In the summer it’s not uncommon to see dolphins and during the winter months the swans love to hang out here in the bay. From the cottage there is just a short drive to lively downtown Kilmarnock. Kilmarnock is full of many great shops and restaurants. The surrounding towns of Irvington and Whitestone also have a lot to offer. My place is close to The Tides Inn (5 minutes) and Irvington on Carter's Creek. Relax and watch the herons in our cove. Kayak around the creek, or dock your boat from the Rappahannock River. Play some golf or visit the vineyards. Try the oysters at Merroir, the Rappahannock Oyster Company's romantic tasting restaurant or the Northern Neck Burger's new funky shakes as well as lots of other things in between. When you get back, relax on the deck for happy hour or go crabbing from the dock. The space Beautiful cottage on a creek, built into the side of a hill. Main level includes living and dining areas, full kitchen and master bed/bath with a secluded deck overlooking the creek. Lower level includes an additional bedroom and full bath; a family room with a futon and full bath with a side deck; a sitting room overlooking the lower deck that leads down to the dock. Bring your kayak and explore the creek, or fish or crab from the dock. Guest access Entire house and grounds as well as private dock. Living Room: There is a sofa, a loveseat, and a chair for comfortable seating. The fireplace is gas and provides ambiance in the cooler months. The TV is great for streaming. Dining Room: The separate dining room has a table, four chairs, and windows facing the patio. It's also a nice spot for firing up your laptop to check email or do some work. Kitchenette: Our kitchenette is fully stocked with dishes, flatware, glasses, pots, and pans. We have a full-sized fridge, microwave, and stove. It is galley style. We also have a toaster oven and coffeemakers (Keurig, Drip, and French Press.) The kitchenette does not have a dishwasher. Patio: Our brick patio is at the back of the house. We have a table, chairs, and a Weber Grill. We also offer Adirondack chairs and a table and chairs at the front of the property. The house is situated on a 1/2 acre. This charming home built in 1903 was once a working farmhouse, but now welcomes family and friends to come relax and play. Enjoy crabbing or fishing from the dock, paddling the creek out to the bay, lazing in the adirondack chairs on the wrap around deck, or napping on the screened-in porch. The space THE COTTAGE : This delightful cottage has plenty of room to spread out. As soon as you enter your eyes go to the light-filled sun room overlooking the headwaters of Carter's Creek. The living room’s comfortable and eclectic style makes you feel right at home. The fully stocked open kitchen has a great layout (everything within reach), while the living room with built-in tv and gas fireplace will welcome you home after a busy day out-and-about. The primary sleeping quarters and bathroom with double sink and soaking tub are up one level. You will love the bedroom doors that open to let in the breeze and the sounds of nature. The lower level has a queen room and a room with two twins, each with it's own ensuite bath; twin bathroom also accessible from the hallway. The queen room opens to the patio facing the trees and creek, with outdoor shower, hot tub, comfortable seating, and the welcome sounds of nature. The home is sited at the headwaters of Carter's Creek. In summer the view of the Creek is obscured by the trees, but you can hear it rushing at high tide and the frogs are always singing! The slope to the creek is steep and there is not a defined trail so we do ask folks not to venture down there. We do have a lovely kayak dock to which you can walk on a nature trail in the community to get a view, and there are of course many ways to visit the water in the area, including walking the beach at nearby Hughlett Point Nature Preserve, dining waterfront at the Tides Inn in Irvington, and renting kayaks through local kiosks run by PaddleOn. Just a quick note to let you know that, for the comfort of all our guests, dogs are not allowed on the lower level. Thanks for understanding! Sailing cruises, power boat charters, in-home massage, sound baths, and aerial and mat yoga classes. HOT TUB: We do our best to keep the hot tub in great working condition, but sometimes mechanical issues beyond our control can cause it to malfunction — this could happen right before or even during a stay. If a replacement part is needed, please note that we might not always be able to get one immediately. The hot tub is private and has very specific rules regarding its use, as it is expensive to maintain and repair. Failure to follow the posted rules or any instructions shared here may result in a monetary claim to cover damages, downtime, or related expenses. We truly appreciate your understanding — and hope you