The fully equipped, large eat in kitchen contains seating for 6 at the table, 3 at the bar and a separate seating area. A gas cook top, toaster, hand and regular blender, ice creme maker, hand and stand mixer, Instapot, coffee and Nespresso machine (takes the original pods, 10 Peets pods will be provided along with regular drip coffee, sugar and filters), dishwasher and full fridge/freezer with ice maker are included. A 3 burner Weber gas grill is available for your use on the side porch. The living room has a large wood burning fireplace (starters and wood included) and leather sectional sofa. There is a flat screen TV in the living room. The french doors off the living room open to a screened in porch that seats 6-8 comfortably for lounging or 6 for outdoor dining at the large table. There is a portable speaker in the kitchen to connect to your phone via blue tooth and take on the porch for playing your music. Many board games and cards available for your use along with binoculars and a telescope for bird watching and star gazing. This is where you want to be for a weekend to truly enjoy the seclusion and peacefulness of country life. All 3 bedrooms have queen sized beds and are on the 2nd floor along with the 2nd full bathroom w/shower. There are fans in every room (and central a/c). The stack able washer and dryer is also located upstairs. A tall queen sized inflatable air mattress on site can can accommodate 2 more people. All white towels and white comfortable linens provided. The kitchen, living, and dining area is one large gathering space with access to the large deck facing the lake. You now have the option of cooking meals using PFAS free pots and pans and utensils! There is a charcoal grill, fire pit, a canoe, 2 kayaks, a rowboat, and a stand up board for your use. Most small kitchen appliances are found in the well stocked kitchen. 2 full bathrooms, one on each level. At night, come back and soak in the hot tub or sit by the fire pit under the stars, roast marshmallows, play yard games and watch the fireflies light up. Make some memories! The space Our home is over 3200 sq. ft with 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, full basement, kitchen, dining room and three seasons room. The master bedroom on the second floor has a queen size bed and a walk out balcony with chair and connected bathroom with shower, separate bath tub, and heated bathroom floors. Guest bedroom on the second floor has queen size bed, views of the garden, and a bathroom with shower. Guest bedroom on the main floor has a queen size bed, connected bathroom with shower and bathtub, and the best view of the bog. Closet has extra blankets, pillows, sheet sets, pillowcases, bassinet, pack-n-play and high chair. The office on the main floor comes with a queen size air mattress with self-pump and a futon couch. If you do choose to use the futon, it will need to be move a bit away from the wall so it is able to go down into a bed. When you are in front of the futon, you will lift the frame up and the back will go down and you will hear two clicks. Once you hear the two clicks, you can set the frame back down. There is a desk, chair and a printer. The basement has a modular couch and small couch, bar, pool table, popcorn machine, and connected bathroom with shower. Basement has board games under the Smart TV. Full size kitchen and dining room with coffee bar and Farmhouse table in dining room. There is a drawer by the stove that has spices and a cabinet that has oils and vinegar. There are also baking items. Living room has Smart TV with large sectional. Laundry room has everything you need including laundry pods and dryer sheets. Storage closet on the main floor in the hallway, is stocked with cleaning supplies. Three seasons room provides all the views while sitting in the hot tub, having coffee at the table or relaxing on the couch. Private trail around the bog, fire pit area and hammock in the backyard, a side deck off the three seasons room with grill and front porch with rocking chairs for ideal relaxation! Yard games are available to play in the back yard and can be found in the garage. Guest access Guests can use all amenities on our property including our hot tub, kitchen, fire pits, bbq, office space, laundry area, bar, popcorn machine, and pool table! Other things to note The bedroom on the main floor is the coolest room in the summer. The showers have filters as we have well water. The water cooler provides filtered water to drink although our water has been tested multiple times and is safe to drink and cook with. Extra linens/pillows/blankets are in the closet on the main floor and closet in the guest bedroom upstairs.

This lake house near Buchanan, Three Oaks, and Notre Dame was built in 2018. The home has four bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, two family rooms, a wrap-around deck with a screened in porch on the side of the house, a walkout basement, and a firepit. The house sits on four private acres on a quiet lake, where you'll find beautiful sunrises and a small private dock a variety of water activities. The house has a row boat, a kayak, and rafts to use on the lake. The fish are plentiful as well. The space The sleeping options are: master bedroom with king bed and sofa, lower level bedroom with queen bed, upstairs bedroom 1 with full bed, upstairs bedroom 2 with bunk bed that has full bed on the bottom and single on top, lower level family room with large sofa. There is also a sofa in the main level family room but it is not counted in the listed sleeping spaces. There is a full bathroom on each of the three floors, including a bathtub upstairs and on the lower level.

