The space This historic house, built in the 1870s, has retained unexpected character and been updated for modern needs. We love this house because the quiet neighborhood, welcoming local businesses, short distance to beach, and farm-like setting are all magical. This house is a rare chance to escape your day-to-day for an unexpected Bay Area adventure. The first level has one bedroom with en suite bathroom, and a hallway shared bathroom. Both have showers, one has a tub. Up the charming old staircase are 4 bedrooms and a third bathroom with an antique clawfoot tub and pedestal sink. Enter via the redwood patio into a spacious dining room, work space, welcoming and fully-stocked kitchen. Back pantry has extra supplies, a washer / dryer, and room to safely store bicycles. Well water is fully filtered and pipes are all upgraded. Relax in the cozy study and lovely living room. There are smart TVs with a guest Netflix account, games, rocking chairs, and a writing desk with stationery. If you come to escape the world but have a flexcation need to log in for work, we have mesh wifi and multiple work spaces. Dedicated work spaces abound, but we tend to work on the porch. The wifi is great and something about typing in the fresh air makes us happier than being inside. We have 6 beds for 9 people, which is our max. Located a private, unpaved road; three cars max, please. Neighbors do call the sheriff for help when they can't use our road. Guests spend a lot of time outside the front porch, enjoying the calming views cows grazing on rolling hills and farmland. Guests can explore the fully fenced front and backyard, which have various garden seating options and a hammock. (Allergy note: a sycamore and two redwoods on the property.) Our home is at the edge of the small and inviting town of Tomales, which has tasty restaurants, delightful boutique hotels, a local-history museum, two churches, a park with playground, and two stores with everything you'll need for the 8-minute trip to Dillon Beach, a bike ride to wine country, or a local hike. Will be replaced soon. -->We love children but there are several safety hazards for little ones (like steep stairs and windows that go to the floor) because the house was built before modern safety codes. Getting to Tomales is a gorgeous drive or bike ride from all directions, so you'll begin feeling like you're on vacation before you even arrive! Note: Our small unpaved road will fit up to 3 cars. There is space behind the gate for motorcycles, and lots of safe, locked space for bicycles. Once you're here, walk the few blocks of our wonderful town. Though this house feels far from the rest of the world, the modern and staffed fire station is just a few blocks away. Drive or bike to Dillon Beach (dog friendly), Tomales Bay, Marshall, Point Reyes, Occidental, Bodega Bay, Jenner, Guerneville, Petaluma, Sebastopol, Sonoma, Napa, Yountville, Santa Rosa, and more. Other things to note --> Having cows and sheep as neighbors means animal noises. Sometimes at night. If you don't like various other barnyard sounds, just choose a back bedroom. -->Marin county has a good-neighbor policy for all guests that we agree with and enforce: limit noise that could affect the neighbors, no parties, honor quiet hours at night (10p-7a), park so that you don't block any driveways, and put trash in the bins at the house only if the lid will close (otherwise we get raccoon infestations). Do not use neighbor garbage cans.

