This 5 bd/4.5 bath home sleeps 14 and features stunning ocean views, 2-master suites w/private baths & decks, private saltwater pool/hot tub, open kitchen-dining-living layout & game room for quality family time. We provide beach gear, fresh linens, gas grill, & Wi-Fi/Smart TVs. The space Newly built in 2022, our well-equipped beach home features 3 levels with 5 bedrooms, 4 ½ bathrooms, multiple decks for both sunrises/sets, easy beach access (2-3 min walk in either direction), saltwater pool, hot tub, game room, and panoramic ocean views from the kitchen and main living areas. The house sleeps up to 14 guests, with two king master suites each with private bath, walk-in shower and private deck. Up to 2 dogs are permitted with a pet fee. Amenities and key points include: A large saltwater pool, hot tub, outdoor shower, gas grille, sea kayak, beach chairs and assorted gear, game room with pool table and shuffleboard, and assorted games and puzzles. Carova is an off-pavement experience and home to wild “Banker” horses of Corolla, who roam freely and visit the house regularly. Floor by floor: The top/3rd level offers a primary king master suite and main living areas, including an open fully stocked kitchen and great room with vaulted ceilings, living and dining areas, and half-bath on the landing area as you head downstairs. Enjoy decks on the east and west sides for both ocean and sunset views. The second/middle level provides the main entryway from the front porch and offers 3 bedrooms, including a 2nd king master suite with private bathroom, a queen bedroom, and a bunk room with 5 beds. The queen and bunk rooms share a full bathroom off the hallway. The laundry is also located on this floor. The lower/1st level includes a game room with a 6’ pool table, shuffleboard, and queen sofa bed, as well as a 5th bedroom with 2 queen beds and a full bath accessible directly from both the bedroom and game room. This level also provides exits to the pool, hot tub and outside areas. We are located in the Northern OBX of NC. Norfolk, VA is the closest airport, approximately 108 miles by car. Map view shows 2 miles to VA border, but the property is only accessible via Rt 12N. Airbnb has updated their pricing model which means guests no longer pay extra service fees. The new 15.5% booking fee is now charged to the host, so the price you see is the price you pay. Guest access Entire home and outdoor amenities & spaces. Parking is available in the front driveway area of the property. Other things to note Driving on the sand is required and is part of the 4x4 beach experience. 4x4 vehicles are a must for driving to Carova. If you’ve not been to the 4x4 beach before it’s important to air down tires… we typically do 18-20psi and Historic Corolla Park is generally the best spot. Also, we use the app called “Tides Near Me” (location Sandbridge) to check beach tides and plan the beach drive near lower tide. We do recommend getting through Duck as early as you can, traffic gets heavier as the day goes on. The pavement ends at the end of Route 12N in Corolla. Once you hit the sand at the beach entrance keep moving and especially if sand is thick. GPS may try to reroute you behind the houses, but continue to drive on the beach. Look for the cell tower as a good visual day/night reference near the Carova Fire House at mm21.5. Turn to go over the dune at mm22 then turn on Sandfiddler to arrive at the house. Off-sand parking and transport to the beach house is available through local vendors for guests without a 4x4. Beach Parking Permits: Two county issued beach parking permits are available to use during your stay, if you’re planning to park on the beach. Please remember to leave them at the house before you checkout. The permits are shared with all guests throughout the season. Pet Friendly: Up to 2 dogs are welcome! Pet fee is $250. Technical: Wi-Fi is available on every level, with a Smart TV in the great room, 3rd floor master and 1st floor game room. A Bluetooth speaker is provided in the 3rd floor great room. Wide beaches, dense maritime forests, and a marshy soundside make up the 11-mile stretch of sand north of Corolla and south of the Virginia border. A four-wheel-drive vehicle is required to explore this beach community, as there are no paved roads. Visitors staying in homes on the 4x4 beaches must drive on the beach and behind the dunes to access their vacation home. Traveling on the sand to your vacation home offers a unique experience, unlike any other. An opportunity to observe the Corolla wild horses in their natural habitat adds to the charm of this uncomplicated area. Are passes required to drive or park on the 4x4 beaches? Currituck County requires 4x4 parking permits to park on the beach beginning the last Saturday in April to the first Saturday in October. You do not need a pass to drive on the beach or park at the home. Two 4x4 parking passes are included and will be in the home and must be returned to the binder. ***$150 replacement fee per pass will be assessed if lost.