We cannot guarantee internet speed due to the rural location but thankfully have had no issues this far. Our lodge sits partially in the woods so you may encounter bugs now and then...just part of the great outdoors. We have a water softener but due to the (delicious and nutritious) nature of our well water you will often see spots on our dishes and silverware. Have no fear! It is clean and simply part of "country living". You may encounter our two pups (Jane and Barley). They are SUPER sweet and totally friendly. They are used to roaming the farm and occasionally come for a visit looking for new friends though rare they wander that far without us .

The privacy is a huge factor for why our place appeals to so many people, but that also brings with it the occasional pest. We keep our house as clean as possible without using crazy amouints of unhealthy pesticides. We have had very few comments (note our reviews) but we like our guests to know ahead of time that you may see a pest or two during your stay. We will continue to be diligent to minimize the critters - but this is mountain living! INCLEMENT WEATHER. Safety is a huge priority for us! Although it hasn't been typical during the last few winters, there is a possibility of snow/ice. If this occurs, the driveway could potentially be too dangerous to travel. If the driveway is unsafe to travel, we will inform guests as soon as possible and discuss their options. Guest access Entire 2700 sq ft of house (3 floors) on 10 acres to use , including pool and hot tub. We also have a game room which include ping pong, darts and foosball. To get to the cabin, the last 1 mile is an adventurous mountain ride of gravel road, sharp turn, and wildlife, so stay on low gear. The last 50 yards is the steepest, but most cars should be fine getting in and out. My old Corolla with 250K miles makes it up every time. During snow, main roads and driveway are treated if snow is 4” or more. 4WD is required then. We are on a well, water is filtered and treated; however, we encourage you to bring your drinking water as tap water may occasionally have a light smell of minerals. Keep doors closed all the time to keep nature’s creatures out. Please also clean up crumbs, and do not leave any food outside. The house is surrounded by wildlife, do not tempt them by leaving food where it is accessible. This is a NO SMOKING, NO PARTY/EVENTS, and NO PETS in this mountain house. County ordinance imposes quiet time from 9pm to 6am. Violations of these policies may result in immediate termination of the stay.

Skiing and Golf at Massanutten or Bryce Resort, Luray Caverns, Various Vineyards, Shopping, Historical sites like New Market Battlefield & Museum are nearby. Perched on a hill above the Shenandoah River guests will enjoy a nice view of the river and easy access for swimming or fishing. The house is on a quite street with very little traffic so kids can play, ride and be kids! The space With 5 bedrooms, 10 people can fit comfortably. A fully furnished kitchen with double oven and plenty of plates, glasses and utensils offers anything the cook needs. Our game room has a football table, chess set and numerous board games. Outside there is a covered patio with gas grill and fire pit. While still in a convenient location inside town it's off on a quiet street with little traffic. Roomy and comfortable are two words that describe this well appointed home. Relax and unwind at Mary's River Retreat. Enjoy small town living. The great room is adjacent to 3 bedrooms, the master with its en suite bathroom and soaking tub, and the two upstairs have a shared bathroom at the apex of the pine ceiling. The upstairs bedrooms both have TVs and closets, as well as large windows overlooking the north and south directions of the Massanutten Mountains. The space Situated in a cozy bend on the south fork of the Shenandoah River, 2 hours from Washington, DC and Richmond and 40 mins from Harrisonburg, this gorgeous and comfortable chalet-style house is surrounded by woods with 400 feet of private riverfront. Outdoors, you can enjoy the spacious wraparound deck with dining table and plenty of seating or swing in the hammock chairs. Bring charcoal for the grill or settle around the firepit and take in the fresh air, all overlooking the river and trees. Cast your fishing line for smallmouth bass, carp, catfish, or sunfish. With an abundant forest for a backyard, and a creek on the property, your will love exploring the land. At night, relax in the hot tub, cozy-up with a book and coffee by the fireplace, or challenge each other to a game in the front room! The space MASTER BEDROOM: Rest easy in the honeysuckle master bedroom with a king bed, ceiling fan, and skylight to let in the beautiful sunshine. With an extra-long work top at the end of the bedroom, if you need to sneak in some work while on vacation, this is the perfect spot. You’ll be farther away from the commotion of the kitchen and family room, where the rest of the family will be gathering, leaving you to be able to work. In addition to the ceiling fan, there is also a sound machine in the closet and a box fan. The windows have black-out curtains on them, but note that because of the beautiful skylight, the sun still shines in. The pack 'n play is stored in the closet and there's plenty of space for it in this bedroom or in the other. BEDROOM 2: The bunk room has 2 sets of bunkbeds, providing 4 twin beds. There is 1 dresser, and a ceiling fan in the room. There is a sound machine and a box fan in the closet. The windows have black-out curtains. FRONT ROOM: Walk into the house and turn to the right to come into the front room. Kick back and read a book while you enjoy the serenity of cabin life. There is another TV in this room as well, located across from the loveseat. The room also has a coffee table, a game table, 2 chairs, and bookshelves with games, toys, and books. FAMILY ROOM: Walk in the front door and turn to your left to come into the family room. If it's a cooler night, grab a blanket from the basket and cozy-up, with the fireplace crackling. The oversized coffee table opens to find coloring books & crayons inside. The family room and dining room flow into each other, making these rooms the heart of the cabin for families. The TV is mounted above fireplace for easy viewing. DINING ROOM: Sit down to dinner at the beautiful wooden table that seats six. Between meals, there is a piano for our guests to enjoy playing. KITCHEN: A kitchen ready for you to cook in. There is a dishwasher, an oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, crockpot, cooking ware, baking sheets, plates, cups, bowls, coffee mugs, wine glasses, and silverware. OUTDOOR: Grab a towel from the hot tub station in the dining room and step through the sliding doors to access the hot tub on the back porch. Through the kitchen is access to the side porch, where you’ll find the gas grill, and outdoor seating. In the front yard, relax on the hammock under the trees, play cornhole with your family, or gather around the fire pit. Free WiFi, central HVAC, propane fireplace, linens & towels, washer/dryer, detergent, ceiling fans, hairdryer, hangers, and trash bags. The cabin is off of a gravel road, up the mountainside. In rain, the road is more difficult to drive, but our station wagon can handle it! During snowy weather, the main roads and driveway are plowed if snow is 4” or more. 4WD is recommended then. The house has a septic system, so please note that only toilet paper should be flushed. Also, please use only septic friendly toilet paper. This is common in the area, so all the stores have toilet paper that is clearly labeled "septic safe." We are on a well and the water is filtered and treated. If you don't like well water, feel free to bring your own drinking water. The cabin has satellite wifi, but it can be slow at times, especially if it is overcast outside. If that happens, the Roku on the TV is slow, so you may need to bring a hot spot if you want to watch a movie during a time the wifi is slow.
