Steep mountain roads are often what it takes to get incredible views like the ones from this cabin, and those who can manage the drive won't be disappointed! REMOTE LOCATION: Please be aware that this cabin is a good 20 min drive from the nearest full-service grocery store. If you're looking for seclusion, this is it! But if you prefer being close to store then this may not be the place for you. EV CHARGING: We have partnered with Ok2Charge to provide Level 2 EV charging. Payment is required. The inside gas fireplace is temporarily inoperable, however, the outside gas fire place and wood burning fire place is available and operable, perfect for roasting marshmallows and making s'mores. No illegal substances or drugs permitted. No underage drinking or other illegal activities are allowed on the property. No fireworks are permitted to be used on the property. Televisions: Android TV in main living room and ROKU TVs in bedrooms on first floor. Please log out of your personal accounts before check-out. Guests understand that these injuries or outcomes may arise from my own or others’ negligence, including that of the host, or from the conditions at the Activity location. Nonetheless, guests assume all related risks, both known and unknown to me, of my participation in this activity. Some of the known risks and precautions are noted below and guests have read and understand these: Pregnant women, children and those with heart disease are not allowed in the hot tub. If you are taking medication of any kind, or being treated for diabetes, low or high blood pressure, strokes, epilepsy, weakened immune system or other conditions, or are a frail elderly person, consult your physician prior to use of the hot tub. It is advised to limit your soak in the hot tub to no more than 15 minutes at a time. If you overheat and faint, you can drown. Shower when you get out to rinse off the hot tub chemicals. Get out if you feel dizzy, overheated, nauseous, or unwell. Stay hydrated before getting into the hot tub. Do not drink alcohol or use drugs before or during hot tub use. Please keep the hot tub clean and clear: Shower before you get in to get off most particles, oils, cosmetics and hair and skin products. No shoes, street clothes, pets or glass containers in or around the hot tub. Do not use soap and shampoo while inside the hot tub. Don’t get in tub if you have open sores or wounds, or cuts, or diarrhea. Close the lid properly when you are finished. Be careful when getting out so you don’t slip and fall.

Guests will not be held responsible for damage caused during their stay (up to a maximum of $1,500) if 1) the damage is accidental, and 2) the damage is reported as soon as possible, and by no later than the check out time. At all other times access is not difficult, but driving on steep mountain roads may make some people nervous. If that sounds like you, it might be better to reserve a property that is not along the top of the Blue Ridge. REMOTE LOCATION: Please be aware that this cabin is a good 20 min drive from the nearest full-service grocery store. If you're looking for seclusion, this is it! But if you prefer being close to stores then this may not be the place for you. SNOW-INS: During the winter, four wheel drive, snow tires/chains, and a car with good clearance are HIGHLY recommended in the event of a snow storm or heavy rain, as there is a good chance that a significant snow storm could restrict access in and out of the cabin. You need to use good judgement as to whether to cancel a trip before it begins or leave the cabin early. BUGS: This is a cabin in the woods--that means there are lots of bugs, especially in the summertime. Even if you are careful some of those bugs will find their way into the cabin. The best way to minimize the number of bugs inside is to keep doors and windows closed at all times. Please also carefully clean up the kitchen every night and securely package up all food. RATTLESNAKES AND BEARS, OH MY: Life is wilder on the mountain, so be prepared for wildlife. Timber rattlesnakes are prevalent along the top of the mountain, so please watch your step. We do not encourage hopping around on rocks. Black bears are known to make appearances, but almost always in the middle of the night and mostly in the spring when they wake from hibernation. They are generally afraid of people and will walk the other direction if they hear you. You will probably see deer and other wildlife during your stay, but please refrain from feeding. SMOKING: Smoking is never allowed inside the cabin. You may smoke outside as long as you clean up after yourself. You may not litter cigarette butts on the deck, in the yard, or anywhere else--butts must go in the trash after they have cooled off. SHEETS: At the end of your stay you will be asked to strip the sheets off the beds that were used and leave the sheets on top of the beds. WAIVER OF LIABILITY FOR USE OF THE HOT TUB: By using the hot tub you agree to follow all house rules associated with it and you release the owner of the property and the manager from all liability relating to injuries that may occur while using the hot tub, regardless of whether injuries are caused by negligence. SEPTIC SYSTEM: This cabin has a septic system. Grease and oil must never be allowed down any of the sink drains. Feminine hygiene products must be thrown away in a trash can and not flushed down a toilet. Never flush solid trash down the toilet or into a sink drain. NO FIREWORKS: Fireworks are not allowed. NO FIREARMS: Guests may not bring firearms or ammunition inside the house. NO ILLEGAL DRUGS: Guests may not possess or consume any illegal drugs on the property, including cannabis.