*** If more than two passes are needed, there are a limited number of additional passes per week available for purchase from Currituck County. If you plan to purchase extra passes, it is recommended that you do so in advance. The cost for a 4x4 parking pass is $50 and can be purchased online, but will need to be picked up in person at the Corolla's Visitors Center. Do you have suggestions for driving on the 4x4 beaches? •	We strongly recommend 4x4 or AWD vehicles with at least 7.5 inches of ground clearance. •	Bring a tire pressure gauge. Reduced tired pressure is critical to driving on the beach. We strongly encourage your tire pressure to be 18-20 psi. Currituck County ordinance states that tire pressure cannot exceed 20 psi when traveling on the 4x4 beaches for vehicles weighing less than three-quarters of a ton, which is most vehicles. For vehicles weighing between three-quarters of a ton and one-ton, tire pressure cannot exceed 30 psi. Violators could receive a citation and a $50.00 fine. •	Lower your tire pressure prior to traveling to the North Beach Access ramp to the 4x4 beaches. No vehicle of any type may park or unload at the North Beach Access at any time. Complimentary air hoses are available in the parking lot of the Corolla Park for guests staying in the 4x4 area to re-inflate their tires. •	Check the tide prior to arrival; low tide is ideal for beach driving: Outer Banks Tide Chart. •	Arrive before dark, as the beach is more difficult to navigate at night. •	The speed limit is 35 mph unless posted otherwise (15 mph when within 300 feet of pedestrians or wild horses). •	Avoid driving through the surf and seafoam - salt water is extremely corrosive. Drive either on the hard-packed sand near the edge of the water or on the soft sand just east of the dune line. Leave the middle of the beach for parked vehicles and beach-goers. •	All parked vehicles should be in the middle of the beach (east of the dune line and west of the hard-packed sand near the water's edge). Do not block the flow of traffic with chairs, coolers, fishing lines, or any other items. Always be alert for moving vehicles when walking across the hard-packed sand. •	There is no parking for the first approximately 1.5 miles of the beach. Look for the sign to mark where parking begins. Violators will be towed. •	Drivers must be at least 16 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license. •	Currituck County does not allow street legal UTV/side-by-side vehicles except by ATV permits, which are only available to Currituck County residents and property owners. North Carolina allows street legal UTV/side-by-side vehicles on roadways, however, the 4x4 beach is not a roadway, but a Public Vehicular Area controlled by Currituck County. •	Currituck County does not allow personal motorized watercraft on the ocean. Jet skis and personal motorboats are allowed on the Currituck Sound. The closest boat ramp is located at the Whalehead Club in Corolla. •	When is the best time to travel on the 4x4 beaches? If we had to choose, low tide is the easiest time to travel up and down the 4x4 beaches simply because there is more room and the sand tends to be more hard-packed. Travel during most high tides is still possible, it just may be that the sand is softer. During times of rough weather or exceptionally high tides, travelers may need to wait for the water to recede before travel is recommended. Please view the Outer Banks Tide Chart when planning for arrival. Also, we strongly suggest not traveling at night if this is your first time driving on the beach. If driving at night, please be alert to changing beach conditions, people, horses or other animals, debris, and tree stumps. •	Which vehicles are best for driving on the 4x4 beaches? Driving on the beach has historically been a unique way of life on The Outer Banks and is still required in some communities. Please be attentive when driving as beach conditions continually change. Reduced tire pressure is critical to a good beach driving experience and 18-20 psi is strongly encouraged. We also recommend 4x4 or AWD vehicles with at least 7.5 inches of ground clearance. Bringing Your Pet on Vacation Keep these tips in mind if you plan to bring your furry family member to the Outer Banks. Each town has their own regulations regarding pets. Familiarize yourself with the rules in the town you are visiting prior to your arrival. Please clean up pet waste and deposit in appropriate containers. Bring fresh water for your dog to drink at the beach. Drinking salt water can make dogs sick. Provide shade for your pet to rest in at the beach to prevent overheating. Be sure that your pet is protected against fleas and ticks. These pests are abundant on the Outer Banks. Bring a leash for your pet. Most towns have leash laws, which are detailed below. Pavement and beach sand can get hot enough to burn your dog’s feet during the summer. The best times to walk your dog are in the mornings or evenings. Keep an eye on your pet playing in the ocean or sound. Be aware of dangerous surf conditions, rip currents, and possible submerged dangers. Pets are not permitted in the pool or hot tub at any time. Pet Regulations Nags Head: Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach year-round. Leashes cannot exceed 