Built on the footprint of an 1880s miner's cabin, it carries the past into the present. The space You'll find in-floor radiant heat and a cozy gas log stove make for warm nights with no hassle. There are 2 bedrooms, both with a queen beds, and 2 baths. The downstairs bathroom has a walk-in shower, and heated floor. The upstairs has a deep soaking tub with a shower. The main living area is open concept. The living room has a TV with a DVD player. Wifi is also available. The gorgeous kitchen is equipped with a gas range, microwave, dishwasher and everything you need to cook up some great meals. People have different reactions to this high altitude. In the “winter season” (October- May) there may be snow, so make sure you check the weather forecast prior to your arrival. It is required to bring a 4wd SUV to ensure a safe arrival and stay while driving. The roads are well maintained in the neighborhood and the driveway will be plowed. If there is overnight snow and the snow removal team has not arrived there may be some required shoveling to the entrance. Unfortunately, Fairplay has been affected by forest fires in the past summer months. Due to this there is no outside burning (e.g. Firepits) allowed on the property. And how do you let that jam-packed adventure day ring out? With a cook-out and a glass of wine on the spacious deck, a game of horseshoes and a few roasted marshmallows under the Milky Way. The space Being off-the-grid in an authentic log cabin on 10 acres of undisturbed forest allows for a unique and deep connection to nature and a simpler way of life. Camp Sherman is powered by solar with its own well, twice-filtered pure drinking water, indoor plumbing and gas. The kitchen is fully stocked to cook a gourmet meal (sorry no microwave) or enjoy a morning coffee (French press) on the porch swing or in Adirondack rocking chairs. As much as we love the coziness of a roaring fire in the fireplace, we also appreciate a good movie and solid WiFi. Starlink is in the house. Modern tech made it possible, so you get to enjoy both the solitude of the setting, along with tech-enabled creature comforts of WiFi and Netflix. It is next to the full bath which has a walk-in shower. The decorations throughout the home are exquisite. Everything reflects the cozy romantic atmosphere of a luxury mountain cabin. Upstairs there is a second spacious bedroom which also has a king size bed. It too has new furniture, linens and amenities. You will love the views from the bed. You can look right out of the two story windows and see the beautiful white capped mountains. What a way to wake up!  The property is on a dead end road with very few properties. It is not a busy and crowded location. You will most likely not see anyone during your stay except an occasional visitor such as a moose or fox. There are also deer and bears in the area. If you watch closely you may even see some elk. The front porch runs the length of the front of the house and has comfortable seating where you can sit and enjoy your morning coffee and take in the gorgeous mountain views. There is a gas grill provided behind the home.  The area is know for it's unlimited outdoor activities. Almost anything you can think of is within minutes of the home. You can hike and explore the National Forest right behind the home. There is a road just above the location of the home that you can hike to the end of and be right in the National Forest. Many of the famous 14'ers are located in this area where you can hike or climb. Horseback riding is just a few minutes from the home at the Platte River Ranch. They have hay rides, hour long rides, and even evening steak rides. If you like white-water rafting, the Arkansas River is only a few miles away. You can raft at Buena Vista. They have a variety of trips from safe photo floats to wild rapid trips. ATVing is also great in the area. There are multiple locations where you can ATV. One Trail over Mosquito Pass takes you right into Leadville where you can enjoy lunch or dinner at one of the many restaurants in the restored mining town. This is a fabulous place to shop for antiques too!  