In inclement weather where road traction becomes difficult, it will be best to park at the top of the driveway and walk down to the house. STEEP ROADS: Please be aware that the roads up to the top of the mountain and the driveway to the property can be very steep. In the snow it can be difficult to access the property. At all other times access is not difficult, but driving on steep mountain roads may make some people nervous. If that sounds like you, it might be better to reserve a property that is not along the top of the Blue Ridge. Steep mountain roads are often what it takes to get incredible views like the ones from this cabin, and those who can manage the drive won't be disappointed! We have a device on-site to measure noise levels (similar to a smoke detector but for noise) - this is triggered and allows us to be in touch to alleviate the situation ideally before police are involved. Failure to abide by county noise ordinance will result in cancelation of stay with no refund. -Security Cameras: We have a doorbell security camera to facilitate remote check ins and a camera above the garage to monitor driveway activity while the property is vacant. -Bugs/Wildlife: Being that this house is remote and in the woods, there are a good amount of bugs, especially in the summer/fall months. There is a hiking trail called Maryland heights if that's something your family would enjoy. The Air b&b offers towels and anything u may need. I recommend some comfortable walking shoes. Other things to note Utilities such as toilet paper and paper towels are complementary and will not be replaced when fully used. If your stay is long, it is suggested you purchase extra. Failure to abide by the county noise ordinance will result in the immediate termination of the stay without refund. Past noise complaints have always come from groups of 20-somethings. If you are booking for a group of people in their twenties and you think your group may want to play loud music at any time then do not book this property or cancel your reservation if you have already booked. Find another place for your trip so you do not have your trip terminated early and without refund. NOISE MONITORING AND SECURITY CAMERA: We use devices that measure volume levels throughout the property (like a smoke detector but for noise) and allow us to respond to noise nuisances before the police are called. The devices are triggered primarily by sustained periods of loud music, not things like loud talking or laughter (which is encouraged!). The devices do not record audio and are 100% privacy compliant. We also have a security camera that records the front door and driveway. This allows us to facilitate remote check in and monitor the property between guests. ACCIDENT FORGIVENESS: Every stay is backed by our accident forgiveness program. Guests will not be held responsible for damage caused during their stay (up to a maximum of $1,500) if 1) the damage is accidental, and 2) the damage is reported as soon as possible, and by no later than the check out time. POSSIBLE BACKGROUND CHECK: We reserve the right to use a third-party to verify the guest's identity and check criminal databases to finalize the reservation. Complete terms regarding the guest verification are provided in the lodging agreement, and can be provided sooner upon request. NO PETS: No exceptions, sorry. Please don't ask whether we can allow your perfectly house-trained, hypoallergenic labradoodle to join because we can't :-) STEEP ROADS: Please be aware that the roads up to the top of the mountain and the driveway to the property can be very steep. In the snow it can be difficult to access the property. At all other times access is not difficult, but driving on steep mountain roads may make some people nervous. If that sounds like you, it might be better to reserve a property that is not along the top of the Blue Ridge. Steep mountain roads are often what it takes to get incredible views like the ones from this cabin, and those who can manage the drive won't be disappointed! SNOW-INS: During the winter, four wheel drive, snow tires/chains, and a car with good clearance are HIGHLY recommended in the event of a snow storm or heavy rain, as there is a good chance that a significant snow storm could restrict access in and out of the house. You need to use good judgement as to whether to cancel a trip before it begins or leave the house early. BUGS: This is a cabin in the woods--that means there are lots of bugs, especially in the summertime. Even if you are careful some of those