Located across the street from the middle fork of the South Platte River in Placer Valley, it's just 13 miles (30min) to Breckenridge and is a base for hiking, fishing, skiing, or just enjoying nature. The space OUR STORY Our family fell in love with Placer Valley as we took day trips to the mountains to hike, fish and ski. We dreamed of having a place in the mountains that we could go to after a full day of adventure. Our dream came true when this cozy cabin became ours. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do! GREAT ROOM Enjoy the open concept kitchen and living area with gas fireplace, Starlink Satellite Wi-Fi, corner library, games and mountain views. KITCHEN Fully equipped kitchen with full size appliances, both pour over and drip coffee makers, teapot, microwave, toaster-oven, wine glasses, plastic cups for hot tub, ceramic dishes, kitchen knife set, and plenty of pots and pans. BEDROOMS Two bedrooms (one main floor and one upstairs) with king size DreamCloud mattresses, percale sheets and black-out roman shades and blinds. TV Room has an extremely comfortable, full-sized, Koala brand pull-out couch. BATHROOMS One and a half baths. Main floor bathroom has tub and shower with shampoo, conditioner and bodywash provided. Half bath is upstairs just outside the upstairs bedroom. Fluffy white towels, wash cloths, and black make-up cloths included. HOT TUB We invite you to enjoy the large hot tub on the back patio with views of the surrounding forest. Striped hot tub towels provided. Please enjoy the hot tub at your own risk. WASHER & DRYER Feel free to use the washer and dryer. There are laundry pods and dryer balls in the pantry above the towels. IMPORTANT DETAILS ~ High Altitude (10,600ft). Please make sure to educate yourself about high altitude sickness. Drink PLENTY of water. Alcohol and caffeine make it worse. Some guests have found that all-natural altitude medication such as “Altitude RX” or MTN Ops “Solitude” help. ~AWD/4WD and snow tires are recommended in winter and spring (SEP-MAY). The approach to the cabin is on level ground and is off a county-maintained road, but winter storms are unpredictable and there are sometimes extreme winter conditions. HOUSE RULES •	No Smoking: Smoking or vaping is not allowed inside the cabin. If you smoke outside, please dispose of waste properly. •	Hot Tub: Enjoy the hot tub, but please keep it clean. NO GLASSWARE OR FOOD in or around the hot tub. Cover it when not in use to maintain heat. •	Pets: Two pets up to 50lbs each are allowed with pet fee. We ask that you keep your pets off the furniture, including the beds. Dog dishes and a dog bed are available. •	Quiet Hours: Respect our neighbors by keeping noise levels low after 10 PM. •	Trash: Place all trash in the provided bin outside. Bears are common in Alma, so secure all waste tightly. •	No Parties: The cabin is for registered guests only. LOCAL RECOMMENDATIONS Alma (4 miles) is small, but has a few places you MUST try during your stay: •	South Park Saloon: Great for pizza or burgers and a beer or cocktail, the South Park Saloon is a casual dining spot with a historic feel. Their outdoor patio is perfect for sunny days. •	Bristlecone Bakery: A French-style bakery and absolute hidden gem for pastries and artisan breads – Bristlecone Bakery is a MUST. •	The Black Kettle Coffee Shop: A coffee from The Black Kettle Coffee Shop goes great with a pastry from the Bristlecone Bake Shop across the street and makes the perfect breakfast. •	Otto’s Food Cart: Otto’s food truck might have the best chicken sandwich in Colorado. They also do salads and breakfast burritos. •	Al-Mart: Al-Mart is your local general store that has anything you may have forgotten, including a great selection of groceries. LOCAL ADVENTURES •	Public Land: We are lucky to have state land across the street along the middle fork of the South Platte River. Feel free to follow the trails along the river. The beaver ponds are great for catching small brook trout on dry flies in the evening. •	Montgomery Reservoir (1.7mi): Although there is no wading or floating, Montgomery Reservoir is a great spot for fishing or picnicking and has some incredible views. •	Magnolia Mill: Magnolia Mill is one of the few remains left from the Town of Montgomery (now submerged under the reservoir), a mining town from the mid-1800’s that housed over 1,000 people. The mill is a short easy hike from the west side of Montgomery Reservoir and is a great place to see a little Colorado history while spending some time in nature. •	Kite Lake (9.5mi): A 30-minute drive west of Alma, Kite Lake sits at the base of three 14,000-foot peaks and is a spectacular place to explore. $8.00 cash day-use fee. Lake Emma is a 1.5-mile round trip hike from the Kite Lake Parking area. It is a bit of a