The space This attractive house has stunning ocean views in three directions, one north to the inlet of the Navarro River, and to the east are the coastal mountains. It is an easy coastal drive to charming historic Mendocino Village and in another direction to Navarro Redwood State Park and beyond to the many wineries of Anderson ValIey. Try some Pinot Noir at one of the daily wine tasting events. Stop along Hwy. 128 to hike in the majestic redwood forest and find secluded warm water "swimming holes" upstream on the Navarro River. Throw a frisbee or build a driftwood fort at the Navarro River Beach one mile north. The house comfortably accommodates friend and family groups as well as couples. With a living room, game room and decks on two levels there is space for folks to gather together or spread out to read and just stare at the ocean. Two comfortable couches centered around a wood burning fireplace make the living room a favorite spot to stretch out and read around a good fire at night. A ceiling fan cools the area at the end of hot days. There is a small but mighty sound system and some music we like. Bring your own CDs too. The dining room table is a great place to play card or board games. The master bedrooms and game room have cable TV. Books and movie DVDs are stocked. The kitchen is well equipped for cooks - starting with a gas stove, many pots and pans, drip and french press coffee pots, Crate and Barrel melamine dishes, cookbooks, and stainless steel wine cups. Cook fresh caught crab (in season) or salmon from Noyo Harbor in Fort Bragg. Use our cooking herbs from the plants out front. Sip your coffee or wine at the full table on the upper deck or bistro table on the lower deck. Outdoor tables are stored in winter due to storms. The game room has a convertible foosball table and electronic dart game as well as wall mounted TV. Outside the game room on the lower deck is a chiminea (where you can roast marshmallows) or the hot tub for a good soak. There are 4 bedrooms. Queen and full sized beds are finished with foam or featherbed toppers and then with quality quilts. The master bedroom on the lower level boasts a canopy bed. Vintage plein aire oil seascapes hang on the walls, and sliding glass doors take you to the deck. In the lower level bathroom is a coffee maker. Brew your own pot and sip coffee on the lower deck in the morning. The upper master bedroom includes a lovely art nouveau lamp and ceiling fan. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house (with the exception of a storage room) and front and back yards. The yard to the east has a picnic table while the lower deck includes flower box and an herb garden while rosemary plants ring an expanse of colorful ice plant in the yard to the west. A bench can be found on the western most promontory. Other things to note There is wireless internet access with average download speeds about 15 Mbs. Most guests have cell phone reception. Although El Nino is helping, water is precious in California, and we ask guests to conserve water use to save our well.

Fireplaces are decorative only due to insurance restrictions. The space Welcome to La Puerta del Mar, perched above the mouth of the Navarro River where it meets the Pacific Ocean. On nearly two private acres just a few miles south of Mendocino, this spacious home is ideal for up to six people traveling together, or for a romantic getaway just for two. Time slows down as you watch and listen to the waves, and after a soak in the six-person hot tub, you'll sleep like a baby. Or you can warm up in the Finnish wet/dry sauna -- yes, we have a sauna! If you can't quite leave work behind or want to stream a movie or two, we've got super-fast internet service (from Further Reach). We have two televisions; Living Room and Master Bedroom. Your four-legged friends are welcome at our house, and we have a huge fenced area for them to enjoy. Please let us know you're bringing your dog. For those traveling with little ones, Pack and Play and kid-friendly dinnerware. From your home away from home, you'll have easy access to Mendocino, beaches (Navarro Beach is less than five minutes away by car, with plenty of free parking), wineries, parks, and cute Northern California towns. Situated on a cliff overlooking the Navarro River, the beach, and the ocean, this retreat provides a relaxing, naturally pleasing sanctuary and a perfect base for exploring the local area or remote work. Navarro Landing

Riventides with its expansive views of river, ridge, and ocean provides a perfect North Coast vacation spot. This large, delightful house with its extended grounds and many special places can gracefully accomodate up to 8 in three bedrooms. The space Riventides sits atop peaceful Navarro Ridge overlooking the mouth of the Navarro River where it flows into the Pacific. The house has extended river and ocean views as well as a panoramic view of the forested ridges on both sides of the Navarro. We recently bought this dramatic yet serene dwelling with its two acres of land. We were enchanted by its views and its unusual combination of classical, creative, and rustic features. They all come together in what one friend characterized as “a rustic palace.” The house is set back from the road by a long driveway with an adjacent grassy meadow. At the end of the drive, open a small gate and step into a delightful park-like courtyard reminiscent of those found in European country