have a relaxing time enjoying the hot tub! POOL: The pool is a community pool. That said, it's a super small community. You may be the only folks using it some days. It also has a nice wisteria arbor with tables and chairs, and some bbq areas. Full rules will be at home with instructions. Please take all trash as there are no cans. Dates of opening and closing vary according to calendar and circumstances but tend to be Memorial Day to Labor Day, sometimes beyond. WHAT ARE THE TENTS?: Modeled after the Wharton Grove Campground, a Baptist tent camp revival site and steamboat stop established in the late 1800's in nearby Weems. Over time, those canvas tents evolved into proper frame cottages in a distinctive carpenter Gothic style of arched windows and Victorian gingerbread. As Steve Hendrix of the Washington Post described the tent community, "it's a splendid...setting for a rural retreat among the vines." HISTORY: George Washington was born and lived his first three years at a large farm along Pope’s Creek. The lovely site, along with a large Visitor Center, recreations of the homestead, natural trails and farmland, and beautiful views of the tidewater lands similar to what George would have experienced, are preserved for the public. It’s a wonderful place to learn about Washington’s upbringing and future as a Virginia gentleman farmer. Visit Reedville, where Maine sea captain Elijah Reed purchased the land in 1874 and began the menhaden fishing industry. Its location on a peninsula, jutting into Cockrell’s Creek, with a deep harbor and quick access to the Chesapeake Bay, made Reedville an ideal fishing port. The menhaden industry was so lucrative the town, with only 500 inhabitants, was once known as the wealthiest town in the United States. ENTERTAINMENT CENTER: To keep the kids happy, the Cottage is close to the new "Compass" Center, with 6 screen movie theater, go-carts, mini-golf, and rock climbing. Drive 10 min. to the larger town of Kilmarnock for shopping and more dining options. STATE PARKS:There are also 3 lovely Virginia State Parks along the shoreline of the Northern Neck—Caledon and Westmoreland border the Potomac River, and Belle Isle hugs the Rappahannock River to the south. All of that shoreline offers beautiful views, boating, and birding. ON THE WATER: Virginia’s Northern Neck is a peninsula surrounded by unique and beautiful marshes, creeks, the Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers, and the Chesapeake Bay, so water views are all around you. When the weather is fair, you’ll find lots of opportunities to get out on the water. Bring a boat and explore the Lancaster and Westmoreland Water Trails. Rent a canoe or kayak at one of the state parks to explore smaller marshes and creeks. Arrange a fishing charter or a scenic river cruise on the Rappahannock, or cruise across the bay to remote Tangier Island for fresh blue crabs and a look at the watermen’s life. This lighthouse style home is situated on 3 private acres and has 3 water views: the Creek, the Chesapeake Bay and the Rappahannock River all which can be viewed from the wrap @ deck and top observation lookout. Enjoy the large yard with fire pit. Launch a kayak/SUP from our dock or bring your fishing rods to catch Croaker. Have fun catching blue crabs with our crab traps. Follow @beaconbaygetaway The space THE HOUSE: Enter through french doors to the unfinished basement/storage space. The main floor is up one flight of stairs, which can also be accessed outside the house. The fully stocked, renovated kitchen is ready to cook a large meal and has a sliding glass door that leads to the wrap around deck where you will find a couple of adirondack chairs to enjoy the stunning views. The dining area is adjacent to the kitchen with a table that can be extended to seat up to 8 guests and wraps around to the main living space with a pullout full sleeper sofa, and two comfortable chairs with ottomans. Off the living space is a large bathroom with shower/tub combo, toilet and vanity sink. A 50 inch Smart TV (only TV in house) with Amazon prime video, Netflix, Disney+ and Max (other apps too) are preinstalled. Stream with your accounts as desired - just remember to log out prior to departure. *Starlink high speed internet* The second floor is accessed from the kitchen up a flight of stairs( spiral staircase). The primary guest room features a king-sized bed, reading nook, large dresser, large closet, and a private master balcony with bistro table and 2 chairs. SPECTACULAR views of Little Oyster Creek can be enjoyed from here. The secondary bedroom offers a queen bed, chair, large closet and dresser. In between the bedrooms is a full bathroom with a shower/tub combo, vanity and toilet. One level up from the bedrooms, leads to the top wrap around observation deck! This is where you can enjoy all 3 water views! Enjoy stargazing at night using the provided telescope