The Sunflower - Steps to Beach & Reserve

Enjoy a cozy stay in a lake front cottage. Located in Essex, on chebacco lake, this 3 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom home has everything you could need. Fully stocked kitchen, comfortable living space with wifi and a large TV, and a comfy couch overlooking the lake. We have a external monitor with a keyboard and mouse to set up a workstation if needed. A large deck and seasonal dock to hang out on. Close to the ocean if you get tired of the lake. It's an excellent home base on Boston's North Shore. The space This space is small but has a wonderful open feeling and a view you can not beat. An open design, kitchen and living room overlooking the small but pretty lake. There is a work station, a large Smart TV with surround sound and excellent WIFI. The bedrooms are small, the queen size bed is in the room overlooking the lake. The middle room has a cedar closet with a full size bed. The largest bedroom has a full size bed with a twin trundle underneath, a 1/2 bathroom and a cedar closet. It also has a Smart TV. There is a full bathroom at that end of the hallway as well. Outside is a large deck with chairs and a table with an umbrella that can sit 6 - 8 people. Head down the stairs to a small sandy area and then out onto the dock to sit and relax. The dock is seasonal, we try to have it in sometime in May and take it out usually by the end of October. There is a ladder into the shallow water and floats to glide out into deeper waters. The dock is not set up for motor boats. We have 2 standup paddle boards, 2 kayaks and a canoe to use on the lake. We also have an inflatable double kayak and 2 clunky old kayaks. Life jackets are supplied and required for you to use with these water toys. Also available are Adirondack chairs, beach chairs, lots of things to float on. If you are in the mood to explore, 3 bikes tuned up and ready to go. Just please bring your own helmets or wear the ones we have, they are a bit smaller than average but not child size. Again, use at your own risk. There is air-conditioning in the main space and individual units in each bedroom. For cooler days (yes, this is New England) the a/c can be turned into a heating unit and we have a pellet stove stocked and ready to turn on with the twist of a knob. And of course we have a regular adjustable thermostat for the baseboard heat. Kitchen is fully stocked with all you should need. We have a brand new stove duel fuel (gas stovetop, electric oven), refrigerator, microwave, brand new dishwasher, toaster oven, and coffee maker. A crock pot to use if you want and since our freezer doesn't have an automatic ice-maker, we have a portable one if you are love ice in your drinks like I do. We also have a Brita pitcher in the refrigerator although the well water is fine to drink. Guest access There is private parking for up to 4 cars in front of the cottage. Stairs bring you down to a brick patio The house is about 2 miles away from the quaint town of Essex which has a river that heads out to the ocean. We have beaches in several towns nearby. I will leave information about some of the local hotspots but if you want to look up some things in advance there is the "trustees of the reservations" website which has many wonderful places to visit. Other things to note Whether it be summer activities the house is cozy and cool or winter the pellet stove (or other heating options) keep you cozy and warm. The sun rises over the front of the house and sets over the lake (as you see in the cover photo). The home is close to Salem for the wonderful adventures that bring in October. A quick drive to the town of Beverly where you can catch a train or shuttle to downtown Salem.

The fence is older but secure enough for your pets. Guests please know this is an older house inside. The finishes are older and cheaper. We are 1 min from I-95 & within 15 minutes of restaurants, golf course, & wedding venues. Guests that are very sensitive to smell should not book this place The space BEDROOMS: The home has 3 bedrooms total with the ability to sleep 8 guests. Once inside there is a large living room with 2 couches, one of them featuring a sofa sleeper, & a smart Roku TV. The dining area overlooks the living room & seats up to 6 people. There is a dedicated workspace in the sunroom with a full desk and chair. Feel free to move things around if it makes the space better for you! The kitchen is fully equipped with all appliances including a gas stove, oven, refrigerator, & dishwasher. All utensils, cookware, & dishes are provided as well as a regular drip coffee pot & a Keurig with pods available. There is ample counter space & everything you need to cook up a delicious meal during your stay! Downstairs you will find a half bath/laundry room for you to use during your stay. OUTSIDE: There is plenty of room for the kids and dogs to run around in the massive fenced in yard. The fence is older and wobbly but should definitely keep your pets in the yard securely. You will feel like you are on your own little homestead when you walk out the backdoors trees, and a garden right there. As you walk out of the house you will be greeted by a patio with an outdoor dining set. Off to the right there is another patio that is covered with string lights, hammock chairs, & plenty of other seating to enjoy the beautiful weather. Guests again please note that the pictures were all taken professionally and this entire area is nice and gets the job done but if you’re expecting a super luxury backyard this is not it! The house backs up to a tree line so you do not have to worry about noisy neighbors & can enjoy a peaceful countryside retreat. Up front there is plenty of room for parking & the entrance to the home does entail a couple of steps.
