PLEASE NOTE: the drive is very steep and can be slippery when wet. Drive is not plowed during the winter months in the event of snow/ice. If it happens to snow/ice/heavy rain, you must park at the bottom of the drive and walk up the hill (~200 ft). Given the steep nature of the driveway, it is not safe to drive on if snow covered/icy/very wet. Pets are not permitted on the property. No parties or events and six guests maximum (no exceptions). Gas fireplace is only operational from November-March. Cabin (like all properties in the region) is equipped with well water. Cabin is equipped with a water softener. Registration No: 00288 Watchmaker’s Refuge sits on 40 wooded acres in the heart of Hocking County. A short drive from favorite hiking, climbing, horseback riding and Hocking River canoeing, it is the perfect spot for a quiet get-away, retreat, or adventurous outing. This home is blissfully secluded, perfect for enjoying nature. It has a pavilion and two fire pits for outdoor picnics. We’ve shared this beautiful land for over 50 years with native wildlife, and invite you to enjoy it too! The space The cabin was built in 1991 by original owners Len and Patty and the property has been maintained by the same family for over 50 years. The cabin sleeps 6 upstairs, has a full kitchen, dining area and family room, as well as a back porch for relaxing and enjoying a scenic view after a day's recreation. The house has 3 bedrooms and is ideal for up to 6 guests. However, there are extra beds in the basement, and additional guests over two persons can stay for $15/night to cover additional cleaning hours required for trash, laundry and cleaning. Parties and events are not allowed at this property at this time. There is a small dock primarily used as a fishing platform. There is some gear on site, so we recommend guests take inventory upon arrival before purchasing additional gear in town. We are located only 8 miles from Old Man's Cave and 5 miles from Conkle's Hollow and adjacent rock-climbing areas. The region is excellent for cycling, horseback riding, hiking, and climbing. Horseback riding is also available a short distance away. Len and Patty were animal lovers, and this is true of their entire family. We love dogs and dogs love Starlight Lake, but we do ask that if you decide to bring your dog, please be respectful of our neighbors and of the wildlife on the property. Dogs must be pre-approved, and must be kept on property and in your control during your stay. In addition, we do have a $60/pet per stay additional cleaning fee that we must charge per the contract with our cleaning company. This will be added to your total after your booking. Guest access Guests have access to the home and property during their stay. The pavilion and grounds can be used only by guests noted on your Airbnb reservation. If you would like to host additional people not already on your reservation for any reason, it is imperative that you request this through us and receive permission. Guests not claimed on the reservation are grounds for immediate dismissal and forfeiture of deposit. This property is located on a special federal and state conservation area due to rare species on site and the unique climate. We try our best to maintain the natural beauty and integrity of the area and ask guests to “leave no trace” (remove all human trash and debris). Other things to note The drive up to the home is a sylvan 1/2 mile of gravel road, adding to the glorious seclusion. Four wheel drive vehicles are strongly encouraged, and requires in winter and spring. As this property is on protected land, and is used by other humans including small children, as well as pets and the native critters, we do not take kindly to litter on the property of any kind. If cigarette butts, beer bottles, soda cans, fishing tackle, or any number of other kinds of waste on the grounds or pond are left, your party will forfeit their deposit. Taxes are included in the price to cover federal, state, county and township dues. We have a two night minimum stay and a three night minimum stay for holiday weekends. Weekend pricing is Friday/Saturday, Saturday/Sunday, and includes all Federal holidays. There is also a $15/guest fee added for additional guests over 4. There is a $60, non-refundable cleaning fee added for pets after booking. Due to the secluded nature of this property, we have power outages several times/ year when it storms. When this happens, it is not uncommon for it to take 24 hours to one week for the power to come back on. For power outages lasting less than 24 hours, no refunds will be given. For power outages lasting longer than 24 hours, partial refunds will be given on a case by case basis. Please realize these are beyond our control, and our expenses do not diminish as a result of the power loss. We are not compensated in any way by the power company, and still have all the cleaning costs/laundry associated with our guests’ stays. WiFi/TV access- again due to the rural region where we are located, our internet and TV access is often spotty and weak. The storms also affect the internet and tv access. These items are added conveniences, and as such, no refunds will be given for outages of any duration that are beyond our control. Security Cameras : We have a serious of outdoor-only cameras that monitor the entryway, driveway, trails, access points, and lake to prevent trespass/vandalism.

The smart TVs in the great room and basement provide access to all your favorite streaming services (don't forget to bring your account info and passwords), and you can connect your device to the soundbars in both rooms to play your favorite jams. The fully finished basement has a full size air hockey table. Guest access KEYLESS ENTRY - We have keyless entry at the cabin. You will receive a message from us prior to your stay with your passcode for the front door. This passcode will work from 4pm on your check in date to 11am on your check out date. This allows you to arrive on your schedule and immediately make yourself at home. Other things to note KIDS - We know how hard it can be to travel with kids! We do our best to have the driveway plowed when needed, but there could be times when it is not safe to drive. We reserve the right to alter your reservation during these extreme weather conditions. Guests can also change their reservation if needed due to extreme weather conditions without penalty. WI-FI/CELL SERVICE - We have Wi-Fi throughout the cabin, but we have VERY limited cell service. Make sure you screenshot or write down your passcode for the door and the Wi-Fi network/password prior to arriving at the cabin, so you can access this information upon arrival. Once you arrive and connect to Wi-Fi, we suggest that you enable Wi-Fi calling on your cell phone so that you can send and receive calls as normal through the Wi-Fi network. While the Wi-Fi is great most of the time, it is still rural Wi-Fi and there can be intermittent service at times.