scramble for the last 100 yards, but it absolutely worth the hike. Remember to start early as afternoon storms are common. •	Breckenridge (13mi): Hit the slopes in the winter or go explore the shops downtown. There are plenty of options for everyone in Breckenridge. We like Downstairs at Eric’s, a casual dinner spot that has an arcade to enjoy as you wait for your table. •	Additional Recommendations: If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. SAFETY •	Wildlife: Moose occasionally pass through the front and backyard on their way to the willows around the river across the street. You might be lucky enough to meet Gertrude, our resident moose, and although she’s not disturbed by the presence of people, please do not approach her. Even though we have named her, she is still a wild animal. •	Fire Safety: No indoor open flames or outdoor fires. Please keep blankets and clothing off of the baseboard heaters. Please park next to the trash cans. ✅Please note we are at almost 11,000 ft of elevation so if you have any health concerns please advise your doctor before making the trip. ✅Pets: No more than 2 dogs per reservation. They must be house-trained and well behaved. There is an additional $50 per pet cleaning fee per reservation. There is a $100 fee for pets that were not registered prior to check-in. We have a reliable plow service but plowing isn’t immediate, we are on the rotation after snowfall is 4 inches. Please plan accordingly. I highly recommend renting a vehicle through Turo and I am happy to specifically recommend a vehicle I personally rent when I fly to El Alma. A Jeep Wrangler works well in my opinion. *Elevation* Alma, Colorado is proudly the USAs highest incorporated town sitting at over 10,000 feet. El Alma A-frame is also at this elevation. What you can expect varies for everyone, but slight headaches, getting easily winded and some mild sleep disruption is common. My best recommendation is to HYDRATE as much as possible and take some Advil and maybe an extra nap. That usually does the trick. *Connecting with Your Soul* Part of the beauty of El Alma A-Frame is that while super close to world class resorts, it's also peacefully in the middle of a quiet valley. We hope you understand that while the cabin is adorable and cozy, it is still a cabin from the 1970s in the woods. What this means is: sensitive septic system, well water (delicious and icy cold), no trash pickup. We don't expect our guests to do anything out of the ordinary except be conscious of these things. Don't over-use water, do not flush anything but toilet paper, and keep all your trash inside so that bears and other wildlife are not tempted to visit. The cleaners will remove trash upon check-out. The cabin is older, and imperfect and that’s what makes it special :)

Although you'll feel tucked away in the mountains, you're only about 25 minutes from Breckenridge's world-class skiing, dining, shopping, and year-round outdoor recreation. Alma is 7 minutes with restaurants and a small grocery store. FairPlay is 15 minutes away with a full grocery store, historic downtown and restaurants. It's the perfect balance of privacy and convenience. Other things to note High Elevation: The cabin is located at nearly 11,000 feet above sea level. If you're traveling from a lower elevation, it's normal to feel the effects of the altitude. We recommend drinking plenty of water, taking it easy on your first day, and limiting alcohol until you've had time to acclimate. Spending extended periods in the hot tub can also make the effects of altitude feel stronger. Most guests have a wonderful experience, but if you have a medical condition that could be affected by high elevation, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider before your trip. Great access to fishing, hiking, skiing, biking, 4x4, or simply take a walk along the South Platte river that flows through the middle of the neighborhood in the valley. We are located in Placer Valley, a subdivision of Alma and only 12 miles to Breckenridge. During the winter, it is likely that there will be snow and ice on the roads. The roads are well-maintained, but this is just a part of driving in the Colorado mountains. We cannot offer refunds due to snow or ice on the road. Our wifi is Starlink. It is the best in the area. We have no problem using wifi or zoom. Cell phone service may be spotty in the area depending on your carrier. This cabin is in one of the highest elevation towns in Colorado and altitude sickness is possible. Please be cautious, acclimate if necessary, and stay hydrated. The stars are incredible here, please anticipate that there will not be street lamps in our neighborhood. Check Out Procedures: To be transparent, we want guests to know what they will be asked to do upon check out. We