About the owners: As native Coloradans, we love the outdoors, the spectacular seasons, and the diversity of nature. Our adventurous spirits lead us to purchase our cozy log cabin in 2015. You will be in close proximity to some of the best hiking, fishing, snowshoeing and skiing in Colorado (30 minutes to Breckenridge and 35 minutes to Buena Vista). Featuring 2 queen beds on the main level & 1 full and 2 twin beds in the loft area. Steps from the Sacramento Creek. Enjoy the beautiful wonderland of the Mountains with so much to do and see all year round!! The space Sit on the front patio in the sun and watch for wildlife or have your morning coffee by the fresh running crystal clear mountain creek. You are likely to see a moose or two wander by down the road or grazing in the marsh across the road. At night, the stars are an amazing view and you can actually see the milky way across the sky. No light pollution hear! The smell of fresh pines is very peaceful, and in the spring and summer wild flowers are abundant. There is plenty of hiking trails near by, and if you want a bit more to do, Buna Vista and Breckenridge are short drives with plenty of restaurants and shopping, as well as other activities for winter and summer fun. Guest access The entire home is available. There are 2 bedrooms located on the first floor, each with a queen bed. There is a pull out queen bed sofa in the large living area. The upstairs has a loft area with 2 twin beds and a queen bed that are best suited for teens or young adults as the ceiling is low (adults cannot fully stand erect) , and access is with the ladder shown in the photo. Other things to note If you are interested in fishing, there is good fishing in downtown Fairplay at the Fairplay Beach (don't let the name fool you) (10 minutes) as well as some fly fishing places nearby. Antero reservoir is known for Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, and Snake River Cutthroat Trout (35 minutes) . A bit farther is Spinney Mountain Reservoir (48 minutes) and Tarryall reservoir (48 minutes) . North Fork of the South Platte River is a good spot as well. (1 hr 15 minutes) These are all in South Park County.

Best suited for 4 people. 25 miles to Breckenridge, steps away from hiking , and short drive from world class fly fishing this cabin is suited for every outdoor adventure or simply relaxing in front of the wood burning stove or on the wrap around deck. This cabin has cell/starlink internet service, which is hard to find! STR License #: 25-0216 The space Staying at this cozy log cabin is all you need to recharge and relax. This property is on a 2 acre corner lot so feels incredibly private, but with the benefit of being located near great activities (Pennsylvania Mountain trailhead is walkable, I have backcountry skied right out of the cabin deck, and we are close to town for provisions). We frequently get positive feedback about how our home is decorated and hope you enjoy our tasteful vintage mountain vibes. From the main level you can enjoy lounging by the wood burning stove, grilling on the outdoor Weber, cooking in the well equipped kitchen (Calphalon pots and pans, Henckels Knives, Colorado spices, Nespresso coffee maker w/ all the pods you need), all with a stunning view of the Mount Sherman 14er. We are frequented by Rufous Hummingbirds (summer only), Stellers Jays, Fox, Pine Martens, Moose, Deer, and an occasional Bear so keep your eyes peeled for excellent wildlife spotting. This is high altitude! Please take care to drink lots of water and take proper precautions while exerting yourself. People have different reactions to this high of altitude. Unfortunately if you do get sick the only solution is to head down to lower levels which may mean cutting your trip short. If coming from out of state please take the time to acclimate at a lower altitude prior to your arrival! The Altitude Research Center suggests starting by taking a day at a modest altitude that’s between 5,000 and 6,000 feet, such as Denver. Research shows that people who stay a night in Denver reduce their chances of getting altitude sickness by anywhere from 25 to 50 percent. Spend two nights in Denver and chances are good travelers will not experience altitude sickness. *** WINTER WEATHER INFO*** WINTER WEATHER IS EXTREMELY UNPREDICTABLE! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TRAVELERS INSURANCE!! In the winter (which can be a long season with snow as early as October all the way through May) it is imperative to come prepared to the cabin. Winter weather can be unpredictable and snow can come with heavy accumulation. It is necessary to bring a 4wd SUV (also pack water, snacks, and blankets in your car which is good practice for any colorado winter driving). Winter driving experience is necessary and if for any reason you get stuck the cost of a tow is the guests responsibility. The roads are well maintained in the neighborhood and I do have plowing of the driveway (they will come for accumulation over 4 inches deep). Also some shoveling may be necessary to get to the entrance. I personally do not like driving to/from the cabin in the dark in the winter and wouldn't recommend it to guests either. Please ask me questions about this in advance if you have any and remember to drive carefully and slowly. CODOT is the best reference for real time winter road closures as well as laws regarding what equipment your car must have to be compliant with traction laws. Please be flexible, sensible, and safe in case of a winter storm. I will be in touch if there are winter storms predicted during your stay, you must come to the cabin prepared with proper winter clothing and food! ****power outages are more likely during a storm so please bring firewood as well. 1-2 bundles for every night of your stay in case of an outage the home can be comfortably heated by the wood burning stove and gas fire place.**** ***FOREST FIRE INFO*** The colorado mountains have been plagued by forest fires for the last several summers. Due to dry conditions at such high elevation no outside burning is allowed under any circumstances ***Internet/Cellphone service*** The cabin DOES have cell service for most major providers which can be hard to come by in the neighborhood. NEW!!! We have upgraded to STARLINK INTERNET which has speeds fast enough for zoom work calls, streaming videos etc, so work from the cabin is definitely a new option! ***infants/young children*** My cabin is not set up for new walkers. Airbnb does not allow me to be very specific when it comes to what age ranges are acceptable so I leave it up to the parents to decide if my cabin will fit your needs. The outlets are not child proofed and the stairs are such (log and spiral) that they can not be blocked with baby gates. I do have a pack and play and a counter mounted baby chair, guests are responsible for setting these items up and returning them to where they found them. Please ask any additional questions if you have concerns. Guest access House is all yours! Please feel free to make yourself at home. In the late winter months snow sometimes makes it difficult to access cabin by the deck level as we can get several feet of snow. It is best to access cabin by lower level mudroom in the winter to keep cabin warm and also to avoid bringing snow in. From the lower level there is only spiral stair access to upper level - I am noting this here as this may be an issue with children and older adults. Some shoveling may be required to reach entrance. Other things to note **NEW** We have recently installed Starlink Satellite internet for high speed browsing, video calls, etc. This amount of bandwidth is suitable for work from home situations. Breckenridge is a scenic 23 mile drive to world class skiing and Epic Mountain Town shops and restaurants. Centrally located to many 14er peaks and hiking, rafting, mtn biking, gold medal fishing or just relaxing on the deck. Starlink WiFi with Netflix and other channels to sign into. The space Lofted upstairs with 2 full beds and a main floor bedroom with a queen bed. A deck with year round hot tub for enjoying the silence or barbecue. Fully equipped kitchen with microwave and coffee maker and all necessary utensils for cooking at home. Tap water is safe for drinking. Tv downstairs with Roku, Netflix, and many other subscription channels to sign into. Tv also in upstairs. This is a quiet area and sound travels, so please be respectful of others. We request that all music and loud outside activitety be brought back inside between the hrs 10pm 7 am. ABSOLUTELY NO OUTSIDE FIRES OF ANY KIND OR FIREWORKS Guest access Guest will have access to the entire home. Other things to note Hi speed Stalink satellite wifi, and good cell reception for Verizon and T-Mobile. Wifi calling works well too. The surrounding areas have "dead" spots for reception and data ( aka Rocky Mountains, Continental Divide, Hoosier and Kenosha pass please plan accordingly and download or take screen shots of important info. In consideration of the next guests please leave the hot tub at 104 deg f upon checking-out. Thermostats are located in the downstairs bedroom and on the wall behind the couch. Please turn down to 70 deg when checking out and be mindful of blankets or pillows on heaters.