10 feet in length. Kill Devil Hills: Dogs are not permitted on the beach between the hours of 9:00 am to 6:00 pm from May 15th through September 15th, unless they are aiding the handicapped. At all other times, leashed dogs are permitted on the beaches. Kitty Hawk: Dogs are permitted on public beaches. From the Friday before Memorial Day until the day after Labor Day, between the hours of 10:00 am and 6:00 pm, dogs must be on a leash not exceeding 6 feet. At all other times, dogs must be restrained on a leash retractable to 12 feet. Dogs may be taken off the leash only if they will not disturb other people on the beach. Unleashed dogs must be controlled by the handler, who must remain within 30 feet and carry the dog’s leash at all times. Southern Shores: Dogs are not allowed on the beach between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm from May 15th through September 15th. A leash law is enforced the remainder of the year, and leashes cannot exceed 10 feet in length. Duck: Beaches are pet-friendly year-round. Manteo: Across from Pirate's Cove Marina, on the western side of the Washington Baum Bridge, a NC Wildlife Resources Commission boat ramp is available to the public. Parking is available for up to 50 vehicles, and there are several pedestrian walkways for easy, boat-free fishing. Home Information Outer Banks / Guest Information All homes are cleaned and linens changed prior to guest arrival and upon guest departure. Blankets are not laundered in between every guest. Homes with Private Wells The home has a private well. Homes with private wells can occasionally experience low pressure, salty, distasteful or discolored water. There may be an unpleasant sulfur odor. Private well water may discolor hair and/or clothing. Many guests choose to use bottled water for drinking purposes even though the water is tested regularly for contaminants. All homes on the 4x4 beaches have private wells and may have more prevalent water problems, even in homes with water filtration systems. Vacation Home Telephone The home is equipped with a landline telephone. Any unauthorized long distance calls charged to the vacation home telephone will be billed to the leaseholder. Introducing our brand new, semi-oceanfront house, complete with a PRIVATE POOL & HOT TUB. 1,500 sqft of outdoor deck space, two outdoor showers, outdoor swings, grill, Solo fire pit, screened in outdoor lounge. Provided with every amenity you will need. 4x4 vehicle required to access the area. The space There is roughly 1500 sqft of outdoor deck space. Main living area is 2214 sqft, open floor plan with 16 ft ceilings, screened in back deck, covered front deck area and four pane sliding double doors that open up to the main section of the deck. 4 bedrooms, 2 king bed bedrooms with master baths attached and a jack and jill full bath connecting the other two bedrooms. One of which is a queen and twin bed bedroom and the last bedroom is the bunk bed bedroom with 2 single over single bunk beds. Lastly is a rollaway bed that can be used as needed. The best Wi-Fi possible, Starlink business internet. Flat screen smart TVs in all four bedrooms as well as the living area. Reverse osmosis water filtration tap, ice maker, additional refrigerator/ freezer located in the shed, beach chairs also provided. Private pool and hot tub right on the deck. We are semi-oceanfront which means ocean front homes are located across the road, it’s as close as you can get to the ocean outside of renting an oceanfront property. Guest access Guests have access to the entire property. Other things to note In my past years traveling to Carova for a week to stay at my grandparents place this is how I prepared for that trip. Hopefully this will help with your preparation! And remember, if you forget something, you can just drive back off the beach and grab it. Grocery stores, restaurants are literally 5 minutes off the beach back onto the paved roads and those trips, any beach ride is always an experience! Food and drinks are the main items to prepare for. I find the cooler bags not the actual plastic coolers are the best! They take up less room and hold more I think. Just make sure they are waterproof as you will have ice to keep items cold while you drive from wherever your coming from. I generally preplan like 2 dinners, have lunch items and condiments and try to grab some pizzas from Corolla Pizza on the way off the paved roads. Give it an hour for call ahead pickup they are usually very busy in season. Dinner ready upon arrival for a relaxing unpacking settling in for the week evening. We will have a 2nd refrigerator in the downstairs walk-in area next to the outdoor showers which is great for frozen dinners you made last week to avoid any work to be done on vacation as well as the drinks, beers, waters, etc. There is a Kureig Duo coffee machine that takes both pods and ground coffee for a pot. Sunblock and bug spray are a must! I always bring a little medicine bag with Benadryl, calamine or anti itch, aloe, the basic essentials like children’s Tylenol, Rolaids or tums, aspirin, etc. We do have an emergency kit located in the pantry for basic first aid.