only ask guests to do the bare minimum required for the place to be left safe and sanitary. This means we ask guests to do their own dishes, leave the bagged up trash just inside the front door, and leave the house locked and all 4 thermostats at 60 degrees. Located 13 miles south of Breckenridge. We are surrounded by world class skiing, hiking, climbing, mountain biking, white water rafting, off road jeepin', and fly fishing. The space This cabin sits on roughly an acre of land. The property is surround by tall evergreens & aspens. There are few neighbors and traffic, as this property is located on a dead end road. The 3 Bedroom/2 Bath house can accommodate 6 guests. There are two parking spots located at the base of the cabin. Once parked guests will walk up roughly 20 stairs to access the front door of the cabin. The front door is located in the basement. Walk inside and to the left you will find a small living area with a couch and TV, to the right is an area to set your ski/board equipment. Continue on back and you will find bedroom #1 to your left(Queen bed), bathroom #1 to your right and straight back is bedroom #2 with a twin bed. On the main level of the house guests will find a beautiful sitting area with a wood burning stove and big windows with mountain views and plenty of natural light. The main level also holds the kitchen & dining area. Plenty of seating. Walk past the kitchen and you will find bedroom #3 on the left (Queen bed) and a full bathroom on the right. Continue on back and there is a washer/dryer. Head up to the loft and there is a another seating area with a couch, TV and twin trundle bed. Lots of kids toys too! A Jeep Wrangler works well in my opinion. *Elevation* Alma, Colorado is proudly the USAs highest incorporated town sitting at over 10,000 feet. The Chalet is also at this elevation. What you can expect varies for everyone, but slight headaches, getting easily winded and some mild sleep disruption is common. My best recommendation is to HYDRATE as much as possible and take some Advil and maybe an extra nap. That usually does the trick. *Connecting with Your Soul* Part of the beauty of Placer Valley Chalet is that while super close to world class resorts, it's also peacefully in the middle of a quiet valley. We hope you understand that this is a high alpine environment. What this means is: sensitive septic system, well water (delicious and icy cold), no trash pickup. We don't expect our guests to do anything out of the ordinary except be conscious of these things. Don't over-use water, do not flush anything but toilet paper, and keep all your trash inside so that bears and other wildlife are not tempted to visit. The cleaners will remove trash upon check-out. The chalet is modern and cozy, but we still are deep in the mountains.

One side of the garage is available for guest use and the roadways are maintained by the town of Alma, but 4-WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES ARE recommended for getting around from November through May due to the frequent snow storms in this area.   Park County is an activity center of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, it's a great "Base Camp!" If you can think of an outdoor activity, you will probably find it within 10-20 minutes of the cabin. It is at no additional cost to you but there is a form you will need to fill out that they will send you on our behalf. The Aplenglow Lodge is 15 miles to Breckenridge and world class skiing, 10 minutes from downtown Alma, but truly feels like an off-the-beaten-path mountain enclave. A remote work dream location with 4 desks, fast Starlink internet, and breathtaking views from every window. Newly renovated with new outdoor hot tub, new kitchen, new beds and furniture. Property backs up to national forest and numerous trail heads. (Find Alpenglow underscore Lodge on insta for more details) The space Stunning chalet on 1.5 acres of land that borders national forest. We purchased the property in July of 2022 and have lovingly renovated the home. Newly refinished hardwood floors, new cabinets, new white granite countertops, new sinks and faucets, new outdoor hot tub, new beds/mattresses, and new living room furniture. 3 bedrooms. The master is a very large room on the second floor with a king size mattress, a day bed with 2 twin mattresses, leather couch, walk in closet, and private balcony with table, chairs, and breathtaking sunrises (with blackout curtains for those that like to sleep in). 2 bedrooms downstairs with closets, 1 king size mattress and 1 queen size mattress, blackout curtains, and a shared balcony. The Loft has a pull-out couch with memory foam mattress, workout bench, 3 yoga mats, Bow Flex adjustable weights up to 60 lbs, and a work desk. There are 4 desks, 2 in the master bedroom, 1 in the loft, and 1 in the downstairs bedroom. 