houses, complete with fountain. Enter the long foyer of the house and walk back to the living room, with its soaring cathedral ceiling, stone fireplace, and vaulted windows that beautifully showcase the ridge on the far side of the river. A balcony overlooks the living room from the second floor. To the right is the extended kitchen-dining area with river and ocean views, a high slanted roof, and a row of doors that open to the long covered back porch and generous backyard. A number of vintage treasures have been incorporated into the house. The broad-board pine floors in the living and dining room hail from an old Singer sewing machine factory, the marble island counter top in the kitchen from the Berkeley Public Library, and the double doors at the front entrance are from a former Fort Bragg mercantile store. These harmonize well with the more contemporary elements, such as the industrial-style metal kitchen countertops and the stainless appliances. The first floor has a large master bedroom suite with a huge spa/tub, enclosed tile shower, and an adjacent outdoor hot tub. There is also an ample guest room with attached bath. The second floor bedroom can sleep up to four with its bunk bed (lower double/upper single) and additional single bed. The second floor bathroom has an unusual tub/shower that is likely to delight. Situated in Albion, Riventides is near many fine restaurants and only 8 miles from the town of Mendocino and its shops. Because it is very close to the junction of CA Route 128 and CA Highway 1, it also provides a wonderful base for experiencing the riveting beauty and other attractions all up and down the North Coast. We named the property “Riventides,” inspired by Tolkien’s “Rivendell,” a place of beauty, comfort and rejuvenation for Hobbits and Elves. We hope that with its open views of river, sea, ridges, and sky, its comfort, and its peaceful yet energizing ambiance, Riventides will serve a similar purpose for our guests! We are lucky to have a very helpful when needed but otherwise completely unintruisve caretaker for the property, who lives in an apartment over the detached garage. The space The house is located on the bluff overlooking the Albion bridge and cove. It has visibility up the Albion river to the East as well. Even though it is in the village, the space is very private (you can walk around the block to say hi to friendly neighbors though). The main floor has two bedrooms with queen beds, two bathrooms, a combined living room and dining room and kitchen. Everything has been newly remodeled with and new hardwood floors installed. You'll be able to walk out onto the back deck for amazing views, or hang out on the covered porch for a cozy spot. You can get upstairs via a spiral stairs from the main space, or some steps up to the smaller upstairs deck. This deck faces west for beautiful sunsets. The upstairs is one large bedroom and office. The Redwood House is private with plenty of room to explore on this peaceful property surrounded by nature. Vaulted ceilings, 1 bedroom with queen bed, & two sleeping lofts ( accessed by ladders only) plus 1 full bathroom. This quaint home is ideal for a young family or one couple. It will give you the sense of what Mendocino really should feel like. It's comfortable and rustic & waiting for you to partake. PLEASE note : We allow dogs only. There is a $35 per dog per night charge. 2 max The space This house has one bedroom on the ground floor with a queen bed. There are two separate sleeping lofts, both accessed by ladders. The sleeping lofts are ideal for young adults or children ages 5-18. If your group is all adults and more than 2-4 people this house is probably not ideal. Guest access There are a few steps up on a deck that leads to the front door. There is a step up into the living area. Other things to note A few additional things to note about the house & property : 1. This cabin has one bedroom one bath with a sleeping loft with two twins. The loft is ideal for children ages 6 to 15. 2. This cabin is on a 7.5 acre a property that has other rental cottages. 3. We have a large soaking tub in the bathroom but the jacuzzi jets are not operable. We were sure to mark the amenity as a bathtub, not a jacuzzi because of this. 4. The kitchen is small and quirky. If you plan to do a lot of cooking in house, this might not be the best rental house for the occasion. 5. A note about pets : we allow dogs only. We love cats and other animals too, but we are not able to accommodate them in this rental house. -There is a $35 per dog per night charge with a maximum of two dogs per reservation. -We ask guests to keep their pets on a leash at all times while outside on the property. -Please be sure to pick up doggy waste and dispose of it in the trashcans outside the house. -We also ask that pets are not left unattended or tied up at the house. Owned by four best friends, it's our shared dream come true that you experience all the magic Mendo has to offer. The space Disclaimers: The propane fireplace is not currently working. We are on a waitlist for its repair. In the meantime, there are four efficient space heaters to warm up the cottage. The water pressure in the shower can be finicky if water is running elsewhere in the cottage, like in the kitchen or laundry. Sometimes the breaker can be tripped with concentrated power-usage. The process to restore power is quick and easy but requires walking outside.