Welcome to Splash of Lime Carova OBX! Our remote beach cottage is reached by 9 miles of beach driving after the pavement ends in Corolla and part of the adventure. Wild horses often roam nearby. Relax on the ocean-view porch, walk the shoreline for treasures, or drive your gear right onto the sand. A 4WD vehicle is required. Town is about 30 minutes away, and the scenic drive with wildlife sightings are all part of the experience. The space Enter the main floor from your front decks and the space opens up to the great room with living area, dining space and fully equipped kitchen. This main level offers two bedrooms... one with a king bed and full private bath (walk-in shower) and the other with two double beds. There is a full bath in the hallway for guests in the double room, plus the laundry room is available for use during your stay. Level two offers ... one king room with full private bath and another room with a king plus two single beds. There is also another full bath in the hallway on this level. The rear deck is off the kitchen and is perfect for sunsets and overlooks the pool. The pool is open mid-April through mid-October. Pool heat is available for $300 per stay. This fee is charged only to guests who choose to use this amenity. Ground-level below the house provides wonderful space for the hot tub, outdoor shower, charcoal BBQ grill, hammocks, hanging daybed, corn hole, picnic table with plenty of space for gathering and games. No parking allowed under the house is allowed, all cars must stay on the sand. Dogs are welcome - max 2. Map view shows 2 miles to VA border, but the property is only accessible via Rt 12N. We are approximately 150 miles from Virginia Beach by car. We are near the Corolla, Duck and Southern Shores areas of the Northern Outer Banks. Driving on the sand is required and is part of the 4WD beach experience. 4WD vehicles are a must for driving to Carova. The pavement ends in Corolla at mm 13. You will drive 9 miles on the beach to mm 22 to reach the house. GPS will try to take you off the beach behind the dunes but stay on the beach and use the cell tower for a visual reference day/night will be the cell tower at the Carova Beach Firehouse, which is at mm 21.5. Off-sand parking and transport to the beach house is available for you to arrange through local vendors for guests without a 4WD. Message us for contact info if needed. We supply bathroom towels, bed linens, kitchen towels. Plan to bring your own beach towels & beach blanket. Beach chairs are available for use at the house. Pool heat is available for $300 per stay. Welcome to the Salty Mermaid Lodge! This 2023 new build 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath is located in the secluded 4x4 area of Carova Beach. To get to our home you MUST have a four-wheel drive vehicle. We are down the beach at milepost 23 which is a 10-mile drive from the pavement. You will be a short drive or walk to the beach. Enjoy the panoramic views of the ocean in our crow's nest. Also the unique attraction of the wild horses! The space Our house is a 3 bedroom with 1 king size ensuite, 1 queen room and a bunk room with a twin over full size bunk bed. A full bath is in the hall on the bedroom level. We also have an outdoor shower for cleaning up after a full day on the beach. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you would need for cooking meals. Wi-fi and Roku televisions in the living area and all 3 bedrooms are provided. With the expansive decks and spacious living area there is plenty of space for everyone to have an amazing stay! Guest access The entire property is available for full access with the exception of 4 owner's closets and the garage. Other things to note In order to park on the beach you must have a beach parking pass. We provide 2 passes with the rental of our home. Please leave them for future guests to enjoy ( A $500 fee will be charged for missing parking passes). Parking is prohibited for the first 1.5 miles north of the 4WD beach access. It is also enforced that you park in the middle of the beach as the dune line and foreshore are the road except for the area between milepost 14.5 and 17. Please air down your tires to 15-20 psi to make traversing the sand easier. The back of the guest parking passes explains everything you need to know for driving and parking on the beach. The exterior of our home is protected by security cameras. ANY tampering with cameras and or signals will result in immediate eviction with NO refund.