2 full bathrooms, 1 upstairs (shower) and 1 downstairs (tub/shower). Each bedroom has an east facing balcony and the spacious living room has a large west facing outdoor deck with outdoor grill. The new (2022) outdoor hot tub is perfect for catching the sunrise and sunset alpenglow on the surrounding 14'ers (Mts. Bross, Cameron, and Lincoln). Large dining room table comfortably seats 8 guests. We have 2 small children so the home has baby gates, travel high chair, games, children's toys, a pack n play, and kid plates/cups/plasticware. The home sits at 11,300 feet, so it is not for the faint of heart! Most people have no trouble with the altitude, but just something to keep in mind (downtown Breckenridge is approximately 9,500 ft, and downtown Alma 10,500 ft). The home sits near the top of Placer Valley and is accessible by two well-maintained gravel roads. The driveway and roads are plowed after snow, however, you will need a 4WD or AWD vehicle to access in the winter and spring. Of note, this is our second-home. We spend a ton of time at the home and rent it out sparingly. We maintain the rental ourselves (no rental management company) and live in Denver. We will try our best to ensure you have a wonderfully comfortable stay with all the assistance you require, however, just keep in mind that we live 90+ minutes away and we will not be able to be as hands on as a hotel or some professional Airbnb's. This 2018 built home is located in the heart of Historic Alma, CO. The highest incorporated town in North America! Walk to the South Park Saloon, shops or start your hike right out the back door. Just 15 miles from Colorado's world-class Breckenridge ski resort. Copper Mountain, Keystone, and A-Basin are also less than 50 minutes away. Our home is an eclectic mix of new and old. Built on the footprint of an 1880s miner's cabin, it carries the past into the present. The space You'll find in-floor radiant heat and a cozy gas log stove make for warm nights with no hassle. There are 2 bedrooms, both with a queen beds, and 2 baths. The downstairs bathroom has a walk-in shower, and heated floor. The upstairs has a deep soaking tub with a shower. The main living area is open concept. The living room has a TV with a DVD player. Wifi is also available. The gorgeous kitchen is equipped with a gas range, microwave, dishwasher and everything you need to cook up some great meals. Enjoy our mini library that includes movies, games, and books including local history and information about local activities. If you bring your dog, we ask that you don't leave them unattended. This trail will lead to a seating area where you can relax and listen to the sound of the creek.  The house is one side of a duplex. The deck and back yard fire pit are shared with guests staying at the other units on the property. Most guests find the scenic drive part of the true Colorado mountain experience — but proper winter vehicles are essential. Please plan accordingly when renting vehicles, as we are unable to offer refunds due to road conditions or vehicle-related access issues. The road is paved until you reach Placer Valley, where it becomes gravel for the final 3.5 miles to the cabin. The west side of the valley can be bumpy in dry conditions — drive slowly and enjoy the views. Connectivity There is no traditional cell service at the cabin. However, most guests are able to make calls and send texts using WiFi calling via our fast Starlink internet. A landline is also provided for guest use. Safety Notes The cabin is not childproof. Guests are responsible for supervising children at all times. Please note there are open stair risers and no protective guards around the wood-burning stove. Altitude The cabin sits at approximately 11,100 feet. Some visitors may experience altitude-related symptoms. We recommend staying well hydrated, taking it easy upon arrival, and consulting your physician prior to travel if you have concerns. Prescription medicine is available that can really help. Additional Notes We do not provide a grill due to altitude-related performance issues.

There's a hot tub, an outdoor fire pit, an indoor fireplace and a hammock grove complete with camp blankets and pillows. The space Warm and inviting, this cozy cabin has it all! Perfect for groups from 4-8 people, the space features two separate "living" areas, three queen-size beds (plus queen size sleeper sofa) and an office area for working-from-home. Guests will enjoy flannel comforters, Pendleton blankets and terrycloth robes meant for maximum coziness. Although close to both Breckenridge and Fairplay, the cabin sits on nearly an acre of beautiful aspen and evergreen trees, giving you the privacy and seclusion you're seeking in a mountain getaway.