We have a reliable plow service but plowing isn’t immediate, we are on the rotation after snowfall is 4 inches. Please plan accordingly. I highly recommend renting a vehicle through Turo and I am happy to specifically recommend a vehicle I personally rent when I fly to El Alma. A Jeep Wrangler works well in my opinion. *Elevation* Alma, Colorado is proudly the USAs highest incorporated town sitting at over 10,000 feet. El Alma A-frame is also at this elevation. What you can expect varies for everyone, but slight headaches, getting easily winded and some mild sleep disruption is common. My best recommendation is to HYDRATE as much as possible and take some Advil and maybe an extra nap. That usually does the trick. *Connecting with Your Soul* Part of the beauty of El Alma A-Frame is that while super close to world class resorts, it's also peacefully in the middle of a quiet valley. We hope you understand that while the cabin is adorable and cozy, it is still a cabin from the 1970s in the woods. What this means is: sensitive septic system, well water (delicious and icy cold), no trash pickup. We don't expect our guests to do anything out of the ordinary except be conscious of these things. Don't over-use water, do not flush anything but toilet paper, and keep all your trash inside so that bears and other wildlife are not tempted to visit. The cleaners will remove trash upon check-out. The cabin is older, and imperfect and that’s what makes it special :)

One side of the garage is available for guest use and the roadways are maintained by the town of Alma, but 4-WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES ARE recommended for getting around from November through May due to the frequent snow storms in this area.   Park County is an activity center of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, it's a great "Base Camp!" If you can think of an outdoor activity, you will probably find it within 10-20 minutes of the cabin. Guest access Guests have exclusive access to the entire cabin and approximately one acre of private, forested property, including the creek, deck, hot tub, and outdoor spaces. The cabin is yours to enjoy throughout your stay. There is free parking for up to two vehicles in the private driveway. Parking on county roads is not permitted. The cabin is accessed by approximately two miles of county-maintained dirt roads through beautiful Placer Valley. During the winter, the county regularly plows the roads, and we also hire a private contractor to keep the driveway clear after snowstorms. Four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive is required during the winter months - October to May. Although you'll feel tucked away in the mountains, you're only about 25 minutes from Breckenridge's world-class skiing, dining, shopping, and year-round outdoor recreation. Alma is 7 minutes with restaurants and a small grocery store. FairPlay is 15 minutes away with a full grocery store, historic downtown and restaurants. It's the perfect balance of privacy and convenience. Other things to note High Elevation: The cabin is located at nearly 11,000 feet above sea level. If you're traveling from a lower elevation, it's normal to feel the effects of the altitude. We recommend drinking plenty of water, taking it easy on your first day, and limiting alcohol until you've had time to acclimate. Spending extended periods in the hot tub can also make the effects of altitude feel stronger. Most guests have a wonderful experience, but if you have a medical condition that could be affected by high elevation, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider before your trip. If you're concerned about staying at high altitude, a lower-elevation destination may be a better fit.

AWD is also a bonus. Park County does an excellent job in plowing and maintaining the main roads, including CR 14 up to Mountain View Drive. You should be able to get to the house fairly easy with the appropriate vehicle and tires or traction. If you are uncertain if your tires will make it, we recommend picking up a set of chains or auto socks. We have a reliable plow service but plowing isn’t immediate, we are on the rotation after snowfall is 4 inches. Please plan accordingly. *ELEVATION* The Elf Haus sits at 11,000 feet above sea level (3352 meters). If you are not used to this altitude, we recommend taking it easy until you are acclimated. Drink plenty of water and not exerting yourself too hard will help with this adjustment. What you can expect varies for everyone, but slight headaches, getting easily winded and some mild sleep disruption is common. Great access to fishing, hiking, skiing, biking, 4x4, or simply take a walk along the South Platte river that flows through the middle of the neighborhood in the valley. Hike along the river, spot wildlife, rest below fourteen-thousand-foot peaks; Mt Lincoln and Mt Bross, and truly get away from it all while being so close to many amenities. We enjoy keeping the cabin well stocked with plenty of spices, olive oil & vinegar, coffee, cream & sugar, toilet paper, paper towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. The kitchen does have a