bugs will find their way into the house. The best way to minimize the number of bugs inside is to keep doors and windows closed at all times. Please also carefully clean up the kitchen every night and securely package up all food. NO SMOKING: Smoking is never allowed inside the house. You may smoke outside as long as you clean up after yourself. You may not litter cigarette butts on the deck, in the yard, or anywhere else--butts must go in the trash after they have cooled off. SHEETS: At the end of your stay you will be asked to strip the sheets off the beds that were used and leave the sheets on top of the beds. WAIVER OF LIABILITY FOR USE OF THE HOT TUB: By using the hot tub you agree to follow all house rules associated with it and you release the owner of the property and the manager from all liability relating to injuries that may occur while using the hot tub, regardless of whether injuries are caused by negligence. SEPTIC SYSTEM: This house has a septic system. Grease and oil must never be allowed down any of the sink drains. Feminine hygiene products must be thrown away in a trash can and not flushed down a toilet. Never flush solid trash down the toilet or into a sink drain. NO FIREWORKS: Fireworks are not allowed. NO FIREARMS: Guests may not bring firearms or ammunition inside the house. NO ILLEGAL DRUGS: Guests may not possess or consume any illegal drugs on the property, including cannabis.

As with any rural or mountain setting, you may occasionally notice insects, spiders, ladybugs, stink bugs, or other seasonal pests, particularly near doors, windows, and outdoor spaces. To help prevent insects and other pests from entering the home, please keep all doors and windows closed when not in use. Neighboring pets, and free-roaming animals such as deer may occasionally be seen on adjacent properties or public areas. To help maintain a clean and comfortable environment for all guests, pets are not permitted on the property. Only service animals that are individually trained to perform tasks for a person with a disability are allowed, in accordance with applicable laws. River conditions available at NOAA website (type in Millville Dam, WV). The space The Nature is a large property designed for your and your family's interpretation. The house is cozy and well-appointed, but the most unique features are the private, floating dock and the large, riverfront lawn. Guests are encouraged to bring their own small canoes, kayaks, river tubes, and lawn games. Drones have been known to make an appearance. You may also hear the train across the river (because sound loves to travel across water). Don’t be alarmed! We absolutely do not tolerate abusive drinking, illegal drugs, or other behavior that may be inconsiderate to our neighbors or the property. The roads are plowed, but not always promptly. 4 wheel drive is highly recommended in the event of a snow storm, and you need to use good judgement as to whether to cancel a trip before it begins or leave the cabin early. WOOD STOVE: You are encouraged to use the wood stove as long as you do so carefully! Always keep the stove door securely shut unless you are actively putting logs inside the stove. The stove can get very hot, so be sure to keep small children away whenever a fire is burning. We do not guarantee there will be firewood or fire starter at the cabin, so it is best to bring your own. The River Country Store 1.5 mi away sells bundles of wood. NO SMOKING: Smoking and vaping are never allowed inside the house. You may smoke or vape outside as long as you clean up after yourself. You may not litter cigarette butts on the deck, in the yard, or anywhere else--butts must go in the trash after they have cooled off. If smoking inside the screened porch, please turn on the fan so that the smoke does not linger and leave a smell. NUMBER OF GUESTS: It is important to have the correct number of guests on the reservation, so please update accordingly if the number changes after you first book. Sleeping 8 people will require 2 people in each queen bed and 1 in each twin bed. If the cabin is filled to capacity, 4 people will be sleeping in the loft and sharing the 1 small bathroom up there. There are only enough plates, glasses, etc. for a maximum of 8 people, and the septic plumbing cannot handle more than 8 people at once. Only registered guests are allowed to use the home, day or night. SHEETS: At the end of your stay, please strip the sheets off the beds that were used and leave the sheets on top of the beds. PARKING: There is room for up to 4 