There are several acres of forest on our property behind the house; you are welcome to walk around and gather already-downed firewood from there, but we recommend sticking to managed trails in the area (see guest book) for hiking. If you are hiking near or during hunting season, please be aware of your visibility; we provide two orange safety vests in the entry closet. Other things to note The cabin has electric heat which can be adjusted by room. There is a desk in the loft that is good for working. Viasat wireless internet covers the property for your online needs. Please note that satellite internet is not conducive to online gaming or some Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), which some workplaces require to log on remotely. In our personal experience we have been able to telework (including video calls) without much issue, but be aware that speeds will be lower than broadband. Other things to note We warmly welcome dogs, but kindly request that you keep them on a leash when outside of the house. If you're visiting the Tomahawk MX track, feel free to ask for a power washer to clean your bikes. We also have a shed with electric outlets for quick maintenance, although please bring your own tools. The golf courses and spa in the community have additional fees for access and services. For security purposes, we have three outdoor security cameras—one at the screen door, one at the back door, and one on the shed. These cameras are on and record on motion, but alerts are disabled. There is a gravel driveway where you can park several cars. The community clears snow off of the paved roads, but not the driveway, so if it snows a lot or icy conditions are forecasted, we would suggest parking at the top of the driveway if you don't have a 4WD. The garage and master bedroom closet are restricted to owner access. Other things to note The closest grocery store is about 25 min away, we suggest buying your supplies on the way. However, there are also multiple convenience stores with the basic essentials within 10-15 mins (e.g., Dollar General, 7-Eleven, others). The home is baby friendly and has a high chair, pack 'n play, and lots of kids books. We have an outdoor security camera monitoring the driveway for the security and protection of our guests and property. We have a strict NO SMOKING policy. The living area has plenty of seating with wood burning fireplace and 55” TV mounted above. You can enjoy over 100 cable channels, music and streaming services. The space The open kitchen allows for great culinary memories as it is equipped with everything you need. Then go outside and light up the firepit which is surrounded by outdoor lights creating an unforgettable evening under the stars. There’s also a kids play set and hammock for you to relax in. You can also enjoy the screened in porch with tear drop hanging chair and sectional sofa. This makes for a great spot to watch the bird’s snack on the feeders and play in the bird house. The front outdoor porch has a fully equipped gas grill and rocking chairs to relax while looking out over the pine trees. You have full access to the community sports center and pools. There you can enjoy, basketball, tennis, racquetball, volleyball, 2 outdoor pools and 1 indoor pool with a jacuzzi. You can also schedule a tee time for golf or “foot’ golf directly with the pro shop. Just call ahead to make sure they have a tee time! There are also other lawn sport items to use on site such as lawn darts, ladder ball, bocce, basketball, football and tennis rackets. Enjoy your stay at the Bear Pines Retreat and “RELAX”! The space West Virginia is a nature lover's paradise and the cabin is situated on two acres of wooded property, just minutes from the 23,000-acre Sleepy Creek State Wildlife Area. The area features 70 miles of hiking trails with gorgeous views. Fall foliage is stunning and there is a variety of wildlife to be seen. The cabin sleeps 6 comfortably with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a screened-in porch, and two decks for relaxing outside. The master bedroom and second bedroom both have queen-sized beds. The third bedroom features two twin beds. For larger groups, the comfy L-shaped couch in the great room can sleep two—especially perfect for kids. The master bathroom features a walk-in tiled shower with a bench. The second bath has a standard tub and shower. There is also an outdoor hot tub that comfortably seats four. Feels like heaven! The cabin features a beautiful, well-equipped kitchen stocked with coffee, tea, spices, olive oil, and other cooking essentials. In the great room, enjoy the wood-burning fireplace, 18-foot vaulted ceiling, floor-to-ceiling windows, and easy access to the deck. Some of my favorite things to do here at the cabin include having morning coffee on the screened porch while watching the birds. Having friends over for dinner and playing music or cards. The golf is great, with two 18-hole courses: one, a standard-length Par 72 course, and the other a shorter mid-length course (Par 62) that plays in about 2.5-3 hours. A day on the links or the trails, massage at the spa, yoga on the deck, an evening by the fire—whatever spells r-e-l-a-x-a-t-i-o-n for you—is here in the beautiful Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. The cabin also features excellent WiFi with Netflix and other streaming services available. Cyclists will enjoy the wide open country roads, and the famous C&O Towpath and Western Maryland Rail Trail accessible in nearby Hancock, MD. The cabin is also 1-hour from skiing and snowboarding at Whitetail Resort. Just 20 minutes away is historic Berkeley Springs, WV featuring natural hot spring baths, local crafts, and excellent dining. Forty minutes to the east is historic and adorable Shepherdstown, WV. Another fun day trip would be taking the train from Martinsburg (20 minutes away) to Harper's Ferry to explore the Appalachian Trail and the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers. There are extra blankets and plenty of pillows, but if you prefer your own, feel free to bring it! A note on pets and allergies: Dogs sometimes visit, and although the space has been thoroughly cleaned, be warned if you are sensitive to animal dander. I wouldn't want allergies to ruin anyone's stay!

