this great place with lots of fun. This rustic cottage is on Lake Huron between Alpena and Ossineke. Great location to bask in the sun, swim, fish, visit Mackinac Island, see Ocqueoc Falls,, ice fish, ski, snow mobile, camp fires and so much more. Amazing spot to unplug and spend quality time with family. The space There are two bedroom, the first bedroom has a queen size bed, closet and floor fan. The second bedroom has a full size bed and there are three air mattresses. There is a large couch in the living room with a fireplace. The sun room has a large couch. The dining room table sits 6 people and the small bar top sits 2 people. There is a full sized fridge and oven. Also a microwave and coffee pot. There are all the usual kitchen items. The home has beach towels, bath towels, washcloths and bedding is provided. There are kayaks and life jackets available for use. Just return them to the porch when finished and always wear a life jacket. The coffee maker is a Keurig Duo so that you can either make an entire pot of coffee or use K-cups for single serve. Guest access This is a single family home on an acre - you are welcome to use the entire property except the garage. The garage is locked and off limits to guests. Other things to note Please bring water shoes if swimming. A professional pest control company has been spraying but you will also need mosquito spray. The logs on the property can be used for beach fires - help yourself. There is some brush stacked up that can also be burned. Please burn fires in the fire pit on the beach or in the house fireplace responsibly. If there is something you need or a problem - do not hesitate to reach out to us. We were able to complete some renovations but there is more to do. This house was built in the 1950’s, added onto a couple times and then purchased by us from a family member. We only AirBNB it because we hate to see it sit empty when we can't be there. Many guests have made great memories there despite the age of the house and that is what is important to us. The house is very special to us but we understand it’s not perfect. If you are looking for a new build home or a hotel type property, this is not the place for you. We would appreciate any issues being brought to our attention so that we can have an opportunity to correct them before you write your review. There is an outdoor camera that points at the public portion of the beach. While this house is literally 75 feet off the shoreline on private property, Michigan law provides that a portion of the beach is "public" regardless. You may occasionally see people walking the shore line and they are within their rights under the law. They may not come up past the tree line and the camera is to ensure that there are not trespassers from the beach side. If you bring an RV to the property there is an additional one time $250 fee. While we have a strict no pets policy (due to a severe allergy in the family) if you bring your service dog there will be a one time extra cleaning fee of $250. Your service animal must be controlled, behaved and on a leash at all times or under the ADA rules you may be asked to leave the property. Emotional Support Animals and pets are not allowed on the property because of the significant difficulty it places on the family member who is allergic.

Enjoy your stay in a home that showcases part of what makes Alpena so special! This home was built in 1924 out of Bes-Stone split block from Besser Manufacturing Company, produced at the world headquarters, located here in Alpena. It is just as beautiful today as it was when it was built 100 years ago. This home has surprisingly large rooms, as well as all the modern comforts, including central air! Currently in the process of having this home added to the National Register of Historic Places.

My place is conveniently located within walking distance of downtown Alpena. There are a variety of restaurants and bars all within 1/4 mile. Lake Huron is my front yard, with tennis and basketball courts available for public use. The Alpena bandshell is a hop and skip from my house; every Saturday there’s a concert in the summer. There are two public beaches within a mile. And you can see masts from sailboats out my front window as the boat harbor is my neighbor. The space Location is everything—and this home has it all. Stroll just a few minutes to downtown Alpena, where you’ll find a great selection of restaurants, breweries, coffee shops, and local boutiques, all within a quarter mile. Step outside and enjoy beautiful views of Lake Huron, right across the street. Public tennis and basketball courts are just steps away, making it easy to stay active during your stay. Throughout the summer, the nearby Alpena Bandshell hosts free Saturday evening concerts, creating the perfect backdrop for a relaxing weekend. Two public beaches are within a mile, and the city marina is practically next door—you can even watch sailboats glide in and out of the harbor from the front windows. For added peace of mind, I’ve recently installed privacy windows on the lower level. During the day, they allow natural light in while preventing anyone outside from seeing into the home, giving you extra comfort and privacy throughout your stay. Welcome to the Historic Collins Residence! This incredible architectural home is steeped in history and offers modern conveniences like smart TV's & electronic self check-in. This 5 BR 2.5 BA home is beautiful, unique & spacious w/ a wrought iron fenced backyard & prime location- it's the perfect spot while staying in Alpena for weddings, events or w/ a large group. ~1 block to park w/ tennis, basketball, playground, & boat harbor! ~3 blocks to downtown for drinks, dinner, coffee, shops & more! The space This is a very architecturally unique and beautiful home. Much of it is original including the old growth hardwood floors, oversized baseboards, steam radiators, windows, etc still remain and function as they did 100+ years ago. The 4 upstairs bedrooms are quite large and all have king sized beds while the bedroom on the main floor has the original bed and vanity. The layout is unique by modern standards having two stairwells so hired help could move about the home without disturbing the owners. We’ve done our best to tastefully update and modernize the property while keeping as much original as possible. This home is steeped with history being built originally by prominent local businessman Richard Collins in the ~1890’s. Additionally, his son, Phelps Collins was a WW1 ace and was tragically killed on a mission to intercept German bombers en route to Paris. He is recognized as the first US pilot to die flying a combat mission with an American unit and is hailed as an early aviation hero. In 1931, when a new public airport was opened in Alpena County, the field was named Phelps Collins Field in his honor. This house, along with other historic homes in Alpena, are included on a walking tour which is very informative.