About the Navarro House: Built in the 70’s by a master mason and fabricator, the recently updated space has a rustic cabin feel with all the modern amenities including high speed internet. The master bedroom features a wood burning fireplace (working), king size bed and private bath with shower. The second bedroom features a queen size bed and one built-in Jr twin size bunk. Two additional jr. twin fold out mattresses and a pack n' play with mattress are available for your use. All bedrooms have direct access to the expansive deck with 180 degree view or pull the curtains if you want to sleep in! The main bathroom has a bathtub. We also have kids books, loads of games, puzzles and some kids toys including beach stuff. The kitchen is simple with gas burning stove, essential appliances and everything you need to cook a nice meal. Or, pick from several close restaurants from our guest book for a lovely meal out. This secluded property is shared with a guest house that sits about 100 feet below. The shared area includes a lower deck with 7 person hot tub and fire pit area. There is also a horseshoe pit and hammock. You will have the main house to yourself and everyone respects quiet hours after 10pm. Our hope is that you enjoy every part of your stay from your morning cup of coffee to curling up on the luxurious Saatva mattress while watching the waves crash all while being surrounded by the magnificent view. There is a 1/4 mile trail to the beach but the last 15 feet is down a steep rock. The beach can be accessed, however proceed AT YOUR OWN RISK. For easier beach access, drive 5 minutes to the Navarro State Park beach (other side of the river) or any beach north including the famous Glass Beach in Fort Bragg. There is plenty of hiking including the Navarro Point Preserve and Coastal Trail within a 5 minute drive. Take a hike, then soak in the hot tub and get cozy roasting marshmallows next to the fire. Oh, and don't forget to breath in that fresh ocean air and enjoy that view. This is the place to escape the city or take a retreat from the heat inland. The sound of waves (and seals!) amplify off the beach so you may just want to relax, listen and watch for whales. There is an additional king foam sleeper sofa in the living room for six people total. (we also have a foam floor futon for a little one.) There are 2 half baths for privacy and a shared conjoined walk-in shower. The house works on Insta hot so the hot water is fast and has excellent pressure. We have two smart televisions; 55 inches in the living room and a smaller one in second bedroom We now have full Wi-Fi access as well as excellent cell coverage. Guest access Our caretakers live on the farm at the end of the road and will leave the house open and key on the kitchen counter upon your arrival. Other things to note Albion is approximately 10-15 minutes minutes from Navarro River Redwoods State Park, Van Damme State Park, Big River Beach at Mendocino Headlands, Crown Hall In, and Russian Gulch State Park. The 2-acre property is mostly flat, lies between a meadow and a Redwood grove, and backs up to Schoolhouse Creek. The main house deck has a BBQ, a gas fire pit, 6 deep-seat swivel-rocker chairs and a 6-seat outdoor dining table. All of the bedrooms have Smart TV’s, as well as a 50-inch Smart TV in the living room. High speed WiFi is available in both houses. We have installed a Level 2 EV charger with Tesla and J1772 plugs, and have parking for 3 to 4 vehicles. The space The cottage is a modern open plan building that replicates the 2-story office that was the only remaining building from the town of Bridgeport which once stood on the land where you enter our property from Highway 1. The 1250 sq . ft cottage comprises 625 sq' ground floor with tall 13' ceilings, upstairs is also a 625 sq' comfortable living/entertainment space both with ocean and mountain views. Downstairs, a very unique, comfortable queen size bed appears from behind the wall at the touch of a button to transform the ground floor living space into a bedroom in the evening. The ground floor bed has a nice flat screen digital TV console at the wall end so that you can relax in bed and enjoy Netflix or other movies any time. Guest sleeping in this downstairs area will share the upstairs bathroom which is obviously more convenient to the upstairs sleeping area. If you are staying as a group then it is a good idea for the early risers to use the queen bed in the cottage downstairs area because the