The space This amazing Farmhouse is in the midst of a working goat & sheep dairy and farmstead creamery. If you love animals and artisan cheese then this is the place for you!! This is a working-farm so there will be people milling about the property. You can help out with the goats, garden, or simply take a hike around the 160 organic acres. Guest access You can use our double and single kayaks. 5 miles down the road there is a public dock so you can drop them in amazing Tomales Bay. We have 3 life vests. We have an outdoor gas grill. Eggs and Cheese from farm will be in fridge upon arrival. You can help yourself to veggies and herbs in the garden for cooking (season dependent) as well as spices, olive oil, tea and coffee in pantry. Wine in pantry belong to owners. Other things to note This is an organic working farm and we ask that guests respect the land, buildings and animals. There is no cable TV but we have a projector/movie-screen and surround sound speakers. We also have lots of board games! Please note that the farm is very rural and thus the wifi and Apple TV occasionally disconnects (but not often). Dillon Beach is just a few minutes from the house and the wine country starts just 20 minutes away. The kitchen is well equipped and includes a coffee station with a machine that can make pots by drip or K-Cups which are provided.   The 19th century town of Tomales still looks much as it did at the turn of the 20th century. There is a small market, amazing bakery and deli. saloon, the William Tell house restaurant, History Museum, homemade sausage sandwich shop and more. House is non-smoking indoors.  This is an amazing property for family and friends to gather but it is NOT a party house! Amplified music is not allowed outdoors at vacation rentals in the County and there are cameras that monitor parking areas. Quiet time for this County is between 9:00 PM and 8:00 AM. WiFi internet is available with newly installed wifi extension device that now provides reliable internet reception; a Bose system for radio with a selection of CDs. Water is from our private well that is regularly tested. There are no toxic chemicals & no industrial runoff into our deep underground water table. As of 9/22/25, we have upgraded our well to include an ultra-violet disinfectant device & a filter for minerals. This is a rural, unincorporated, historic village with no centralized water system. Please conserve water.. We do have a village sewer plant so water & waste are pumped there for treatment & then irrigated on surrounding pastures a few miles away. A Short-term Rental Ordinance is now in effect in West Marin and it can be read in the cottage guidebook. The village of Tomales is in the coastal zone & we realize many visitors want to spend time exploring this beautiful and rural coastal setting. We welcome you here in Tomales during your stay! Other things to note Special Rates include: $230 per night for weekends (Friday and Saturday) and holidays. $200 per night Weekdays (Sunday and Monday) $1045 one week special (seven days) *All prices are subject to West Marin County 14% lodging tax and added to each booking. This rustic, cozy cabin (we call it "The Cabin" aka the "Love Shack") at Stemple Creek Ranch in West Marin is delightful. It is just a few miles from the ocean, has a private deck with a gas BBQ, kitchenette, loft for sleeping, and views of the countryside that stretch for miles. We have three other lodgings on the ranch if you have a larger group. The space Stemple Creek Ranch is a family owned and operated organic cattle ranch in Tomales, CA, just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean. We raise grass-fed and grass-finished beef and lamb and pastured pork. This cabin is a refurbished old bunkhouse with a full bathroom with: - Open main room with - Full bathroom with an antiquie claw foot tub/shower combo - Kitchenette with a small sink, 2 burner gas stove, small refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker - Sleeping loft with a queen-sized bed and twin bed - Downstairs is a pull-out couch with a queen sized bed - very good quality pull out couch, very comfortable) - Private deck with a gas BBQ and outdoor seating and views of the countryside The cabin is just a few miles away from the town of Tomales, less than a mile away from Highway 1 (Shoreline Highway), and a great home base for exploring Marin or Sonoma Counties. Guest access The cabin itself, a place to park, and a deck with seating. Other things to note There is Verizon and AT&T cell service and satellite-based wifi. If you want to order our grass fed, grass finished beef and lamb or pastured pork from us (Stemple Creek Ranch) please let us know at least a few days in advance, and we can have it there for you when you arrive. Rustic Cabin at Stemple Creek Ranch w Private Deck

Sweet dreams in our quiet, comfortable spare bedroom. This room has it's own private entrance. Our five acre property is two blocks from downtown Tomales and a few miles from Dillon Beach. We are dog owners, they are well behaved and we keep them separate from guests if needed. We are happy to host a well behaved dog if you let us know ahead of time. Our home is surrounded by open space, we have a quiet but not not silent environment. Wildlife will visit in the night and make noise The space We have 5 fenced acres and we are happy to host a well behaved dog since we have well behaved dogs. Roam around and enjoy the view. If you bring your dog, he/she can run off leash! We do keep our dogs separate from guests if that is what our guests want. Guest access Our room has an electric kettle for hot beverages or instant oatmeal that we provide. This room does don't include kitchen access. There are many options for food in Tomales: Take out, restaurants, and a small grocery store. Other things to note We do have dogs, they are well behaved, friendly and beautiful. We do keep them away from guests unless you wish to meet them. They are a wonderful 4 generation family of Labradors.

No animals - no exceptions, no matter how well behaved you may think they are, so please don't ask. On rainy days, enjoy the cozy comfort of reading next to the fireplace, or venture out to watch to storm at Bodega Head. Plan to bring snacks or other things you'd enjoy eating; we provide breakfast (of course!) and there are restaurants fairly close by, but no stores or places to just run out and get a quick treat!