or enjoy your coffee while watching the boats and jet skis come in and out of the creek! UNFINISHED BASEMENT (not part of living space): New (2023) commercial sized washer and dryer are located here along with a kayak, a stand up paddle board, and several life vests for you to use while at the house. During the summer months we have 2 kayaks mounted outside and 1 kayak and the SUP inside. All water toys are brought inside during the winter months but can still be used. There are 2 new sliding glass doors where you can easily take them in/out from. OUTSIDE: The newly built steps from the deck lead down to a rather large yard that includes a newly designed fire pit with chairs, as well as, a newly upgraded hammock. Plenty of space to play some corn hole, croquet, toss a frisbee or just let the kids burn off some energy. The charcoal grill is located at the bottom of the steps for you to cook your fresh catch of the day on! There's an awesome outdoor private shower perfect for showering or just getting the sand off your toes after a day on the water. Water to the outdoor shower will be turned off in the winter months (October-April). GOOD TO KNOW: **During high tide, a coastal event, and/or after a significant rain, water can come up in the yard in the area around the marsh. **It’s common to have jellyfish (stinging nettles) in the water, especially during the summer months. ** PETS: We love dogs and are happy to accommodate them! PET FEE: $100.00 per stay per pet (2 dogs max). **Please be respectful of neighboring properties and keep pets on our property only. Please use provided bags to clean up after your pet and dispose properly in the outside receptacle. ** STAIRCASE: Spiral wooden staircase (like a lighthouse) from the bottom level that goes all the way up to the top observation deck. Handrails are provided on all levels and are encouraged for safety. SAFETY: Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are located in each bedroom. Smoke detectors can be found in the living room and upstairs hallway. Fire extinguishers can be found on each of the 3 levels of the home. Fire escape ladders are located in the closet of each bedroom. SECURITY CAMERA: Driveway facing security cameras are on the property to ensure security of the house when not in use and to monitor all vehicles/people entering/exiting the property and to verify guest count when needed. Located on the Chesapeake Bay in White Stone, just a 1-hour drive from Richmond, 2 hours from Norfolk, and 3 hours from Washington DC. Enjoy water views and perfect sunsets from your deck. Sunbathe, swim, fish, hike or just relax! Feast on local oysters, crabs and wine at casual or fine restaurants. Spend the day shopping for antiques, apparel or souvenirs. Two queen bedroom suites, full kitchen. Sleeps 4 This has been a popular short-term rental for years. We are listing it as the new owners. The space The house was built in 1880 as a schoolhouse, and later became a residence when the public school system began. It has since been expanded to include two levels. The first floor features a living room and guest suite with a private bath. The second floor has a full kitchen and dining table for eight, sitting area and master suite with a private bath. Both bathrooms have showers (no bathtubs). Other things to note There is a Charcoal Grill, but we do not supply the charcoal. THE AREA The triangle of White Stone, Irvington and Kilmarnock encompass the area. Plenty of shopping, eating, golfing and fishing for all! BOATING/KAYAKING The Chesapeake Bay, Rappahannock River, Little Bay and Carter's Creek are all in the area. You can sail or fish to your heart's content. 1. Windmill Point Marina is just a mile down the road. There is a public boat launch, pool, sand beach and dining. You can enjoy the Rappahannock River and the Chesapeake Bay from there. There are some jetties on the river. There is also a kayak launch just before the marina. You can also get to the Tide's Inn from here, but there is a closer launch in Irvington. 2. If you prefer a smaller body of water, there is a launch just down the road in the other direction at Bay Seafood. From there you will be on Little Bay where you'll find a very popular jetty for sunbathing and fun. It's also a great place to launch a kayak. 3. If you'd like to visit Carter's Creek by the Tide's Inn, there is a launch in Irvington on Steamboat Road. Again, a great place to kayak! If you're not bringing a boat but would like to go fishing, there are plenty of charters available. I would suggest checking the internet before your trip. HIKING/BIKING There are several state parks and trails throughout Lancaster and Northumberland Counties. Belle Isle offers just about everything, including classes and entertainment. Huglett Point Nature Preserve has gorgeous beaches and walking trails. I would recommend checking the internet for more information.