kitchen, dining and open plan living area tends to be the cental gathering place in the mornings. The downstairs italian wood stove fireplace makes the cottage cozy even if there is a fierce winter storm howling outside. The downstairs cottage living space has 3 sets of double glass doors opening to the ocean and outdoors areas to integrate the beauty of the outside nature with the natural timbers and modern fittings inside. The cottage is perfectly sealed with eco windows and glass doors so it is always comfortable inside. Upstairs of the cottage has a queen fold out sofa bed with Japanese screens to separate it into a private sleeping area with its own flat screen tv. The upstairs area has a fabulous pool table an electric fireplace, nice sound system and baby grand piano. The windows facilitate awesome views down to the ocean and across fields to the mountains. The ceiling is cypress with old growth redwood features; all milled on the property. The upstairs bathroom has glass mosaic tiles, marble flooring a bath/shower, toilet and double basins. The slightly elevated separate guest bedroom is a 50 yard walk from the cottage and is a cozy small bedroom with queen bed, ensuite, both with panoramic ocean view. The bedroom door opens to a small balcony with small table and chairs. During the day the queen bed can be folded up into a closet if one desires to turn this bedroom into an office. For Internet our service is excellent for such a remote area. The trans-Pacific cable comes onto land at Manchester just 4 miles south and we have point to point direct access. Reception is excellent from within the cottage. Guest access The entire property is 63 acres of bluff top farmland immediately between Highway 1 and the ocean. When you turn off Highway 1 at the entrance you will enter the gate under the Bridgeport Landing sign. Down the driveway you will cross a small bridge which is a creek that runs year round into our 2 acre pond. You will drive alongside the pond with ocean views ahead, then down across the pond enbankment, along the driveway towards the ocean and then into the home enclosure. You will go past a trailer and foundations to a couple of future buildings (barn and onsen) and then around the corner you will see the cottage and guest house. The enclosure area is currently fully fenced. The driveway is also fully fenced except at the southwestern bluff end so please stay clear of the bluff areas if you exit the enclosure to walk back along the driveway. Our property is unique in that the cliffs are 300 feet up from the ocean providing expansive ocean views and we have a private road all the way to the beach and reef which makes the beach very private. Low tide is the best time to go to the beach as at high tide the beach can be fdully covered. At low tides (minus tides are amazing) the beach is a paradise and will be covered with dark sand. We have a fully maintained road that we use to drive our RTV and ATV all the way to the beach. We recommend good hiking boots to walk down to the beach. Access is at your own risk. Access is 50 feet sothwest of our cottage, you'll see a MAERSK cshipping container. Just further down is a gate which is when you will leave the fenced enclosure. The road down to the beach is stony and has steep drops off the edge down to the ocean. On the beach and reef you should be aware of potential tsunami hazards as the San Andreas fault is just miles offshore. Strictly no taking abalone from the reef. The abalone is fully protected and is not to be disturbed. You may collect sea urchins from the reef and you may collect mussels (be aware that mussels should only be eaten at certain times of the year). On the driveway you will see some mown tracks where there are nice scenic walks. One is just south of the gate into the enclosure. It goes down to a lookout over teh rock and southern bay. There is a very sharp drop off the edge so be careful. Another trail is half way along the driveway by the electrical power pole aside the lake. It goes along the northern edge of the lake. Not suitable for children ages 1 - 9 years of age, due to unfenced bluffs and the 2 acre unfenced lake. The property is a working farm with works in progress. Other things to note We allow pets during summer months and we have a pet policy that we can forward to you. By prior arrangement we allow guests to bring pets. We like to protect our wildlife as have an abundance of bird life, wild bobcats, deer, green frogs and lizards.