cars in the driveway, but if parking more than 2 cars, you might have to box in other cars by parking behind them. BRING OR RENT YOUR OWN BOATS: We do not offer kayaks or other boats to guests. The Mountain Lake Club on the lake does rent boats from Memorial Day to Labor Day, including at least one pontoon boat. No gas-powered boats are allowed on the lake--only small electric motors are allowed. BUGS AND MICE: We have regular pest control to minimize the presence of bugs and mice. However, this is a cabin in the woods, and that means no matter what you do there will still be bugs, especially in the summertime. Even if you are very careful, some of those bugs will find their way into the house. You must carefully clean up the kitchen every night and securely package up all food so you do not attract bugs or mice. It is rare that mice are spotted inside the cabin, but it has happened before and could happen again. If the sight of a mouse would be too much to bear then you should not book this or any other cabin in the woods. THIN WALLS: Past guests have commented that sound travels easily between floors and between bedrooms. Therefore, this cabin is best suited for families and those with whom you feel very comfortable! In the snow it can be difficult to access the property. At all other times access is not difficult, but driving on steep mountain roads may make some people nervous. If that sounds like you, it might be better to reserve a property that is not along the top of the Blue Ridge. Steep mountain roads are often what it takes to get incredible views like the ones from this cabin, and those who can manage the drive won't be disappointed! The kitchen is fully stocked and wifi is very fast (300 mbps). Wall units provide heat and A/C to the downstairs and bedrooms. The whole house also has a great radiant heating system and wood stove for the winter. The living room has a 65" TV, Roku, DVD player with DVDs and a chest full of games. Outside the home has many wonderful features including a large porch with views of the valley, outdoor furniture, hammock and firepit. Other things to note Do note, our cabin is on a mountain, which means you may see deer, woodpeckers, butterflies, lots of birds, and the occasional bear - be careful about leaving food outside! That said, bugs are everywhere and a part of the natural environment. We have regular pest treatments and try to keep exterior doors and windows closed to prevent nature from coming inside. As a heavily wooded area, allergens are also everywhere and vary seasonally. Please do not bring more than two cars to the house. SNOW-INS: During the winter, there is a good chance that a significant snow storm could restrict access in and out of the cottage. The roads are plowed, but not always promptly. 4 wheel drive is highly recommended in the event of a snow storm, and you need to use good judgement as to whether to cancel a trip before it begins or leave the cottage early. FIREPLACE: You are encouraged to use the fireplace as long as you do so carefully! Always keep the fireplace door securely shut unless you are actively putting logs inside the stove. The fireplace can get very hot, so be sure to keep small children away whenever a fire is burning. We do not guarantee there will be firewood or fire starter at the house, so it is best to bring your own. The River Country Store 1.5 mi away sells bundles of wood. SMOKING: Smoking is never allowed inside the house. You may smoke outside as long as you clean up after yourself. You may not litter cigarette butts on the deck, in the yard, or anywhere else--butts must go in the trash after they have cooled off. SHEETS: At the end of your stay, please strip the sheets off the beds that were used and leave the sheets on top of the beds. PARKING: There is room for up to 4 cars in the driveway, but if parking more than 2 cars, you might have to box in other cars by parking behind them. The garage is not available to guests and will be locked during your stay. BRING OR RENT YOUR OWN BOATS: We do not offer kayaks or other boats to guests. The Mountain Lake Club on the lake does rent boats from Memorial Day to Labor Day. BUGS: This is a cottage in the woods--that means there are lots of bugs, especially in the summertime. Even if you are very careful, some of those bugs will find their way into the house. You must also carefully clean up the kitchen every night and securely package up all food to keep out bugs and mice. We have had to deal with mice before and no one wants that again! SEPTIC SYSTEM: This house has a septic system. Grease and oil must never be allowed down any of the sink drains. Feminine hygiene products must be thrown away in a trash can and not flushed down a toilet. Never flush solid trash down the toilet or into a sink drain. NO FIREWORKS: Fireworks are not allowed. Over 10 wineries within approximately 10 miles & 20 breweries within an approximate 30 minute drive. **Please read entire listing details including "Other Details to Note" before booking** The space This is a split level home that has 2 separate top and bottom units, the other being a basement apartment with a completely separate rear entrance and different locks/keys which is also available to rent at a discount in combination with this unit (check bottom of listing for more details) This space was fully remodeled in 2020 and has high speed internet and dark hardwood floors throughout. It includes 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a living room and an eat in kitchen. There is a small private front deck and a private rear deck that is accessible through the main bedroom. The living room has a couch, love seat and a 55 inch LED television with Roku with options for lots of apps for tv viewing (some will require your own private account log in information) The kitchen features white cabinets with black stainless appliances (dishwasher, stove, microwave and full fridge) a stainless farmhouse sink and granite countertops. Basic cookware and cutlery is provided, along with a toaster, coffemaker and coffee. This is not city living, you may be exposed to possible wild animals and insects. We ask our guests to please be respectful to our neighbors, no loud music or parties. No parking is permitted in the yard or off the street please. There is 1/2 of a mile of dirt/gravel roads that must be traveled to arrive at the property. NOISE MONITORING AND SECURITY CAMERA: We use devices that measure volume levels throughout the property (like a smoke detector but for noise) and allow us to respond to noise nuisances before the police are called. The devices are triggered primarily by sustained periods of loud music, not things like loud talking or laughter (which is encouraged!). The devices do not record audio and are 100% privacy compliant. We also have a security camera that records the front door and driveway. This allows us to facilitate remote check in and monitor the property between guests. ACCIDENT FORGIVENESS: Every stay is backed by our accident forgiveness program. Guests will not be held responsible for damage caused during their stay (up to a maximum of $1,500) if 1) the damage is accidental, and 2) the damage is reported as soon as possible, and by no later than the check out time. POSSIBLE BACKGROUND CHECK: We reserve the right to use a third-party to verify the guest's identity and check criminal databases to finalize the reservation. They are generally afraid of people and will walk the other direction if they hear you. You will probably see deer and other wildlife during your stay, but please refrain from feeding. The upstairs open air loft bedroom, with en suite bathroom, has 2 twin bunk beds, 1 queen bed, and 2 dressers. There is a Pack n Play available for our youngest guests’ sleeping accommodations. Each bedroom offers a large television for guest use. Guest access Guests have use of the entire house and property during their stay via keyless entry. The access code is changed between guests to ensure a safe stay with no unauthorized entry. The unfinished basement will be locked. Other things to note We are located at the top of the mountain but your vehicle does NOT need 4-wheel drive to reach us! The oversized garage fits 1 car, and driveway parking allows for 4 more moderately-sized vehicles. The roads are treated and plowed during winter weather and small amounts of snowfall have not proved to be an issue. If weather forecasts call for large accumulations of snow and/or hazardous conditions and a reservation must be cancelled, a full refund will be given. Local ordinance requires quiet hours at the property from 10pm-6am, no exceptions. We provide fresh linens, towels, a complimentary toiletry set, toilet paper, paper towels, complimentary K-Cups, dish soap and dish detergent, and laundry detergent, among other niceties. Additional guests exceeding the reservation amount will be grounds for immediate eviction. The front and side yards are grassy and relatively flat, but the backyard has a steep slope opening onto the forested mountain. There is no smoking on the premises.