The kitchen has three bar stools at the counter and the dining area seats 8 people. There is also a dedicated playroom, which is visible from all main living areas of the house, which makes it easy to keep an eye on the kids while you unwind. Step outside to over an acre of private yard space (1.2 acres), complete with your own fire pit- perfect for evenings under the stars. The climate controlled garage includes a brand new washer and dryer for your convenience as well as an extra fridge/freezer. Located just minutes from Irvington, Urbana, and Deltaville, this home is a great base for exploring the area or simply relaxing in a peaceful setting. Windmill point marina is about 3 miles away with publuc boat launch, daily, weekly, and monthly slip rental, a public beach and fishing pier. Off the dock you can Fish(2 pole and small tackel box included), go crabbing(2 pots provided, just get bait) and you can collect oysters for eating. There is a private dock and boat ramp perfect for personal watercraft and a deep water slip to accommodate up to a 50’ yacht. New in 2026, Level 2 Universal EV Charger with Tesla charging adaptor. New in 2024, Front porch upgrade. New screens and door. The space This lovely air conditioned home has spectacular sunset views and is surrounded by water on three sides. The rural setting is definitely in the country with the nearest neighbor being a corn field away. This is a perfect getaway from the city hustle and bustle. By car it is about 2 hours from Norfolk or Richmond, and 3 hours from the Northern Virginia, DC area and Charlottesville, or if you want to arrive by boat it is half way between Annapolis and Norfolk, one days sail away from each. Boats with up to a 6 foot draft can access the property via Prentice Creek, a branch of Dividing Creek which opens directly into the Chesapeake Bay less than 1 mile from the pier. This creek is known in the sailing community as a favorite “Gunkhole”, a sheltered anchorage half way between the Potomac and the Rappahannock rivers. In addition to the dock there is a concrete boat ramp for launching small watercraft less than 18 feet. The ramp is very steep and cannot accommodate larger boats. If you have a larger boat that needs to be launched please inquire regarding your options. There are beautiful natural beaches at the mouth of Dividing Creek just a short boat ride away. Osprey, Blue Heron, Bald Eagle and Swan (in the winter months) as well as a wide variety of song birds are common, a birders paradise. Conveniently located just minutes from Irvington, Kilmarnock & White Stone. Unwind by the waterside fire pit or on the bistro-lit patio as the sun sets. The space Welcome to Oyster Cove Getaway, a private waterfront retreat tucked away in Weems, Virginia. Arrive down a tree-lined drive to a spacious, family-friendly 3-bedroom home designed for comfort and connection. The open-concept kitchen, dining, and living room make it easy to gather, cook, and relax together. The primary master suite features a king bed, bunk set (twin over full), crib, and private bath with double sinks and shower. Bedroom 1 offers a queen bed, while Bedroom 2 includes a full bed—both near a hall bath with tub. Entertainment is easy with 3 smart TVs with Fire Stick (living room, primary suite, and queen bedroom), plus air hockey, a Pac-Man arcade machine, and foosball. The kitchen is fully stocked with cookware, utensils, crab pot, and even plates for young children. A high chair is also provided for families. Step out of the living room and follow the oyster shell path—paying homage to the area’s rich oyster heritage—down to your private pier. Spend the day crabbing, fishing, or kayaking (crab pot, kayaks & canoe provided). Evenings are best on the bistro-lit patio, gathered around the waterfront fire pit, or rocking on the front porch. Guest access Keyless entry pad on the front side door leading to the dining room~ Other things to note Our home is located in a rural area that is among nature with wildlife to enjoy! As with many countryside locations, nearby landowners may occasionally engage in lawful hunting or target practice. While this is not a frequent occurrence, guests may hear a gunshot from time to time. Please note that because the home is waterfront, sound can carry farther than it might in other settings. We share this simply to ensure guests are not surprised and can fully enjoy their stay. In addition, across the entire Northern Neck, including the Chesapeake Bay, Rappahannock River, Corrotoman River and Taylor's Creek, warmer and saltier water conditions can bring jellyfish (also called sea nettles). Their sting can be unpleasant, so take the same precautions you would in any natural body of water and swim carefully. On the bright side, these conditions often mean better luck when crabbing! 🦀