The CHIARA™ The space When I was 5 and my sister was 9 my parents packed us up into the family station wagon for a road trip to Connecticut to visit a childhood friend of my father’s. My father and I had similar childhoods in that we both spent much of them exploring streams and rivers with lifelong buddies. One of my father’s friends, Henry, would bring along a pen knife and liked to dissect the occasional dead animal they came across. Yeah sure, disturbing, but also captivating… Anyways, he became a renowned surgeon and it was his family home we took the road trip to visit. I remember it taking a good 3 to 4 minute walk from their kitchen, through their sprawling, wide-windowed living room, down a hallway, staying to the left around a long curve to the guest wing. Fully mesmerized by this walk. Henry and his wife Heidi put together a treasure hunt for my sister and I that to this day, over 40 years later, continues to feed my creative motivations. I wasn’t special, we all have these tendencies but the creative adult is the child who survived and I have this experience largely to credit for some of those origins. All at once the experience instilled in me a deep desire to have my mind blown by discovery and to arrive there as efficiently as possible. Growing up since then everything else is measured against the grandeur of that treasure hunt and continues to be. I’ve heard it said that the problem with dreamers is that they’re usually not doers but as I looked around at my peers as the years came, I saw I held the advantage of both imagining and manifesting - and I could trace it back to that single treasure hunt; a time of wide wonder but with the ticking clock of gripping a hot treasure map in my hands. I’d imagine this philosophy impacts the young more but I could be wrong about age and creative impact so I’ll go on hoping. When I first finished The Catcher in the Rye, I set it down and said, “Well alright that’s exactly what I want to be so how do I do that?” That is; to become that entity that preserves innocents. I’ll take it one step further and attempt to inspire a lifetime of ferocious creativity and curiosity. 	 It’s a greatest hope that we’re creating and releasing a group of gladiator-level, exploratory creatives into our future world, and La Chiara is the best machine I can build to produce that end. If we can inspire a lifetime of hyper curiosity we’ll have done our part. So for the price of your booking there’s what I consider a damn good chance you’re instilling in whomever you bring, a lifetime of ferocious curiosity. And it’s my claim that the incredible power of a single treasure hunt has that capability. Somewhere between an artist’s working studio, a rotating museum wing, outdoor grounds for sculpture, and a wonderspace for creating art yourself, you can find our beloved inn, La Chiara™ perched on the beautiful downtown bluff of Buchanan, Michigan. La Chiara™ is a vertically split inn duplex that we’ve built into 2 lodgings which includes our Innkeeper’s Quarters. This listing is a separate postal address and is an entire half of the vertically split duplex; the upstairs and downstairs units combined, which sleeps 6 in queen beds or 8 on the foldout King. I’m happily available to help with any issues that arise as your innkeeper as I live on premises with my wife Katrina and daughter, Chiara, year-round. Boasting over two dozen works of art in media including photography, water color, sculpture, digital prints, laser, woodwork, printmaking, and repurposing, La Chiara™ aims to serve as an expanding, multi-faceted lodging and recreation wonderspace. In addition to art, there is great kayaking on the St. Joseph river. La Chiara™ is located 1.2 miles from the Buchanan dam which lends itself to a spectacular downstream paddle or float from Buchanan to the Berrien Springs dam. Outdoor activities include laying in the hammock, walking the grounds for sculpture and art, chilling on the porch swing, enjoying the breeze on your private balcony, creating original outdoor art yourself, corn hole, bocce, your custom treasure hunt and the Plane Lounge. The Plane Lounge is a great place for coffee, wine, beer, provision or even an aviation-themed cocktail (alcohol and provisions not supplied). The Plane Lounge is a repurposed 1966 Mooney M20 fuselage - generally open from dawn till 12pm. Mooney aircraft are part of a family of piston-powered, four-seat, propeller-driven, general aviation aircraft, all featuring low wings and tricycle gear, manufactured by the Mooney International Corporation. Here at La Chiara™ however, the Plane Lounge is known for its exposed guts of tubes that now echo adventure with a Bluetooth speaker, a Stanley cocktail shaker set, LEDs, and a mini-fridge with some beverages to get you started. Feel free to stock the mini fridge accordingly for your stay. We hope you find the Plane Lounge fruitful as a refreshing ambiance for conversation and ideas. La Chiara™ is located 25 minutes from Lake Michigan and 21 minutes to The University of Notre Dame. One of our favorite aspects of living in Buchanan is access to the public kayak/boat launch 1.1 miles away that is free to use and is also free to park. Safety for you, us, the surrounding community (most especially the Elementary School and our neighbors) is paramount. We’re honored and extraordinarily grateful to unofficially partner with the Buchanan Police Department to assist in making the neighborhood the safest possible drop-off and pick-up location for children that we can during the calendar school year as well as through their Summer programming. We have five outward facing security cameras in use: at the front doors, side windows and overlooking the Courtyard Plane Lounge. We do not allow smoking cigarettes. There is no smoking cigarettes inside, and no smoking cigarettes outside anywhere on the property. It’s not uncommon to see an officer parked in a corner of the property so they can more easily direct school traffic and we consider ourselves very fortunate to be in a position to greater safety efforts for the Elementary School population. Taking its name from our daughter, La Chiara™ is as much of a creative, de-risked, development tool as we could design to guide our daughter through the adventures of entrepreneurship; from the janitorial to the curatorial art direction, and finance. Chiara does everything with me from properly cleaning the bathrooms, to