The space The chalet home features 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. High speed internet throughout the house. The primary bedroom located in the upstairs loft has a king bed with private bathroom and personal balcony. It also has a TV for streaming. The other 2 bedrooms are on the main level, one with a queen bed and the other with bunk bed and trundle. The living area has plenty of seating with open floor plan looking out the A frame windows. There are plenty of board games, card games and foosball table in the side room. There’s a 55” TV mounted above the gas fireplace. You have access to over 100 cable channels, music and streaming services (with your credentials). You’ll also find your complimentary s’mores station on the game cabinet. The kitchen has all new appliances which make for great culinary memories. It is equipped with just about everything you can think of. There is a Keurig and regular coffee machine built in one. 10 Keurig cups of assorted flavors complimentary during your stay as well as coffee, cream and sugar. Last but not least… the outdoor space! (This is why I love this place) First you have a 50-foot deck that extends the entire length of the house with a gas grill. On one side, you have the fire table with plenty of comfortable cushion seating. You can chill out while watching the birds listening to nature. In the middle, you have the patio table with umbrella for outdoor dining. If you just want to hang out, you can relax on the lounge chairs or step into the screened porch. The screened porch has an L shape couch, papasan chair and mini pub table for your enjoyment. Great space for a morning coffee or evening night cap. The screened porch overlooks your own private fire pit which feels like you’re in the middle of the woods. On your way down the stone slab steps that lead to the fire pit, don’t forget to check out the gnome village! A little project me and my daughter put together for everyone to enjoy :) Resort Amenities: You have full access to the community recreation center and pools. There you can enjoy, basketball, tennis, racquetball, volleyball and all 3 pools with a jacuzzi. They have sports equipment you can use. There are 2 outdoor pools and 1 indoor pool with jacuzzi. You can schedule a tee time for golf or “foot’ golf directly with the pro shop. Just call ahead to make sure they have a tee time! Even better they have a spa & hair salon onsite which is fantastic! Just make sure to call ahead for a reservation. There’s also the Cub House Grille onsite which has great food and drinks! There are hiking trail maps in the chalet for local hikes. You also have access to the Winter Camp Park. This is a great place for outdoor picnics under the pavilion as well as the entrance to a few of the trails. Cabin on the Run is named after the beautiful run running behind the property with a babbling soundscape that can be heard from the expansive deck. Cabin on the Run provides all modern amenities so that you only need to bring clothes and food for a trip away. The space The cabin is located in the Blue Ridge mountains, and is only a short drive from DC and Baltimore. Although the cabin is the forefront to 23,000 acres of forest (Sleepy Creek Wildlife Reserve) you are a part of the larger community of cabins in the golfing resort ‘The Woods’. With two different courses, you and your family have ample opportunity to explore the sport of golf. The cabin has everything you could need for a relaxing time away- high speed internet, gorgeous views, and plentiful wildlife. The cabin's open floor plan is perfect for entertaining with a full kitchen opening to the living room’s two story vaulted ceiling. The cabin has 1 bedroom and an open loft with room for many people to sleep. There is a large entry room to put all of your bags, coolers, and whatever else you may bring. There is a cozy reading nook leading out onto a large panoramic deck. The private primary bedroom houses a queen size bed and closet. The loft has one full bed, two twin beds, and a twin floor bed. We also provide a pack and play and highchair for our younger guests that may be staying. The standard kitchen includes stainless steel appliances (including a full-sized refrigerator with freezer and oven with stove top), a traditional drip coffee maker, a toaster oven, toaster, microwave, blender, crockpot and all the pots, pans, and utensils you'll need. The living room has a flat screen HDTV with streaming services such as Netflix, and a wood stove for colder nights. Other things to note The Woods Resort is in a location that is accessible to both Sleepy Creek Lake and the Potomac River, both of which are great for boating and fishing alike. C&O Towpath and Western Maryland Rail Trail are accessible in Hancock, MD for those who have an interest in cycling. The cabin is also only 1 hour away from Whitetail Resort, known for snowboarding and skiing, as well as tubing for younger children. There are also many trails in the resort through the forest. You may see them driving through the neighborhood- which is one of our favorite things to explore and walk! Being close to Berkeley Springs, WV it is near many natural hot spring baths. Shepherdstown, WV and Harpers Ferry (Bolivar), WV are nearby as well. Both historic areas offer restaurants and shopping that are a nice way to explore the area around you. Martinsburg, WV is 20 minutes away where you can ride the rail access via Amtrak and MARC across the state for amazing views. You can also take the train into DC for a day exploring museums and monuments as well! The Woods Resort offers 36 holes of golf with mountain views as well as a full service spa and restaurant. There is a year round recreational center with an indoor pool and hot tub, as well as 2 outdoor pools. Best of all, our cabin is less than two-hours drive from D.C. and Baltimore, so you can feel like you're far away without a long drive. The space We designed this space to be bright but cozy, perfect for families or groups of friends to relax and have fun together. Unlike many Airbnbs, which are owned by companies, we bought and designed this space for our own family. We personally stay here regularly, and we hope it will feel like a home away from home for you like it does for us! On the main level, you’ll find a bedroom with a queen-sized bed, plus a second bedroom with a full bed and a twin daybed over a twin trundle. There's also a spacious kitchen and dining room, living room, and a large bathroom with a shower and tub. There’s also a separate office space where you can get some work done while you’re away. From this floor, you can access the screened porch and deck overlooking the woods. Upstairs, you'll find a loft bedroom with a queen bed and twin bed and ensuite bathroom. We've converted the detached garage to a games room, complete with a ping pong table, darts, and a custom built-in bar. There is also a firepit and outdoor grill for guests to use. Guest access Guests have full access to all of the amenities of our cabin, plus use of the community fishing and hiking trails. Guests may purchase one-day pool/gym passes from us at cost. As of May 2025, the cost is $7.50 each, but please confirm as the pricing changes if resort rates go up. Please request passes at least 24 hours before you need them. Guests ages 4 and under do not need a pass to use the pool when accompanied by an adult. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult when using the resort facilities. Guests can also golf at The Woods Resort or use the spa for an additional fee (please visit the website directly to book a tee time or spa appointment).