Private Waterfront: Dock, Kayaks, Gameroom&Firepit

Come down the long private drive along the pasture to the little cottage perched on the banks of the river, surrounded by large oak trees. Its a simple, cozy spot with lots of outdoor spaces for spreading out. The space If you're tired of a crowded summer beach vacation, this quiet retreat is a perfect alternative! This private family home has one of the best views on the Northern Neck, and is also super close to the conveniences of the nearby Town of White Stone. There are three bedroom each with a smart TV and blackout shades (two bathrooms, one being a Jack & Jill) off of a cozy living space with big water views. We tend to spend a lot of time on the screen porch which is flanked by two decks - one has a dining set and the other has a sitting area and a large outdoor shower. The property has multiple spots for getting away - lounge chairs, hammocks, shady spots to read, the beach, the dock. While the house is intimate inside, there is no end to personal spaces for a nap or a book. It is really fun to hang out on the dock - watch the sunsets, look for dolphins or bald eagles, or just go fishing. The kitchen is well stocked, each bedroom has its own large Smart TV, and there is very fast wifi available. Guest access This house is totally private with water all around - the private beach and private dock are all yours to enjoy - and you are welcome to use any of the 4 kayaks or 2 paddle boards during your stay. Other things to note I enjoy the dining scene in the area - its not huge, but enough decent options to make your stay more enjoyable. Miss Mary's Seafood in White Stone is ideal for great seafood to cook at home or eat sitting on the dock. Merroir is a restaurant across the river that has a beautiful outdoor setting, great for oysters and a bottle of wine. Fish Hawk is fun - its a casual restaurant at the Tides Inn down by the pool and Carter's Creek ... eat outside, watch the boats. The Tides Inn also has a great restaurant with a beautiful view from the terrace. Vine is a very cute wine bar with good small plates and a lovely patio, it’s in Irvington. Adrift in White Stone is an excellent choice for dinner or a drink at the bar with some appetizers. One of my go-to spots. The Local in Irvington is good for bagel sandwiches and morning coffee. The River Market in White Stone is ideal for a take out lunch order - their sandwiches are really tasty. The Old Farm Truck Market in White Stone is good for fresh veggies, cheeses, bread, etc. There is a Walmart in Kilmarnock which would have about everything you need (10 min drive) but there is an old timey grocery store in Kilmarnock that I prefer, called TriStar Supermarket. Hughlett Point is a park fronting the Chesapeake Bay north of Kilmarnock - its a beautiful place to go hiking, the beaches are stunning. In July and August it’s very common to have jellyfish (stinging nettles) in the river. You want to keep an eye open for them when swimming and playing in the water during by these months. I generally do not book guests with pets. This does not mean that pets are never on the property. Please take that into consideration if you have allergies. Trash is generally picked up on Wednesdays. The yard and pasture are cut as-needed, so you may see a gentleman on a lawnmower during your stay.

Use your personal accounts for easy access to Netflix, Disney+, ESPN, and more and watch all your favorite content. There is a Ring Doorbell camera, two security cameras on the parking area, and one security camera in the detached boat garage.