supplying the art program. She currently has 5 works of art on display and from what I’ve gathered, we should expect surprise installations. Our family is on premises and very grateful to host you as Innkeepers. We believe strongly in remediation if any issues arise. In fact, our policy for any issue that arises is for me to handle it asap, but I also share every communicated issue with my daughter Chiara. It's actually a great policy for life too; if something is wrong, what words would you choose knowing a little girl will hear them and do her best to find a solution? Our family moved here in 2021 and it’s easy for us to see why Buchanan, Michigan was named, “Nicest Place in America 2020.” We truly hope to be a lit doorway showcasing Buchanan and adding to its growing fascination. Kick back & relax at Lost Lodge, a spacious, very private luxury home on 10 acres of woods, groomed trails, & a 5-acre peaceful lake. Slip into the hot tub with a glass of wine & enjoy lakeviews from the expansive deck. When the sun sinks low, gather at the firepit to relive your memories of the day. You'll be near wineries & U-pick farms, minutes from Lake Michigan's finest beaches & quaint lake towns full of boutiques & restaurants. Notre Dame is 30 mins away & Redbud Motocross is 5 mins away. The space Lost Lodge has two bedroom suites with Rested Pillow king-size mattresses, one upstairs, one down. Both have full en suite baths with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and hand soap--plus lots of soft, plush towels. The master bath has a whirlpool tub and shower, while the second bedroom suite has a tub/shower combo and a separate sitting room overlooking the water. Each bedroom also has a Samsung 46" smart TV to watch late night movies, a JBL bluetooth speaker to stream your favorite music, and a floor fan for guests who like to sleep with white noise. We provide a nice selection of pillows to choose from, luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets, and cozy, fluffy comforters and blankets. You'll enjoy gathering in our great room with a Samsung 65" smart TV where you can connect any streaming service you use. Perhaps you'll play our house guitar and other small instruments for a fun night of sing alongs! The great room has a game table where you can play one of the many fun games from our fully-stocked game closet. The cozy library is a terrific place to enjoy coffee with the sunrise, while bird watching or perusing the bookshelves. You may catch sight of some resident wildlife as well. Later, gather everyone around the dining table to do some wine tasting or to enjoy a meal. The kitchen is well-appointed with high quality appliances and Viking and All-Clad pans. We offer four ways to make your morning coffee. The Keurig machine takes either individual pods (we supply some to get you started) or you can brew an entire pot of drip coffee. We also offer a french press and a Chemex pour over with a Fellow hot water kettle. You also have full access to the laundry room with a washer, dryer, ironing board and iron. We'll supply a few detergent pods, dryer sheets, and stain remover. The upper deck is where you'll relax in a large hot tub with a view of the lake and woods. We'll provide beach towels for use with the hot tub or for heading to the beach. The paved, lower terrace has a large fire pit (wood provided) with marshmallow roasting sticks. You'll find corn hole, CanJam, a frisbee golf hole, a golf chipping green, and other outdoor games, as well as a gas grill and tools for your use. The lake is stocked with large mouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish. Feel free to use our fishing poles and tackle for catch and release only. Lost Lodge is located on a quaint country road that Chicago Magazine called a "must-see". We think it's especially amazing in the fall color season. Our road can be a little muddy in the spring and snowy in the winter, but it is always passable. We also keep the lane, the driveway, and the sidewalks cleared during snow season. The house is hidden behind Little Beaver Lake, down a 1/4 mile, winding lane through the woods. There is only one other house on the lake and it can't be seen when the leaves are on the trees. The nature trails are for your private use, but remember that there are deer, foxes, raccoons, and rabbits who like to share the trails with you. Bird watching is amazing here...we regularly see bald eagles, ospreys, many varieties of hawks, a long-time resident Great Blue Heron we call "Big Blue", a kingfisher we affectionately call "Little King", and many other fascinating waterfowl. You'll find bird watching books and binoculars here to help you check some birds off your list. Families of deer will wonder through the yard to say hello on a regular basis. Getting married in Harbor Country? Brides will love to get ready in the master bedroom at the Lodge. There is a large walk-in closet in both bedrooms to accommodate wedding gowns or bridesmaids' gowns. Lost Lodge is also a perfect spot for wedding guests from out of town. We are only minutes from several of the most popular wedding venues in our area. Some other things to keep in mind: we have well water and a septic system. The water has been tested and is safe to drink. We've also installed a full-house water filter and water softener to give some extra purification and good taste to the water. The septic system is very sensitive and we kindly ask you to refrain from flushing anything but toilet paper in the toilets. There is a beautiful fireplace in the great room, but no fires are allowed in it. However, feel free to light the candles in it for some warm ambiance. We love children, but the home is not childproofed and really isn't appropriate for children under 16. Absolutely no parties are allowed and no more than eight people can be at the Lodge at any one time, while only four may spend the night. Unfortunately, because of allergies we can't allow any pets. Absolutely no smoking inside the house or on the decks or porch. Guest access You have full access to and exclusive use of the entire 10 acre property and home. You will be provided with a unique-to-you code to allow you to enter Lost Lodge at your convenience during self check-in. We are located very nearby if you need anything at all, but we also recognize that you are on vacation to relax, so we would never show up unannounced or intrude in any way on your privacy.