dishwasher. Important Notes PLEASE READ: Four wheel drive or all wheel drive is HIGHLY recommended in November through May. The driveway and roads are plowed, but our high elevation valley gets a lot of snow. You will take a dirt road to get to the house. We strongly advise against coming to the Colorado mountains in the winter without a four wheel drive vehicle. During the winter, it is likely that there will be snow and ice on the roads. The roads are well-maintained, but this is just a part of driving in the Colorado mountains. We cannot offer refunds due to snow or ice on the road. Our wifi is Starlink. It is the best in the area. We have no problem using wifi or zoom. Cell phone service may be spotty in the area depending on your carrier. This cabin is in one of the highest elevation towns in Colorado and altitude sickness is possible. Please be cautious, acclimate if necessary, and stay hydrated. The stars are incredible here, please anticipate that there will not be street lamps in our neighborhood. Check Out Procedures: To be transparent, we want guests to know what they will be asked to do upon check out. We only ask guests to do the bare minimum required for the place to be left safe and sanitary. This means we ask guests to do their own dishes, leave the bagged up trash just inside the front door, and leave the house locked and all 4 thermostats at 60 degrees. Whether lounging in your well appointed room or breaking bread with new friends in the great room, Alma House is a fun and unique place to stay in the high country. The space The Bear's Den is one of two queen+bunkbed rooms in our shared rooming house, Alma House. Alma House is a mountain-town rooming house with a hip-yet-homey vibe, and situated in the middle of every mountain activity you could possibly imagine including hiking, biking, skiing, snowboarding, fly fishing, mining, rafting, golfing, and more. Our rooming house is right in the heart of town with a gorgeous mountain view and is an ideal to explore and play in the high country. The Bear's Den is a private room on the second level of Alma House and can sleep up to 4 people with one queen bed and a twin XL bunkbed. Each bed is comfortably appointed with pillows, bedding, and throws. Towels and washcloths are also provided and can be found in the large wardrobe in the room. Our 5 full-bathrooms have recently been updated with 2 located on the upper floor, 2 additional full-bathrooms on the main floor, and the remaining full-bathroom on the lower level. These shared bathrooms have large showers with shampoo, conditioner, and bodywash dispensers, toilet, wash basin, and hand towels. There are lots of roads to explore in the area that can take you to excellent views, remote locations and even ghost towns. • Head to Buena Vista and check out the Arkansas River, only 40 minutes away. In the summer this area is a rafting haven between Buena Vista and Salida. The cabin and the town are not perfect and come with quirky charm like uneven floors, a low ceiling beam, and chilly floors. Town is not polished- in a good way. Provided Items: • The kitchen is fully stocked with all essentials. We also provide complimentary salt and pepper, coffee and tea, paper towels, trash bags, dish soap, hand soap, dishwasher detergent, kitchen towels, and a sponge. • The bathroom is fully stocked with necessities as well as hairdryers and full size hand soap/conditioner/shampoo/body wash. Walk a few blocks into town and catch the free bus to Breckenridge. Rafting on the Arkansas River in Buena Vista is about 40 minutes away. The space Rental includes the upper two floors of the house and garage. You will have exclusive use of the garage, backyard, hot tub, and front deck. Ski/Snowboard storage racks are mounted in the garage. The garage is a deep one car garage and has room for bikes, kayaks, and most other "toys" you bring. There is one bedroom with a queen bed, a sleeping porch with bunk beds, and a loft with two queen size beds. Fits 4 people comfortably. Ladder to loft is very steep so may not be a good fit for families with very small children. Fairplay is a small western mountain town and can be very quiet. It is located 30 minutes to Breckenridge. The space Our guests love staying in an original log cabin in a small mountain town. If you want more restaurants and shops, Breckenridge is 30 minutes away. There is a rec center in town and a nearby path to the local lake. Fairplay also has one of the most unique museums which opens in the warmer months called South Park City. Guest access Guests have access to the entire cabin. Other things to note Please note that the elevation is high and guests should consider acclimating prior to their trip. Please be especially cautious of the impact that altitude will have on hydration, alcohol use, drug use, and other side effects. Due to being an owner-run small property, we cannot offer refunds for altitude sickness and recommend exploring lower altitude locations if that is a concern.

Guest access Guests are welcome to make themselves at home at the rental unit and on the exterior property grounds. Other things to note This is a private lockoff within a family home.
