Watauga Lake, NC border, ski resorts, golf, and Grandfather Mountain are also nearby. The space The property features three bedrooms and can accommodate up to 6 guests. Please, note that the living room couch is not convertible. There are two full bathrooms (one upstairs and one downstairs) and a fully stocked kitchenette. There is a game room with a foosball table, chess table, and board games. There is also a pool table, corn hole game, and mini golf game located in the garage. Plenty activities to do on a rainy day. Large covered porch offers comfortable furniture and cool breeze in summer. The property has an outdoor charcoal grill that can double up as a fire pit. Free Wi-Fi/internet, Netflix and internet TV are provided. Public tennis court, basketball, and volleyball are within 5 miles away; tennis rackets can be found in the game room. Guest access You can enjoy the entire house for yourself. Garage is currently not used for parking but is accessible for pool table and corn hole games. The house is easily accessed off Hwy 143. The gravel driveway is not very steep and can be accessed with any type of vehicle, except during winter due to the possibility of snow. If traveling in winter, we do recommend a 4x4 or all wheel drive vehicle. Other things to note The property is non-smoking but there is a designated smoking area outside by the garage with a cigarette bud receptacle if needed. There is a water fountain feature accessible off the back deck and can be operated by an electric plug. We ask that guests do not leave the fountain unattended and only operate it while using the back deck. If left unattended, water may get absorbed by the soil and the pump will run dry, which will cause damage. Perfect for an extended family gathering. Close to NC Ski resorts, Watauga Lake (boating, swimming, fishing), Elk River Falls and all kinds of natural beauty, history and culture. Enjoy the view from the deck and listen to a symphony of dozens of birds! Barbecue, have a fire and see amazing stars. The space Our place has all the comforts of a large home. The finished space is 2,400 square feet. The floors are heated so each bedroom has it's own thermostat. Two washer/dryers will help. There is a garage for one car. There is an area next to the garage with a ping pong table. We have a fire pit near our house. You can have a campfire under the stars. In the wooded area below the house (to the side of the road) one guest built a fort your kids will love! Guest access The upper part of our road is VERY steep. If you have an AWD or 4WD vehicle, you will not have a problem driving up to our house. If your vehicle is not 4WD or AWD, you will not be able to drive all the way up to our house. Many hikers and skiers park at our turnaround and hike up the 500+ feet thru the trees. The first 400 feet is relatively easy. Other things to note We have a TV with Roku and a DVD player and lots of movies. We are kid friendly with toys, little beds in the master and a safety gate. As you come down, you may be greeted by Jake, a Pyrenees dog (all white) who may bark at your vehicle as you go by but is friendly. We are at the mercy of technology here as much as the rest of the world– cellphone service may be limited. We have Starlink internet, and I can work from home doing Zoom calls, streaming TV, etc., with an average download speed of 100+ Mbps; sometimes, weather or a modem going down can happen and interfere.

The cable provider is Spectrum. The living room has a wood stove and TV - perfect for relaxing. Outside, there is a wrap around porch with a fire pit. There is also a Pack and Play available. Our dog, Pearl, (at our house below) will visit you. Don’t leave shoes on the porch or she will nab them. She will also follow you up and down the driveway. She won’t get under your tires…so don’t worry about going your normal speed. Guest access Entire cabin Other things to note Please make note that cell phone service is limited but there is WIFI. You will have access to the door code 48 hours prior to your visit. Save the door code. When you get to the rental, you won’t have cell service (WiFi) until you get inside. Pearl, a blue heeler, is still in puppy stage. She will follow your car up and down the driveway. You don’t need to slow down…she WILL not get under your wheel. It consists of two units that are decorated in a rustic style that children will love and we like to call "Cowboys" and "Indians". "Indians has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed with rhododendron branch headboard, and the other with an authentic looking (No fooling) Covered Wagon Bed with room for a couple of young braves or princesses. We decorated "Indians" with our grandchildren in mind... The space "Indians" has a fully equipped rustic-western style kitchen nicely equipped. The bathroom has an inviting 2 person cedar shake lined Jacuzzi. On the front porch, you can sit in rockers and enjoy the sounds of rushing Cove Creek across the road or enjoy a picnic in the secluded side yard next to what we call Meares Creek.
