Antique, rustic cabin on Neck River just minutes from downtown Madison. Come kayak, birdwatch, and relax. First floor has a full, eat-in kitchen and tranquil living room with TV, pingpong, and games. Walk (1.5 miles) or kayak (during high tide) to Grass Island for a tranquil beach experience, or drive (2 miles) to downtown, with beaches, bookstores, a quaint town cinema and a wide array of restaurants. Relax (or fish) on the stone porch as egrets, osprey, and kingfishers fly above you. The space PLEASE BE SURE TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE BEDROOM LAYOUT ON THE SECOND FLOOR PROVIDED IN THE PICTURES. There are 2 bedrooms on the second floor, but the main bedroom must be walked-through to access the bathroom and stairs from the second bedroom. This works great for families, but may not be ideal for groups who need 2 completely private bedrooms. PLEASE NOTE that the cabin is indeed an antique, built in 1870. As such, there are all the curiosities and eccentricities of an antique house built into the experience: floors that have gentle slants/slopes, relatively narrow doorways, original wood construction. If this sounds like fun to you it does to us too! But if this is not your ideal situation, ye be warned. Note that the owners live at the top of the lot toward the street in the main house. There is nearly an acre of land between the homes, and the owners are available to help if any needs arise. Heating is central forced air heating. Guests are not permitted to use the wood burning stove. Window air conditioners are provided during the hotter months for both the top and bottom floors. These are removed as the weather gets cooler. If you are interested in using the kayaks or paddle boards, we have life preservers and paddles for you! However, use of watercraft or swimming in the river is AT YOUR OWN RISK. In order to use the kayaks/paddle boards/ or enter the river, guests are required to fill out an online waiver form that will be text to you after booking.

The space The building (originally a pub for local quarry workers) was built in the late 1800s, with the upper residence added in the 1930s. We've renovated the space with modern comforts while retaining much of the original charm. The interior design aesthetic is a blend of new and funky vintage finds, carefully chosen to be age and gender neutral. With an open floor plan, this suite offers many more amenities than a comparably priced B&B or hotel room in Branford. Stony Creek Depot is a perfect destination for family vacations, bridal parties, corporate and academic professionals who seek fully furnished, inclusive utilities and WiFi. Cable TV includes DVD movies galore as well as premium channels like HBO, Showtime, Encore, and NetFlix access - served by Frontier. Or, turn off the electronics and just sit quietly to read a novel or play a board game. Guest access Shared driveway (first-come, first-served) leads to private, separate entry up one flight of exterior steps onto enormous deck, Tree Fort Suite gives guests exclusive use of the entire 1,000 square-foot living space. ACCESSIBILITY: Guests must be able to climb an exterior staircase to access the Tree Fort Suite via our driveway and not by crossing or walking through neighboring properties. Other things to note The corner property is adjacent to railroad tracks (200' from the house), so you may sense the periodic passage of Amtrak and commuter trains. No telephone landline service. Cell signals can drop in "the Creek" - so we've installed a signal booster, which works well for phones using the 4G network since it uses our guest WiFi network to supplement the signal strength. Thimble Islands Road is busy in the summer, as it is the main artery through the village: there are lots of sidewalk strollers and dog walkers headed to enjoy the neighborhood's nature trail and Sound views. There is a skylight over the bed in the master bedroom - which is so wonderful to stargaze, but if you want to sleep in, then you might want to use one of our complimentary sleep masks in the bedside drawer. SECURITY: To promote safe conditions and support our property ownership rights and responsibilities, exterior entryway areas of the property are monitored by motion-activated lighting and cameras. Rest assured, we respect guest privacy during any stay on premises and will readily share information about the camera capabilities with booked guests. We have installed a noise monitor in the unit (as recommended by Airbnb). It does not record audio, but does monitor ambient decibel level and the number of Bluetooth devices in order to detect crowd level. We receive an alert via text if activity exceeds normal levels.

Watch the sun set over the water and relax in the hottub for some night time star gazing year round (pool open June-beg/mid Oct) The space Black out blinds in the bedroom, goose feather duvets and the highest quality linens are provided to ensure ultimate comfort levels. Not to mention an incredible sea view from every room in the house. Please note there is no TV but WiFi if you wish to stream off your devices. The space is best suited to a couple or a couple with small children. 4 adults are welcome but the space is small. See photos for sofa bed set up to get a better idea. The hot tub is positioned between the main house ( where we, your hosts, live) and the guest house where you'll stay. Guests can enjoy sole use of the hot tub year round. We like to give our guests priority use of the pool but on occasion we, in the house next door, may also use it.