The space The Salty Wife is a family friendly beach house located on the northern end of the 4 wheel drive Carova Beach. The remote location offers the perfect setting to relax and unwind while enjoying all that nature has to offer. A leisurely 5 minute walk will take you to the ocean where beachcombing, sunbathing, and wild ponies await you! Whether you are looking to relax in peace or explore the nearby wildlife, this home provides the perfect balance of comfort and adventure. A 5-minute drive will take you to the Virginia border and False Cape State Park where you will find one of the most secluded beaches on the east coast. Inside, the reverse floor plan offers beautiful views and ample living space to sprawl out. The bedrooms boast 1 king, 1 queen, and 1 full size bed. Bath towels and linens provided. Guests are expected to supply their own hygiene products. Outside, you will enjoy multi-level decks to soak in the sun and enjoy the serene views. Take advantage of the charcoal grill and picnic table, perfect for enjoying easy meals with family and friends. The private pool is perfect for lounging and winding down after a day of beach activities. The pool is available Memorial Day through Labor Day. Things to consider: The driving conditions on the beach vary from day to day. 4 wheel drive is strongly advised and airing down tires to 18-20psi is key to success. The wells in Carova are very shallow which can allow tannins into the water and result in a discoloration. The water is filtered but bringing bottled drinking water is advised. This house backs up to the wild life refugee and horses are seen swimming in the canals and roaming the property daily. Relax on the large back deck and watch boats pass by and enjoy the wildlife! The space Updated pictures of new pool and the rest of the house will be posted soon! Bring your boat or fish in the canal off the private dock/bulkhead. The house has two queen bedrooms with a jack & Jill full bath along with a king sized bedroom with huge walk in shower! The living room has a large sleeper/reclining sectional couch with a 85” tv, all bedrooms have a 50 plus inch tv in them. We installed a top of the line water filtration system to ensure clean water throughout the house! More details to follow!

Other things to note Please be advised there is a $100 non-refundable pet fee, per pet, per stay. This fee is to cover the additional cleaning required to assure future guest allergy concerns. this fee does not cover any damage caused by your pet, any and all charges incurred above this will be charged as necessary Please feel free to use the games, kayaks, and amenities available. Please be kind and make sure they are returned as found, clean and proper working order. Due to same day unit turns yes are required to be out by 10 AM so preparation can be made for the next family past 10 AM will incur a $100 per 15 minute charge for any time beyond the checkout time

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Located in the 4x4 area of Carova Beach, our home is sure to offer the perfect "Cool Change" for your next vacation. Located on the canal, it offers plenty of water activities or a walk to the beach. Our home is situated near the Carova Beach Boat ramp and park, a popular place for the wild horses to roam. Reminder, a four-wheel drive vehicle is required to access Carova Beach and our home. The space Bedroom 1 -The Master bedroom has a queen-size bed and private bathroom. Bedroom 2 - Queen-size bed. Bedroom 3- Two sets of twins with trundle beds. This would allow space for two additional children. 2nd bathroom is in the hallway for guests in bedrooms 2 & 3. Guest access Guests must have a 4x4 vehicle and be able to climb stairs. Guests have access to the entire house. Off season- 2 night minimum. Summer Season- weekly rental, Sunday check in/out. Other things to note Carova Beach is only assessable by 4x4 and located at the northern tip of Corolla in the Outerbanks, just past the Currituck Lighthouse. Before arriving, it is suggested that you bring your groceries and purchase gas. A grocery store, gas, shopping, and plenty of amazing restaurants are about 20 minutes away in Corolla.

One full size bathroom inside with a bonus shower and toilet on the deck. Nicely furnished with coastal decor. Guest access Guest has full access to house. Door code entry. Other things to note A 4WD vehicle is required to access this property. Deflate tires to 18-20 PSI at the mandatory air down area in Corolla just before the pavement ends. Try to time the drive for two hours either side of low tide. We furnish 2 beach parking passes. A replacement fee of $250 will be charged if the passes are lost taken. Although the water in our home is safe for drinking, the color, taste and odor may vary. All water on the North Beaches is well water. We strongly suggest that you purchase bottled water for drinking. Every effort has been made to insure the best water quality possible, however these conditions are beyond our control. Water is provided via electric pump. If electricity goes out, water cannot be pumped. We are about 15 miles from the nearest grocery store so we highly recommend that you get your supplies before you arrive.