Cottage & private beach on 63 acres

Welcome to the Bridge House. Perched on the cliffs south of Albion River, the house is the perfect hub for couples looking for a romantic getaway or families seeking a home away from home with access to beaches and outdoor activities. The space The Bridge House was built in 1908 and functioned originally as Newgard's Store on old Highway One, which ran down to and across the Albion River. Beautifully expanded and restored in 2001, and updated in 2015, the home boasts redwood construction, wainscoting, a 10-foot ceiling in the living/kitchen area, two bedrooms, a back parlor, two bathrooms and full kitchen. It is surrounded by lush gardens brimming with coast-loving plants in bloom throughout the seasons. Perched on the cliffs on the south-east side of the Albion River Bridge -- the last wooden trestle bridge on Highway One -- the Bridge House offers birds-eye views of the Albion River and Bay. Lie in bed and listen to the waves crash against the wooden bridge timbers or sit on the deck and follow the birds gliding the currents. Sunsets are spectacular from the Albion Cove where you can find the fossilizing remnants of the logging railroad. Like kayaks or canoes? Walk down to Pacific Union College to rent a water exploration vehicle. If you have your own watercraft, head over the bridge to the "Flats" and launch for an up- or down-river ride for a nominal launch fee. This is a great retreat for a family vacation, romantic weekend, or fun with friends. Located just seven miles from the village of Mendocino, the Bridge House is close to beaches, kayaking, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and much more. The Mendocino coast offers myriad activities for young, old and those in between! A short walk from the Albion store, which stocks fine wines, deli items, and just about anything you could possibly need, the house is also just a short walk from fine dining at the Ledford House. The downstairs bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed with a pillow-top mattress and cozy cotton linens. It is connected to a bathroom with a shower, claw foot tub for two, and vanity. Up the wooden stairs, you'll find another queen-size bed with your own private balcony, comfort on a pillow-top mattress, and bathroom with claw foot tub, handheld shower (no separate shower stall) and vanity. Radiant heat throughout the house provides comfort in any season. The kitchen is stocked with some of the not-so-usual suspects: Italian five burner stove, electric oven, electric kettle, French press coffee pot; drawer dishwasher; fridge. We provide plates, cutlery, cookware, wine and beer glasses, etc. Guest access Entire house Other things to note We do permit one dog at a time on the property. Please let us know if you plan to bring a pet. Dogs must be on leash at all times when outside and are not permitted to be left in the house. Experience tranquility, sunshine, and the perfect base for exploring the Mendocino coast! The space The Farmhouse has it all. 2 bedrooms have queen beds and one smaller bedroom with a full. Full kitchen with all the regular necessities. Full bathroom with claw foot tub and separate shower. Relax on the back deck overlooking the garden or on the side deck overlooking the orchard. Plenty of parking, even for an RV. The Farmhouse has cable internet, making it the perfect location for guests who are trying to fit in work. The internet can run multiple zoom meetings at once. The space A beautifully restored loggers cabin on 12 acres of Mendocino coastal forest. The cottage overlooks the bay that surrounds the village of Mendocino and has a glimpse of the ocean. Hike from here to Big River Beach, the Mendocino Bay Overlook or stroll over for a drink or food at The Stanford Inn. There are over 10 varieties of Rhododendrons that bloom from April to May. Walk up the hill to the east, past the redwood bench and follow the old road south to our redwood grove. Guest access Enjoy a hike in our own coastal forest, 12 acres of botanical wonder! Have an invigorating experience in our outdoor shower, especially nice to bath your dog or warm up after a day at the beach. Unfortunately, it was a hardship on our housekeepers with short turn around times. If you have an existing reservation (prior to 12/1/2025), we allow a MAX of two (2) well behaved, house trained DOGS (NO other animals). Please read Pet Policy. We think of this land as one giant art project; constantly adding details, additions and love. If you have a larger party please consider renting The The Cedar shack or The Dome in addition. ( both have Queen beds completely private and detached, but does not have a kitchen) We love kids but please note the floors are rustic and the stairs are a bit steep, but the grounds are a dream for little ones.. The sauna/shower is a huge treat, please feel free to enjoy it but please keep in mind it is shared by anyone who might be staying at The Farm. We have 2 farm dogs ( Beckett & Billy), 2 goats Mabel & Millie) and about a dozen chickens, important to note we currently have a rooster. Please feel free to explore the whole property but do keep a wide birth around our 2 additional stays, there's plenty of room to roam for ALL.
